Lucas after his haircut:

Elita brushed the curly brown hair out of the little boys face, before deciding he needed a trim. She got him dressed in a simple long sleeved white onesie with brown cargo pants and a light blue jacket and off she went towards Covenant Garden. She knew the shopping district was bound to have a barber shop or something and well - she was right. The smiled at the boy as they walked into a hair salon, trying to keep him calm as he had never been in anything or the sort before. This would be his first haircut, a huge milestone! Elita let the hair stylist know that she just wanted it trimmed so it didn't sit in his face and mess up his vision as well as she wanted it off of his ears. She had to sit him in her own lap in the chair while they worked and speak to him in a soft voice. However, the boy still cried. She didn't understand why he was so upset but she had a feeling that it had something to do with the fact that this lady was a stranger and she was right in his face. Elita wondered if Ella had had this issue then figured she probably didn't because Emma was a girl and didn't really need haircuts like this. Elita sighed and after another fifteen minutes, the woman was done and Lucas clung to his mother's neck while she paid the lady, pulled the jacket hood over Lucas' head and walked back out into the chilly November air.

Not even two seconds after they'd entered the cool air, Elita looked down to see that the nearly two year old boy had pulled off his hood. "Lucas, no!" Elita scolded him, pulling it back on only for him to pull it off. "Stop that," she said again, pulling it back on. Apparently he thought it was a game or some shit like that and Elita was beginning to feel frustrated. When Lucas reached up to pull the hood back off, Elita's hand reached out and swatted his and as his face contorted into one that was followed by reddening, tears and crying, Elita felt horrible. "I said no," her voice was stern but it threatened to break. She was a horrible mother. What kind of mother slapped their year old child? Sure he was nearing two year old but he wasn't yet two. Elita wanted to cry herself but at least now, the boy hadn't reached up to tug at the hood again. She knew that if she didn't correct him he'd turn out to be a brat but why was correcting them so hard? Elita sighed and hugged the boy closely to her body as she walked towards a destination, wanting to make this up to her son without making him think that whatever he had done wrong was suddenly not wrong because anyone who blantantly disrespected Elita deserved to be punished, well sort of.

The walk to Hamley's from Covenant Garden was short and luckily, they had plenty of daylight left. In fact, it was only nearing noon however it seemed so much later, possibly because Lucas still didn't always sleep through the night and when he did, it was usually from eight at night til four or five the next morning resulting in an exhausted Elita. However, now that she was a stay at home mother, it wasn't quite at bad because she didn't have to work as well. Ryland had actually been the one to offer her to stay at home instead of working because he wanted to support his family, even if Lucas wasn't really his child. Ryland had even gone so far as to talk about the possibility of another child in another two years or so and Elita was grateful. She was grateful that Ryland had changed and seemed to mature a lot, something she couldn't say about Wade. He had completely crushed her sister, Ella without even knowing and now he was dead and that took an even worse toll on Ella. Mainly because Ella wanted to do nothing but protect him. In fact, when she had first become an Auror, she'd run into him and had protected him and she vowed to protect him until the end of time. She wanted to be loved by him like she loved him but it never happened and would never happen and for that, Elita felt sorry for her. In fact, Wade had been such a douchebag (at least in her mind) that right before his death he brought around a four year old name Harmonia who he claimed to be his child. She felt bad that Lucy had been the one that had to have guardianship of her but she was glad that Ella didn't have to. To this day, Elita still didn't think that Ella could bare the sight of Harmony and quite frankly, Elita didn't blame her. However had Lucy asked her to, she would have taken the girl in too. Elita could never mention it to Ella or anyone for that matter but she adored Harmony. Besides Ryland, Lucas and Emma, Hamrony was another of the best things to have come into her life and she'd treat her like she was family, even though neither her or Ryland were actual Malfoys.

