| Though Jack didn't act like it, it was actually really nice to have his siblings home for the summer months. And he was actually pretty sad to see them go. But whether he wanted them to go back to school or not, on September first he found himself being pulled through the deceivingly not-solid barrier by his sisters. "I'm coming, I'm coming," he chided them. "No need to shove!" Once they were through, Jack instantly took in the surrounding scene. A huge, scarlet steam engine sat on a set of railroad tracks, and there were people everywhere.
He hadn't even had time to process anything when someone caught his arm from the other side and dragged him along toward the train. "Come on, I think I see Kynan!" Hunter was saying. "You've got to meet him, he's great! He's about your age!" Jack pulled his arm away so that he could follow his brother at his own pace, and noticed in amusement the eagerness with which Hunter looked around. The kid had too many friends for his own good - he was going to get a big ego if he didn't watch it. Either way, he followed his brother to wherever he was going and slowed to a halt beside him.
"Kynan!" Hunter exclaimed happily. "We just got here! How was your summer? Have you seen Aoife around anywhere?" Okay, his brother needed to calm down. Too many words in too short a period of time. "Oh, hi Aylee!" he added, though a bit less loudly. "This is my brother Jack!"
Jack nodded in greeting to the boy who was apparently Kynan. Aylee. That name sounded familiar. And when Jack looked past Kynan he realized why. It was the girl that he'd knocked over in Diagon Alley! "Hi Aylee," he said sheepishly to the dark-haired girl, grinning a little crookedly as he remembered literally knocking her to the ground. "Nice to see you again." Jack awkwardly lifted a hand to rub the back of his neck, unsure now if the girl would even remember him. That would be embarrassing. | |
