It wasn't as if Agnes had never covered a shift before; she had done so many times before while the other girl partied all night. Agnes, however, had different responsibilities. Responsibilities that came with a set of green-hazel eyes, tiny hands, And a babbling mouth. She was covering the other girl yet again, but this time Morgan had to tag along. Her mother wasn't around, neither was Ansel, they could not take care of her son while she worked. At least not today. Ansel could apparate at any moment, but his life had been incredibly busy now that he was finally getting some sense into his head and Agnes couldn't just ask him to put his life on hold for a few hours. That is why she was walking slightly behind Morgan as he took choppy steps towards the café. He giggled and laughed with everyone he met along the way, which was about 100 miles long for him but only a few meters away for Agnes. It wasn't even one o'clock and he was already befriending the whole Ministry. They made their way to the entrance of the café and immediately Morgan began clapping, clearly congratulating himself for such a tiring accomplishment. Looking down at her boy, Agnes smiled at him and reached down to pick him up.

"Mama's going to buy a sandwich and then you can pick a table, okay?" she said to him, the boy holding his hands up in excitement at having a little independence. Agnes didn't actually leave him alone much, not on his own. She was always behind him, making sure he wasn't being preyed o n by creeps. Her biggest fear to date was losing sight of him and having to put his picture on the Missing People sections of newspapers. She held Morgan with one hand, the other carrying her purse - which had to undergo a size arrangement to fit her stuff and Morgan's stuff - and decided to order a simple turkey sandwich on jalapeño cheesy bread. After getting her lunch, she turned to look at Morgan, who scanned the tables as if the decision was too overwhelming. Eventually, he settled on one facing the enchanted window. "Yes!" Morgan said, one of the few words Agnes could actually understand, as Agnes put him on a kiddie chair and took out his homemade lunch. Agnes also wasn't big on buying him food on the run, except when strictly necessary. If she could make his food, she did. Today's lunch was no exception; She had packed him a peanut butter and jelly sandwich -or half of it - along with small, bite sized pieces of banana. She knew he wouldn't eat much, because he never did at lunch, but she was starving. Agnes had had to be at work by the time the Ministry opened, and luckily Morgan had managed to stay asleep for most of the morning until An hour or so before they went on lunch break.

Since Morgan was at the toddler stage where they thought they could do anything - or so her mother had explained - she was used to letting him eat by himself for a while until she had to take over and actually make him eat. At her brother's request, and her own interest, She was raising him to be a Rousseau baby, using the methods the philosopher had suggested many centuries ago. Legs crossed, she opened up a folder from her purse as she ate. Agnes was planning on joining the Daily Prophet team as a freelance photographer, because not only was the pay better but she got to make her own schedule, which was a major plus now that she had to look after a kid. She  was glancing over the portfolio requirements when she realized: everything in her life now revolved around her son. Was that the way her mother had felt when she and Ansel were born? Though she didn't want to admit it, she was beginning to understand her mother. And it had only been a year and a half since she had to take on the mother job. Glancing at her boy, with his innocent eyes and a smile that - if she wasn't wrong - greatly resembled his father's, Agnes swore that if Morgan ever, EVER,
made a kid at a young age she would personally make him care for the kid.

Even though she did love her boy, and she probably would screw up time and time again to have him, she still didn't think it was biologically fair that it was only the girls that got the pain. As Morgan continued to eat pieces of banana, a playful grin on his face as he looked at the people around him, Agnes decided she would use some of the portraits she had taken of Alexandre back when she was fifteen for her portfolio, even if it meant she would have to drag them out of the bottom of her closet.
