"Stop slouching!" The old lady slapped Sinead's calf as she placed pins on the areas of the Ravenclaw's uniform that needed to be corrected. With measuring tape hanging from her neck, the lady glared up at Sinead as she measured and tried fabric samples to match the uniform. With a sudden burst of puberty, Sinead needed an urgent trip to Madam Malkin's for adjustments. All of a sudden Sinead needed more room around her chest and her skirts had become too short for her liking thanks to her growing. "You know, I wouldn't slouch if it wasn't so weird to stand here and stare at myself in your giant mirror." Sinead replied. She had been standing there on the platform for about ten minutes and she was already tired of it. After all, who liked seeing their imperfections on a wall-long mirror, where everyone could see. "Maybe you should stop looking at yourself and focus on something else." The lady said, and Sinead felt a sharp pinch by her calf. "Ow." That was definitely not an accident. Sinead may be a little selfish and maybe slightly conceited, but there was no reason to prick her with the needle.

After a few more eternities of trying to stand still, Sinead was finally allowed to step down the platform. "I will take these uniforms to be cleaned and adjusted. You wait here." The lady said. Nodding, Sinead went to the changing rooms to get back to her normal clothes. She put on her jeans, which were also a bit short at the ends, so she had rolled them up to a little above her ankles, and her dark green sweatshirt - courtesy of Declan - and walked into the waiting area. There were other students there, about two or three, who seemed to be going through the puberty phase as she was. One of the boys, the only boy, had bright red pimples all over his face. His light skin only enhanced their redness, and Sinead was glad her teenage acne wasn't that bad yet. She would probably cover her face with a paper bag if that was ever the case. Turning around, Sinead glanced at the thousands of robes on display. She could have bought new robes, but it was the middle of the term and Sinead was jobless, therefore broke as well. Instead she had taken her old ones and some of Declan's and Aoife's that could probably fit her as well. Of course, the colors would need to change...

Taking a seat, Sinead crossed her arms and rested against the chair. Her hair had grown longer, fuller, and Sinead was loving it. She lifted her hands to pull her dark waves into a ponytail before the sudden ringing of the door bell made Sinead jump. Ah, thanks, old fashioned shops. Lifting her eyes, she saw yet another boy walk in. He was older though, probably a Fifth Year, and if Sinead was looking at him right, he was a Gryffindor. At least, he looked like a Gryffindor. He had that rugged but nice-to-look at kind of look. Like Declan. Her mind turned away from the newcomer when Pimple Boy took the chair next to her, giving him a wide grin, which Sinead kindly returned. A woman with blonde curls took the seat next to him, and Sinead assumed she was Pimple Boy's mother. They spoke quietly, in whispers, and the woman glanced at Sinead before smiling, a fake smile, as if she had just noticed her. Looking around, Sinead realized that the only chair available in the waiting area was the one on her right. Giving the newcomer a small smile, Sinead hoped someone else would stand up.

It was one of those rare days when Phin had off. Alek and Miranda had decided that he worked too much and needed a day to himself. A few days before, he had mentioned to them that he was going back to Hogwarts, and Miranda had contacted the headmaster and he was set to enter as a sixth year. Which he was glad. He didn't want to be a 16 year old going into fourth year, that would be embarrassing. Phin had made the decision all on his own. He had listened to Miranda's, Hunter's, Aoife's, and even Alek. All said the same thing, no matter what he would need a Hogwarts education if he didn't want to work at the wand shop his entire life. Which he didn't. What Hunter had said made sense. Was he really running away from his problems by not going back? As Phin thought about it, he wasn't exactly sure why he quit in the first place. But, it ended up working out in the end. He found a forever home, and that was all that mattered to him. He didn't care if anybody else didn't understand.

Today on his day off, he decided to go to the shops and get school supplies. He had gotten his Hogwarts letter, and he remembered the exciting feeling he had gotten when he was younger, and he missed it. He missed the thrill of shopping for supplies. The thrill of seeing the castle for the first time in months, the last time he saw it was when he, Miranda and Alek had gone to the Three Broomsticks, and that hadn't been a thing he wanted to remember. He almost wanted to go visit his baby brother just to make sure they where treating him the way she had said. Just to make sure he was safe. But the thought of doing it just seemed like a bad idea all together, so he decided against it. He wasn't sure if his parents even wanted to see him again and that made his heart sad. Walking around, Phin had gotten almost everything on his list. The last thing he needed was robes. He had had quiet a growth spurt since his last time at Hogwarts, and when he tried on his uniform it was quiet small.

