Desires and Fears (Brage)

The Viking. One of the most eloquent places to dine in Norway. Or so John thought when he stumbled in here by accident. Or was it fate? John didn't know. This was where he first became John Smith. As cheesy and ironic his name was, it had a meaning. He was a man on the run. What would be more obvious than go undercover as a man with the most obvious name ever? John Smith. He had heard it in his time in America. It was more common there, so he could just say he was from America. He had grown an American accent when he was there.

He remembered his last crime. He had murdered his entire drug team... He felt a little bad, but to ensure his safety, it needed to be done. He remembered the last man who spoke to him. He was a broad man with blond hair and blue eyes, a typical American bloke, and he had said his name was "John Smith". Was it wrong taking the name of your last victims? Maybe. But John wanted to live up to it. He had broken a lot of bones to last a life time, but now he was willing to give himself one last shot. One of his deepest darkest desires, is to be able to produce a patronus.

When he had heard of them, he had tried to cast one, and it had failed. He had only heard the spell, but didn't know much about them. So when he tried and failed (a thing he didn't normally do), he read up on them. He needed to produce happy thoughts. John didn't have a happy thought in his body. First he was a product of incest, then he was wanted in different countries for different things. It wasn't something to be happy or proud about. If his parents hadn't disowned Olaf yet, they would sure disown John. Which was why he couldn't go back home.

But he was sure the only way he would be able to produce that happy thought to get his patronus, was if he did go home and sort things out with his family. He wasn't proud of what he did to Olga and Helga. But if getting him his one desire would be able to produce his patronus, he would do anything. He just hoped his parents were just as reasonable as they had always been. After all, he didn't have to tell them about Olga... Did he?
