Term 13 - Lesson 1 (Years 3-5)

Inés is not in the classroom yet. Just write your character's entrance and when there's enough students she will arrive.

Sinead was actually very excited about Transfiguration because quite frankly she sucked at it. So far, at least. Her best subject was Charms but she didn't like Professor Leblanc very much since he seemed to never take anything seriously. Well, maybe except for parties. He seemed to take that pretty seriously. Naturally, Sinead walked a bit ahead of Humphrey, her eyes scanning the classrooms to make sure she was going into the right one. "I think I'm going to ask this professor how to turn myself into an animal." she commented, [color:1cc6=66ccff]"But I don't know what animal yet." She admitted, because she hadn't really thought the idea through. "I think I'll be a cat, though. Like most of the Hogwarts population." The idea of being so common made her cringe.

Again, Matthew had probably been right when he had called her hair boring, because maybe that was really what she was. Boring. Frowning a little, she turned away from Humphrey and walked straight to class without saying anything else. As they arrived, she picked a spot closer to the front and waited for the professor - or anyone else - to show up. Seriosuly, why did the professor never get to class on time?!

Humphrey walked into class with Sinead, listening to her talk about what animal she might want to turn into. "If you are going to go to the trouble of becoming an animagus I'm sure you can think of something more interesting than a cat. Think out of the box." he suggested. From what he'd learned of it learning to become an animal took a lot of work, and he thought it would be a shame to become something so boring as a cat. Thinking about it, he decided that if he ever became an animal it would be something that could fly. That would definitely make things more interesting, of that he was sure.

Heading towards the front of the class with Sinead, he took a seat next to her. Their instructor wasn't there yet, so he yawned and tried to get comfortable while he waited for class to start. He hadn't slept well the night before and was still rather tired.

Violet walked in wearing a big black jacket that obviously did not belong to her. It was a boys jacket and it smelt like its owner and she loved it. As she walked by, she overheard their conversation and spoke up, "Yeah like maybe a snake. Youre already half way their. Just need the animal body." She sat down  and put the hood up over her head. She stared at Humphrey and Sinead and felt a wave of sadness over whelm her. She hadnt seen Humphrey since their fight and she hated not talking to him. She was tempted to go over there and sit with him, but he was by her, so she decided not to. She felt silent tears fall down her face but she kept them hidden from sight by quickly wiping them away. A soft sniffle escaped her though and she quickly placed her face in her arms

With a mug of hot chocolate in hand, Inés walked into the Transfiguration classroom just in time to hear the typical school kind of hate. Although Inés usually wore heels, class was the time when she could just walk around in more comfortable shoes, so she had left those in her office. Sadly, the sound of heels would have made quite an entrance. Instead, she spoke up as soon as she walked in. "Pick up your accusations and keep them where I can't hear them." Inés said as she walked by the snarky girl.

Not surprisingly, the girl was crying. Inés took the opportunity to set some rules. "I know you are more than ready for the holidays, so the faster we're done with the lesson the faster you can go home." Unlike Peter and Andre, Inés didn't have the tact to make the students feel welcome. School was school. Well, no. Class was class.

"First of all, I will not accept any drama. Of any kind. Second of all, as long as you do your work we should be good." There, two easy rules. Setting her cup on the desk, Inés waved her hand and a couple of mugs just like hers flew in and settled on each of the students' desks. Shortly behind it, a teapot followed and served the sugary drink to the students. "Let's begin, shall we?"

Inés took out her wand from her coat pocket and waited for the students to do the same. "We will be practicing the Avifors spell." As she spoke, a small rubber ball appeared in front of the students. "Your job today is to Abel to transfigure that ball into a bird. Like this:"  Inés walked towards the dark haired girl, Sinead O'Donnell, and pointed her wand at the rubber object. It slowly began to form into a canary bird, more so that the students could clearly see what they had to do.

"The spell is quite easy, Avifors." she said as she turned the canary back into a rubber ball. "First one to get it right gets 20 points?" Peter had told her to give the students something to work for, and surely points for their house had to be enough. Walking to the board, Inés picked up some chalk and wrote down the spell, as well as the wand movement - a sideways eight.

Sinead didn't even look at Dakota when she spoke. People like that did not deserve Sinead's attention. Instead, Sinead held her head high and thought about Humphrey's response. Think outside the box. Sinead could only think about being a fennec fox, because that was Sinead's favorite animal. Taking a piece of her notebook, Sinead scribbled something and passed it to Humphrey, who sat next to her.


It was then that the Professor came in, speaking assertively in a way Sinead liked. More so, Professor D'aramitz totally put Dakota in her place. Right after Professor D'aramitz scolded Dakota, Sinead turned to look at her and gave the Slytherin jerk a smug look. Sinead O'Donnell never fails.