Elita placed the young boy in the front seat of a trolley as the entered the store and began to push him up and down the aisles which much to her dismay caused him to make grabby hands at literally everything. "Lucas, no," Elita sighed and instantly regretted her decision to take him there. However, another thought reminded her that it was nearly Christmas and she'd yet to shop for Emma, Lucas or Harmony and so that was what she'd do, mainly because she knew Lucas wouldn't remember anything she had bought. In fact, the boy could barely even talk. Elita suddenly wished that she would have asked Ella and Lucy what the girls enjoyed but she didn't so now she was left to her best judgement. However, she did remember Lucy mentioning something about Harmony being an incredible reader and so along with the toys she bought for her, she'd be sure to get some books as well, for all three of them, not just Harmony. The thought of Harmony made Elita smile a bit because she was beautiful as was Emma and one day, Elita hoped she'd too have a beautiful little girl. If she didn't, she'd be perfectly fine with Lucas because she did get to spoil Emma and Harmony. As Elita rounded the corner looking to fill her trolley even higher than she already had, she saw someone she vaguely recognised. Someone she had mixed feelings about at one point because she thought they were trying to steal Ryland. However, when the girl - Agnes ended up pregnant as well, Elita's hard feelings against her diminished and she wondered if Agnes' did as well. After all, they were both mothers and their boys were the same age. If they both had matured, Elita was sure they could become decent friends.

With Christmas nearing, Agnes had made it a point to get Morgan something he actually wanted. The past two Christmas all Morgan had gotten were regular baby stuff, but now that he was relatively old enough to make sense, Agnes was determined to get him something nice. With Morgan by the hand, Agnes walked into Hamleys. "Okay, you get to pick...whatever you want." Agnes told him, Morgan immediately dragging her over to the toy cars. There were so many toys Agnes hoped Morgan would pick something small. Money wasn't a problem, it never had been, but with so many tantrums Morgan tended to throw, Agnes was starting to get worried about his spoiled he really was.

Ansel kept telling her Morgan was fine, and the Healers kept telling her it was normal. But Agnes wanted to know how normal it was. Morgan cried for anything, about anything, with anything. Sometimes there wasn't even a reason, and Agnes desperately wanted to know what to do in those moments. Morgan was definitely a handful, so much that Agnes was close enough to handing him over to her brother for him to adopt. In the end, though, Agnes realized his silly the idea was. There was no way she would give Morgan up. For nine months she had suffered the fabulous pregnancy journey and now he was suffering the baby-or-toddler years. It was so much work put into the boy's upbringing - so far - that Agnes would never throw it away.

Of course, she was a bit scared to admit that all she wanted was to keep Morgan by her side. Agnes loved the kid to infinity and beyond. She knew that because of how many times they had watched Toy Story. "I want this!" Morgan shouted. He didn't just inform her. He made sure she knew exactly which one, and justbhow much he really wanted the toy car. Hugging the toy, Morgan took Agnes' hand and led her down the aisle of miniature vehicles and other boy-like things. As Morgan inspected a toy that had caught his attention, Agnes checked her phone. There were two messages. One from her mother, clearly informing her that she needed to pick up Ansel's gift on her way home. And the other one from Oliver, Victoria's boyfriend, asking her if she could him up on Wednesday so they could both meet Victoria for lunch. Well, she could do both of those things.

Sighing, Agnes looked up to see Morgan still deciding between one of the two toys he had in hand. For a three tear old, Morgan was always making sure he really wanted something. And then he cried about it. Sensing someone's gaze on her suddenly, Agnes looked around, and her eyes fell on a familiar girl. It was the one with the enormous blue eyes, the one who was married to one of the professors or something. Agnes remembered her because she had been a bitch about everything. As if Agnes were to steal away her boyfriend. Firstly, Agnes had enough class to not go around screwing professors, which she was pretty sure was illegal in any country. Secondly, Agnes didn't even like Ryland Malfoy. She had interviewed him a few months ago, after his brother's death, and Agnes concluded she didn't like any of the Malfoys.

