| Aoife wandered along the corridor to Potions, ridiculously early but not caring. It wasn't like she had anything better to do. She lingered a while, chatting cheerfully with the portraits as she walked, discussing how horrible the weather was now that it was the middle of bloody autumn. Small talk. But she never found she had much in common with the boring old people in the pictures, who never tried to start good conversation.
Despite taking her time, she arrived a few minutes early and was the first. Even Henley wasn't there yet. She took a seat in the middle of the classroom. She liked this professor, so there was no need to turn any seats around or work on her glare or whatever. She just grabbed her stuff from her bag and leaned back in the chair, waiting for someone else to turn up.

| With all of the extra effort that he put into the subject, Hunter could probably skip potions for the entire year and still pass his OWL. He'd pretty much obsessed over their new textbook, and had already memorized how to make all of the potions on their course list. Of course, he hadn't tried them all, because the Felix potion was taking up his time, and his cauldron. But he was pretty confident that he could brew most of them without too much trouble. So really, class wouldn't be teaching him much of anything new. But still, Hunter enjoyed potions, and he liked Henley, so he went anyway. If he was going to skip class, it wasn't going to be this one.
Hunter wasn't surprised that he was early, because for once he'd done it on purpose. He wanted to see what potion they were going to be working on - hopefully it was one he hadn't made in the past. It would be more interesting to put a new one into practice. As he stepped into the room, his eyes were drawn first to Aoife's hair, and then past her to the board. Draught of peace. That was one he'd never attempted, but even so his mind started running through the ingredients. Powdered moonstone. Powdered Unicorn Horn. Powdered porcupine quills. Syrup of hellebore. It was actually a more difficult potion, with powerful ingredients and a lot of different color changes that had to be judged exactly right.
Since nobody else was in the classroom yet, not even Henley, Hunter made his way over to Aoife. He wasn't really in the mood to talk, but also wasn't in the mood to sit by himself. So he fell into the seat beside her with a short "Hey," and then pulled out his potions book to flip through, falling silent.