After a beat, Sinead turned to listen to the professor. She wasn't even done with the lesson and Sinead could already see herself as a young version of Professor D'aramitz, which was amazing. The woman was straight to the point, no sugar coating, and Sinead loved that. With a wave, Professor D'aramitz gave them cups and hot chocolate, which Sinead also loved. Sadly, she hadn't provided any whipped cream but it was still good enough. Taking a sip from her cup, Sinead listened attentively.

Taking out her wand right after the professor did so, Sinead paid attention to every word. The avifors spell. Sadly, Sinead hadn't practiced that one. In the bkonk of an eye, a rubber ball appeared on her desk, and Professor D'aramitz was walking up towards her. Sinead watched, amazed, how the professor transformed a simple ball into a beautiful canary. That's what Sinead wanted to do!

Clearing her throat, Sinead studied the incantation and wand movement for a second. She wanted those twenty points for Ravenclaw, because Slytherin surely didn't deserve them with jerks like that. Picking up her wand, she said the incantation and waved her wand in the infinity motion, but sadly nothing happened. After a couple of tries, all Sinead could manage to get was a feathery, yellow ball. Immediately, she turned to Humphrey to see how he was doing. It was best that either Humphrey or herself got the points, that the two Ravenclaws unite against the dumb Slytherin.

Part of him wanted to go over and try to help Dakota; but, Humphrey bit his lip and stayed still when the professor chose that moment to intervene. The logical part of him said it made sense, so he focused on taking a few deep breaths in an attempt to calm his emotions. Though it only worked partially, it was at that moment a slip of paper was slid into view. Looking at it, the words fennec fox jumped out at him. For signature it was signed with an S. He wanted to write his own idea, but realized later was probably best. Instead he refocused on the instructions in hopes he would do alright. Transfiguration books always reminded him that focus was vital, and he didn't want to ignore that.

When it was explained they would be attempting to turn a rubber ball into a bird Humphrey gulped, a little intimidated. Humphrey jumped just a little when one materialized on his desk seemingly from nowhere. Professor D'aramitz performed an example, and he watched with wide eyes as the ball in front of Sinead changed into a bird then back to a ball shortly after. The professor's precise control was evident, and he knew it would be a challenge. Next the diagram was placed on the board, which he was grateful for.

Not surprisingly, he saw Sinead already working on the spell. Humphrey closed his eyes for almost a minute until he began to feel a little of the nerves clear. His eyes focused on the board and he thought about the phonetics of the wording for a moment. Once he thought maybe he had it, he recited to himself, "Avifors. Avifors. Avifors." Wand movement was next, and he slowly moved his wand in the figure eight three times as well. One last time, Humphrey moved it through the figure eight a tad quicker. Time to give it a go, now.

Finally his eyes focused on the rubber ball before him on the desk. Humphrey raised his wand to the starting position, ready to move. "Avifors." he spoke, a little louder compared to when he was reciting. His wand moved through the figure eight, but only a few feathers and tiny nubs that might be the beginning of legs and feet showed. Looking at it curiously, he went over the movement without the word and tried to locate the mistake.

Saryana was beginning to forget she actually had lessons to go to - in fact, hadn't it been for the librarian, she probably would have accidentally skipped the class. So she wouldn't get in much trouble, she had promised Saryana that she would talk with the teacher to explain why she wasn't right on time. Well, not with the real reason - they agreed to the fact that Saryana has to fix some books and lost track of time. And it definitely was in place, as she was actually thinking about getting a job as a helper of the librarian - though the girl didn't really care, the other insisted that she should get payed for the help she had done in her free time.

But back to her being late for class. She wasn't trying to run or even walk fast. Though she was heavily worried about such stuff when she was younger, now she doesn't really care about it. The lost points didn't bother her, her house would most likely lose anyway. And she doubted she'd get detention from something so simple. So she continued to walk normally, still ignoring any portraits around her - the girl didn't want to be too late, after all. Then it would be scary.

Finally walking in, she stood by the door. "Sorry for being late, professor, I got held up at the library. " Well, it wasn't a lie but nor was it fully true. She got held up because she was educating herself. But the teacher would probably get something else from the way she structured her sentence. And if asked, she knew she could lie without a worry because there was a witness, though not the most preferred one would expect.

Looking around, she first looked at the board. She noticed the spell quickly - Avifors. So they were transforming something into a bird? Her gaze went to the desks and the rubber balls everyone seemed to have. Well, that was easy. Afterwards she looked at the other students. Though she knew she had meet all of the somewhere, she couldn't remember their names, or even where they met. The two Ravenclaws... One was... On the train? Or near some portrait. She remembered moving. As for the other one, they had meet this year. Only that meeting had she remembered more - in the kitchens. Though it wasn't very long ago so it wasn't a surprise.

Now she thought where she could have meet the last one - the Slytherin. However, her mind remained blank. Maybe she had mistaken that she had seen her. Honestly, Saryana didn't really try nowadays to remember people. And was perfectly fine with it. Because why did she need people? The person she trusted most betrayed her because she didn't want to fight anymore, what about others.