Still holding the blue-eyed's gaze, Agnes nodded at her. "Hello." Agnes wouldn't have spoken to her in any other kind of situation, but they apparently both had kids. Boys, to be exact. However, maybe the girl didn't hate Agnes anymore. Rather, maybe she wasn't a bitch anymore.

Elita constantly reminded herself of how much she could never resent Lucas especially because he made it so easy to think so sometimes. Sometimes he'd cry for the hell of it while other times he'd cry because he knew that was how he got his way - that was how every child got their way. She couldn't spank him yet, he was too young to understand. Which by default meant she couldn't get angry because it did no good, however she still got angry because she was human. She got angry because Lucas upset her, his relentless crying upset her and she couldn't do anything about it because she was only twenty months old. Sure she gave him an occasional swat on the hand but that was only when he was doing something dangerous - like trying to stick a toy into the oven.

After Elita's pregnancy, her hormones raged through the roof. She had hormonal changes that resulted in random bouts of anger and crying. When Lucas cried, she cried. When Ryland came home and reminded her to do something, she cried. It had gotten really old, really fast and after the first few months, after she'd gotten used to being sleep deprived it had all gotten better. However now she felt like the raging hormones were back and maybe they were. Maybe they showed up during toddler years because two year olds were horrible, maybe they'd even show up during Lucas' teenage year because Merlin knows, he was bound to be like her or Ryland and she'd need the help. But maybe Lucas wouldn't be quite so bad, maybe he'd actually be calm and collected. Not that she would know that much anyways - he'd spend most of his time at Hogwarts.

She looked to the shelf and in the split second that she had taken her eyes off of Lucas, he had begun climbing out of the cart. Elita grabbed his arm and with a sharp tone to her voice she scolded him, "Lucas, NO!." Her hand reached out and smacked his own hand because this was dangerous, this could have really injured him and he needed to know that. His large brown eyes stared straight into her blue ones and his bottom lip turned out into a frown. Elita sighed and just as she'd done so, the tears began. Lucas was wailing. "You can't do that Lucas! You're going to get hurt." But the boy didn't understand, he just wailed and reached towards a dinosaur. "Me want!" he screamed through his tears and Elita placed her head in her hands. She didn't want to deal with him right now, not on this rather peaceful day. Giving in, she grabbed the toy off the shelf and handed it to him. "Here," her voice was exasperated. She was raising the definition of spoiled even though Ryland tried to tell her she wasn't. She was told things would be different as he grew up but Elita couldn't see the future, she could only see now.

Elita watched Lucas press the different buttons making the dinosaur toy roar and growl, laughter now flowing from him instead of tears. She was glad he was laughing because laughing was a lot better than him wailing, it was cuter as well but she couldn't help but feel guilty. She couldn't help but feel guilty over the fact that she'd given what he wanted and it wasn't just today, it was every day. She was more than grateful right now that Lucas was laughing because frankly if he were crying, she'd feel a bit embarrassed. Even though the two had never been friends, Agnes was still sort of a classmate and it'd be embarrassing for your kid to be out of line in front of another classmate. She didn't know much about the girl, she only knew that very little rumours were spread about her and that she was a French transfer - a very popular one at that. Elita was French as well but she guessed her French-ness was not goo enough for the population of Hogwarts. She didn't particularly care she just wanted to know what was so outstanding about the girl because to her, she was just as good as anyone else.

When Agnes broke the silence, she could see Lucas' head whip around. "Hello!" he shouted, making a dramatic move to really wave at the girl. "She pretty Mummy," Lucas added much to Elita's dismay. "Uhm, hello," Elita said after making sure Lucas was sure to stay quiet. Sure enough, his attention had focused back onto the dinosaur and she suddenly was very thankful for the short attention spans of toddlers.

