| OOC: I just joined, and figured it would be okay if I just did the homework since it's so close to the end of the term, but if you'd like me to post in the class thread, I will! Name: Hunter VanDerbergHouse: GryffindorYear: Second1. What is the spell's incantation (Incendio) etymology? Incendium translates to fire in latin. Incendio is the ablative singular of Incendium, and means "by fire" or "with fire." When one uses the spell Incendio, they are calling upon it to affect an object by or with fire. Incendio is also the first person singular version of the verb Incendiar, in Spanish, and translates to "I set fire to." 2. Name other spells which have similar effects to the Fire-Making Spell. The Bluebell Flames spell, also known as cold fire, is similar to Incendio. Both spells create a flame that is dispensed from the caster's wand. The Bluebell Flames spell differs from Incendio because the odd, blue flame it creates is harmless and can even be held in a bare hand. It only heats the area right about it.3. Name a few known practitioners of the spell. Some practitioners of Incendio include Rubeus Hagrid, Peter Pettigrew, Thorfinn Rowle, Hermione Granger, Albus Dumbledore and Harry Potter himself. Not to mention the many witches and wizards that likely use it in every day life.BONUS. In which situations can the spell come in handy?Incendio is a handy spell for most witches and wizards. It can be used to ignite a fireplace, light candles, or as an attack if necessary. | |