He entered Madam Malkin's which was quiet busy which didn't surprise him as term was starting soon. He looked around, and went to sit in a chair. Next to him was a girl with blackish hair. She seemed younger, like the type he would be protective over as if she were a younger sister. He smiled and said, "Phineas Button." He held out his hand in hopes that she would shake it in greeting. He was all for making new friends because his only friend had graduated. He was hoping this would be a year of new things, and new friends. This time at Hogwarts was going to be different. He wasn't going to lock people in closets, or kiss his best friend (if he could help it). He was going to behave like a proper gentleman, and not like the child he was before. After all, he had grown up since then.

Of course the newcomer had taken the spot next to Sinead. It was the only available spot. Sinead didn't look at him fully in the eye until he spoke. Phineas Button. What a funny name. Of course, she didn't say anything - didn't even blink. For a moment, Sinead considered ignoring him. She was taking the moody part of puberty very seriously. Before she had a chance to ignore him, though, her child side took over and Sinead turned to face him. "Sinead." she said before taking his hand. Unlike hers, Phineas' hands were soft. They weren't calloused either, but they were the kind of hands she imagined all Gryffindor boys had. Her mind instantly brought her to Humphrey's and Danny's. They both had eerily soft hands, which was the kind of thing Sinead was used to when shaking anyone's. Sinead hadn't noticed she still hadn't stopped shaking Phineas, and while she was thinking back on the other ones, her eyes widened. She immediately let go, hoping Phineas wasn't attentive enough to notice.

For a moment, she let the awkward silence linger. She had never been good at introductions, always saying more than she should or not saying enough. Either way, the boy didn't look familiar. Well, he did - but very vaguely. She had probably passed him in the street, a mere blur of a face. But upon noticing his features a little longer, Sinead was sure she didn't know him. He was either a transfer or an adult with a young face. There were many of them at the shops in Diagon Alley. She had accompanied Declan to Ollivander's last summer after he broke his wand for the fifth time, and Sinead had been more than surprised to find out the pretty girl from the shop was not even twenty. Maybe Phineas was like her.

"Sorry, but you don't look familiar. Do you go to Hogwarts? Are you a transfer?" she voiced her thoughts, her eyes widening with curiosity at the prospect of the latter. Maybe he was from some interesting country, with an interesting culture. He could teach Sinead about his world, expanding her knowledge and thus making her better suited for a career in the Ministry's international relations! It wasn't like Sinead was thinking about that. The future was way ahead. But of course she had been thinking about it. Sinead had already created a plan of study for her O.W.L.S even if they weren't happening for another two years. Shifting herself to the side to be able to talk him without straining her neck, Sinead grinned, anxious for a reply.

Sinead. That was not a name Phineas would've picked for this girl. He thought she looked like an Alexis, or Alison or something like that. Sinead was definitely a weird name. But who was Phin to judge on weird names? His was on top of the list as well. So he didn't laugh, but smiled and said, "Nice to meet you. The girl also seemed like a.. well.. child. All of Phin's friends had been older. There was Aoife... She was graduated, and then there was... was that all? Phin went threw his friends list. Alek and Miranda of course, but he hadn't known them until summer time. The conversation came at an end. So Phin sat there starring into space, not really paying attention to his surroundings. Which he often caught himself doing now a days since Aoife was back into his life. Not that he was still in love with her, no. He was certain that that part of him was gone. He had grown up a little bit, and that part had flown away with his child self.

When the girl continued the conversation, he almost hadn't heard her because of his last conversation with Aoife. When she asked if he looked familiar, he laughed a little bit and said, "I work at Ollivanders. Well, I did. I dropped out of school last term, and now I'm going back. So not exactly a transfer. And sorry to disappoint, but I'm from England." The girl seemed anxious to learn if he was from a different country. Then he was curious as well. He asked, "Are you from a different country? And what year and house are you in? I'm a Hufflepuff!" Now he was curious to know all about his new potential friend. But at the same time, Phin was a tad tired of having girls as friends. He needed a dude so that way he could act like a well, dude. He could tell that when he belched or something Aoife and Miranda got a little bit disgusted by it. He just wanted to belch without being called out on it. He didn't think that was too much to ask.

Phin decided that if he was going to make friends this term, they needed to be younger that way when the year ended, they wouldn't just all pack up and leave him alone. This girl seemed young enough that when he left, she would still be at school. Was that acceptable? Was it weird for Phin to be friends with a girl this age? Was it weird that the girl who adopted him was 3 years older? He nodded and decided that he wouldn't judge based on age, but personality. Age didn't seem to matter to Phin. It was just a number. It wasn't weird, or scary. It was just there. It didn't seem to define the relationship either. And then, Phin made his first real friend. She wasn't a crazy red headed sheep obsessed girl, but she would do.
