My Character :: Activity: Adult, Potions Professor
| Subject: Professor application [Lucia Henley, Potions] Fri Aug 30, 2013 2:19 pm | |
| Your Full Name: Lucia Henley
School where you graduated: Hogwarts
Subject you are applying for: Potions
Why do you want to become a professor? Because I love teaching students, and I love the thought and idea of helping the next generations, so that I actually leave them with something.
Why you have chosen this subject? Because the art of potions is extremely interesting to me. It's a subject I've loved as much as herbology, as the two subjects often have some say in the other. My interest for potions goes way beyond what is normal, and I know I can help students to figure out of the subject.
Have you applied for any professions yet? No.
Will you be able to post 1 to 2 lessons/month minimum? Yes.
Do you have any previous experience in this field? As previous Herbology professor, I do indeed. And I've also been on a lot of other sites as a professor.
Role Playing Example(minimum 350 words ; Describe teaching your first class)
The dank and cold classroom in the dungeons made Lucia smile a bit to herself. Sure, her favorite place to be was in nature and the forest and so on, but her biggest interest had always been potions. When she had first applied for Hogwarts, Herbology had been an open slot. And she had absolutely loved Herbology. She just knew she wouldn't have time for both, and she chose the one she loved the most.
Which was the reason for why she was standing in the potion classroom, waiting for her students to arrive. She had taken notice of the fact that a lot of people were interested in Potions, and she was determined to make sure everyone liked it. So, with a smile on her face, she waited calmly until the first student made an appearance. And swiftly after the attendants had all gathered. She smiled at them.
"Welcome to Potions! Some of you may know me from Herbology, but for those who does not, my name is Lucia Henley, and I shall be your professor of Potions. Now, let's do a quick round of names and what you want to learn in this class," she said calmly, pointing to the left front row.
When they had all finished, she gave an approving nod. "Some of you seems to know many potions, and those who does not shall learn soon enough. I must say that three or four of the potions you have mentioned are too dangerous for first years, some of them even on NEWT level, so you might just have to wait for a while before you'll learn those," she said softly. She was glad that people hadn't mentioned potions they wouldn't be able to learn, maybe they didn't know of the worst sorts.
She turned to the blackboard. "The first potion you will be allowed to learn is called the Swelling Solution. You will find all ingredients up front. Now, for the recipe," she said calmly and enchanted the chalk, making it write quickly and neatly what would be needed and the recipe.
- Recipe:
Ingredients: Bat Spleen, Dried Nettles and Puffer-fish Eyes
Add two scoops of dried nettles to the mortar Add three puffer-fish eyes to the mortar Crush into a medium-fine powder Add two measures of the crushed mix to your cauldron Heat on a medium temperature for twenty seconds - Leave to brew and return in 5 minutes Add one bat spleen to the cauldron Stir four times, anti-clockwise Heat to low for thirty seconds
The potion shall now be ready.
She looked at the students as they worked and refrained from helping too much, wanting to see what sort of level they were on without her help. "When you're finished, you may fill a small bottle with a sample, and I shall inspect it," she said calmly and waited patiently for them to finish.
