| Lyra walked into her bedroom, jumped onto her bed and opened a muggle book that Lyn had recommended she read because it was awesome. Her sister was in there already, across the room on her bed. She’d missed sharing a room with her twin. Obviously her roommates were fine other than Aoife, but being all the way up in the Gryffindor tower while Lyn was down in the basement was horrible and meant they hardly ever saw each other outside of classes. Now, for a short period, they would be together, back to the old routine of spending every minute of the day together. “Hey,” she smiled.
The book was called The Hunger Games. Lyn and all of her muggle friends were obsessed with the trilogy and even though she wasn’t one to follow the crowd, she wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Admittedly, the first page wasn’t very interesting, but then she got into it and was sort of obsessed with Katniss from very early on. This was a good book.
For a moment, she tore her eyes away from the twenty -third page to look at Lyn. “We need a Pretty Little Liars marathon tomorrow,” she said matter-of-factly. “It has been wayyyy too long.” They had a whole season or something to catch on. Lyra wished they could have TV at Hogwarts. It would make everything so much more interesting and nobody would ever be bored. But she had read about the Room of Requirement. If she found that while she really wanted to watch PLL, would it have TV in it? Or was that an exception to its magic?
There was so much to do this summer. Obviously, catch up on crappy TV with Lyn, like PLL and OUAT. Then catch up with the chores that they hadn’t done all year. And chill out on the farm, on the tyre swing and with the animals. Most importantly, beat Hunter and Blake’s scores on FIFA. After Aoife and Blake left last summer, she’d really got into the game, but she hadn’t beaten her brother and his friend just yet. She was close, though. | |