Agnes couldn't help but notice that the girl - woman? - was having a hard time with her kid. Suddenly she felt a thousand times more grateful for Morgan, because even though he was bratty, he was never one to publicly embarrass her. Morgan seemed to care a little more about how he was seen by others than Agnes had ever done. Turning her eye from the lady and her kid, Agnes turned to her own son. His light- colored hair fell into straight locks around his face, he was sporting a hairstyle a little longer than she wanted him to but it was Morgan was terrified of the barber.

Looking up at her, Morgan handed her a toy truck. Looking at it made Agnes crack up, her loud laugh filling the aisle, shortly joined by Morgan's own. The truck wasn't a regular truck, it was a farm truck. "Wow. That's...a coincidence." she explained, Morgan's face scrunching up at the strange word. "Later." she said simply, and Morgan understood they would eventually learn that word even if it was way beyond his level at the moment. Shortly after, the little boy had started laughing as well, which made Morgan's head snap to glance at where the laughs were coming from. The little boy, who Agnes had learned was named Lucas thanks to the mother's loud voice, greeted her first.

"Hey little guy!" Agnes waved just as enthusiastically. At the boy's comment on Agnes, she simply smiled. The mother, however, didn't seem too happy to have to greet her. Was it not common sense to be polite? Was that not the one thing Britain priced itself for? Politeness. Figuring that the blue-eyed was still a upset, though maybe less bitchy, Agnes took Morgan's hand and approached them. With the best smile she could make, Agnes extended her hand to the other girl. "Hello. Not sure if you remember me." She said, her eyes not leaving the girl's. "I'm Agnes Beaumont. We went to school together."

Glancing down at Morgan, the boy hugged her leg, hiding away from Lucas and his mother. "This, is Morgan. He's close to your boy's age, I think." Maybe Agnes could tell the girl she didn't really care about Ryland Malfoy. Maybe it was an opportunity to make a new acquaintance, even a new friend. It wasn't so much that Agnes wanted a girl friend, but rather she wanted someone Morgan could go on play dates with, someone who wasn't towering over him. Someone his age, more or less.

Elita was a girl that could hold grudges for a long time. Centuries possibly. Agnes Beaumont was the one person that Elita hoped to never see again after graduating Hogwarts - yet here they were.Of course what more perfect timing than for her to have rounded the corner when Lucas was acting out. The girl inwardly sighed and she wanted to hide her face, however she would not allow the embarrassment to creep up on her like that. Instead, she would control her child in front of the girl that seemed to have her life together. Sure Agnes had been a transfer student and at one point possibly had a rough life because of it but looking at her now? Elita was envious of how well managed her life seemed to be.

She had watched as the woman had begun to laugh and then her son followed and she looked down to her own son. He was mesmerized by the light haired people in front of them - or more so Agnes. Elita didn't know why Agnes thought that her son holding up a farming truck was a coincidence nor did she care. In fact, all she cared about was getting to finish her shopping. Another glance down to Lucas and she could see that his huge eyes were transfixed on the boy in front of him. His brow furrowed a bit before he looked back to Elita for confirmation in which she nodded. Lucas was smart and for someone as young as he was, he had good judgement however he still looked up to his mother and as soon as she'd give him confirmation - he knew he was safe.

Lucas offered Agnes a huge smile when she greeted him back, his face lighting up like a thousand suns had been shining on it. "She sure is," Elita said to Lucas as he complimented the woman. She thought it was important for her to tell her son when he was right and wrong and he was right about this. At least for the most part. Everyone was pretty and Elita didn't want her son growing up and being told something different. Elita watched the two approach them, which made Lucas more excited. "Mommy, down!" Lucas shouted. "Only if you stay right here," Elita watched as Lucas nodded and when he did, she took him out the cart so he could investigate the younger boy some more.

Elita extended her hand back towards Agnes and painted a smile on her face. "Oh that's right," Elita said as if she could forget someone like Agnes. "Elita Malfoy," she added in case the woman forgot her name. Elita smiled down to the boy who had just been introduced as Morgan. "Hi," Lucas waved to Morgan, as Elita looked back up to Agnes. "Looks like it," the blue-eyed woman finally added.
