Staying up all night can take it tolls sometime, even if you were used to it. At least the good thing was, he managed to catch up on his paperworks and decided to reward himself with a coffee break. Daniel stacked his paperwork into a neat pile and placed his carefully on his table for Aisha to pick up. Anyone who knew Daniel, knew that he hated when things were unorganised. Just looking around the room you could see that he pride himself in keeping everything nice and tidy. Even his paperwork were put in specific category, one folder for every cases, including murder, robbery, dark art and everything else you could possibly think off. If you moved anything out of order without his permission even if you touched it. Be prepared to run or have your head chopped off. Everyone had to basically stay still in his room, but most of the time they avoided his office.

He still had a couple of paperwork to finish off, so he tucked it under his shoulders and walked out into the hallway, down the lift and into the cafe. He made his way over to the table and poured himself a coffee with two sugars. He couldn't stand the bitterness. Once he finished pouring, he turned around only to bump into someone and spilling all his coffee on his paperwork which laid scattered all over the floor. "Oi! Watch where you're going next time!" he growled, scrambling to put his soggy paperwork together.

A Detective Work Is Never Done Empty
PostSubject: Re: A Detective Work Is Never Done   A Detective Work Is Never Done EmptyWed Nov 26, 2014 9:18 pm

As the days in the office passed Mordred by, there were only a couple of changes to his life. One was huge, and it was that Morgana was actually living with him now. No more Hogwarts. It was a weird change, and had it been anyone other than Morgana, he would not have appreciated it. He sometimes wondered where his limits to normal human behaviour started. But having his daughter at home was a good change. He was also quite proud that she had gotten as far up as junior undersecretary to the minister after only a summer of work. It was quite the accomplishment.

Another change was the continuous research he was doing. He had finally managed to unlock the unruly spells of timeturners, but it was still an ongoing project. After the battle between Death Eaters and the Order of the Phoenix in 1995, they were still trying their hardest to get back the data on how to make time-turners and how to make them even safer than they had been. It was all an ongoing project.

Mordred looked up from his desk and saw he'd been in the office for eight hours without a single break. Maybe it was time to take one? He wondered if he should take the time and go check on Morgana, but she had probably already taken her break, and might have even gone home by now. So he walked to the Munchies Cafe without further ado and walked towards the cafe. A man was standing with his back to him and suddenly turned around, bumping straight into Mordred.

Papers fell to the floor and coffee spilled on them, getting soaked. The man growled at Mordred and he scrambled his papers together. Mordred raised an ice-cold eyebrow at the man. A mere look at him told Mordred all he needed to know; auror, short tempered, probably lost someone he loved in his younger years. Mordred didn't care. But there was something else, looking away from the hotheaded person; he wasn't stupid. Actually, he was probably rather smart. But it all meant nothing to Mordred.

"Perhaps it would be smart of you to take your own advice," Mordred merely said in a leveled tone, not one for wasting his time on people who couldn't see past their own dismay. Not that Mordred was the most respectful person in the world, not at all, but he at least knew when something was not someone's fault. Which was more than he could say for this guy.

Daniel managed to grab all the dry papers and stacked them into a neat pile beside him. Then pulled out his wand and pointed at the paperwork that was wet and muttered a spell. Soon, it was a good as new as if it was never wet in the first place. Dan was the type of person who liked everything in order, important stuff first then of course, gradually the not-so-important ones in the back. Luckily, the not-so-important ones were the one that were wet. Not that he has any problem with that now. Oh, the wonders of magic. What would he be without it. Honestly, he couldn't imagine his life living like one of the muggles. He would assume that he wouldn't last a day in the muggle world. He was terrible with technologies and had no interest in learning anytime soon.

After a minute of putting stuff in the correct order. He straightened his back until he was now in a standing position, facing the man he had bumped into. The room suddenly froze and the only thing moving was him and the dark-haired man in front of him. He could feel a thousand eyes staring into him, looking into his soul. No one ever dared to stand up to Daniel and it was even a first for him that anyone ever did. He didn't know how to feel about that. The man just straight up disrespecting him and he wouldn't have that. He had a reputation to maintain. "This wouldn't have happened if you had kept your distance," he curled his lips with irritation. "I mean come on man, how was I supposed to know you were behind me," he walked over towards the coffee table. The man was probably wasn't so close behind him, yet Dan still felt the need to shift the blame on him. "You don't need to be smart to know that people have been working hard, all day and all night. They don't have time to look out for idiots like you who don't watch what you're doing. Its common sense."

Dan knew he was making a fool out of himself. He didn't know what ail him to create such an accusation. All he knew was, that he wanted his coffee which was now spilled all over the floor. The detective can come off as arrogant, rude and cold-hearted to others. Just the way he wanted them to perceive him, in some way, he liked when they were afraid of him. They left him alone. Since his divorce with his wife four years ago. He became more anti-social as his nightmare increased and his sleep became less everyday. His mother death certainly contributed to his depression. He didn't have friends to hang out with either, he lost all of them to that blasted event when a group of dark wizards caused chaos in the streets of London. "Damn that imperius curse," he swore under his breath.

Overall, he was a lonely man with nothing but his job to look forward to. He wasn't always Mr. Grumpy-pants and if anyone took the time to know him. He was a caring man at heart and can become over-protective of the ones he cares about. Although, this is a side of him he rarely shows because he is afraid of being vulnerable again. There was a rare few who knew this side of him.

Mordred kept his eyebrow raised as the man sorted through his things, getting them perfectly fine and without traces of coffee. So why would the man bother to still be fuming. Mordred didn't care that the man was blaming him. It only showed Mordred that his presumptions of him were correct. He almost had to laugh at the man's comment about not having to be smart to know people had been working night and day, but he kept his face straight with lack of any emotions. And calling Mordred an idiot; even more reason to think this man was much below his own intelligence.

"Common sense, huh?" Mordred said, his voice ever a bored tone. He didn't care that people were watching them. He did notice that they seemed to think he was mad. Oh, so this man even had a rumour. Mordred couldn't help but let a smirk shine through at that. Oh, the simplicity of human beings. Always looking to find someone they could admire and respect and even fear. Well, they'd chosen poorly.

His smirk left his face, though, as he decided enough was enough. "Pardon me, but you're wasting my time. After all, I am one of those people who work day and night," he said, his voice back to a bored tone, and walked over to the counter to order his cup of coffee. However, he couldn't help his interest from spiking as he heard the man mumble something about the imperius curse. At first, he almost thought the man was stupid enough to try to blame this scene on the imperius curse. But then he remembered; this man -though clearly not on his own level of intelligence- was not stupid. But neither did Mordred feel like asking, so he just raised his eyebrows for a split of a second, and the man could do whatever he wanted with it.
