| Madeleine sighed as she curled up in one of the soft chairs of the living room. She was reading, but at the same time, she wasn’t. Sure, she had a book in her lap, and her face was looking towards it, but her mind wasn’t catching any of the words. It was a day or two after she’d arrived at Aeva’s doorstep, and Maddy still hadn’t quite found her peace with everything that had happened.
The little one growing inside of her had been making her feel pretty sick the last few days, and she guessed that it had been more because of what Jean-Claude had done to her than anything else. She knew that when someone was pregnant, that being sick was something that happened, but she didn’t know if this was anything different than that.
It was getting late, and still Aeva wasn’t home yet. And Maddy was starting to get worried, which was also part of why she wasn’t really reading.
Where IS she? Maddy thought to herself, beginning to wonder if she should call the cops or something to be sure that her sister wasn’t hurt somewhere or worse! After all, she’d seen Aeva almost dead before, and it wasn’t anything that she ever wanted to see again...

| Aeva had lost track of the amount of Firewhiskey she had down after 10 cups which was the equivalent to about 3-4 bottles. The young woman was absolutely wasted and in some hot guys apartment. Her lips were all over his and from where she was on the couch, she could see her clothes on the floor. What had happened? She didn't know but whatever it was was a lot better than what her week had been. It had been a few days since Maddy moved in but Aeva still hadn't gotten used to it and she was finding ways to cope. Tonight it was firewhiskey and a sexy guy, the night before it had been weed and a random squirrel.
After her one-night stand ended, the girl felt herself falling asleep but remember Madeleine was probably waiting for her so she scrambled to put her clothes on and ran out. Or at least she attempted to put her clothes on. She had ripped her shorts even more than they were already ripped and her shorts was on backwards. Her shirt was on right, but her shoes were on the wrong feet, it's a wonder she made it home. Then again, she didn't feel like anything was wrong, in fact she felt great as she stumbled the five blocks through London to her home, giggling at everything along the way.
Aeva's connected with the door and it flung off the hinges, creating a loud explosion sound causing her to double over in laughter, the smell of firewhiskey spilling into the house from Aeva's breath and clothes. "The Queen has arrived," she screamed, her arms in the air shoulder width apart. Her head was cloudy and everything was distorted but that made everything better, right? However, as she looked around her home, her face turned to one of horror and she stumbled into the kitchen to fill a bucket with water. Stumbling back to where her sister was, she threw the bucket of water over her. "Oh my god, your hair is on fire!!! We need to call 911!!!" Aeva panicked, how could her sister sit there and let her hair burn and not feel it?! Why was she looking at her with that weird look?

| Madeleine had been about to stand up and dial the police, when she heard a huge explosion like sound, and heard Aeva's strange sounding laughter. And the smell of cinnamon wafted into the living room where she sat, scared at first, because she didn't know who it was that was there, her heart pounding there in her chest, louder than the explosion even seemed, though that was likely because she was closer to her heart, then wherever her sister was, or what she'd wrecked. When the words were screamed out, Maddy felt fear and shock all rolled into one, like rice crispies and marshmallows, making rice crispie treats.
Except she was no treat…
In fact, she sort of thought all this was some sort of crazy trick.
It became VERY clear to her, only moments into everything going on, that Aeva was more than drunk, she was trashed, and it wasn’t only the way she looked that told her that. Maddy was about to stand up and try to get her sister to come with her to get water to drink, and bread to eat in the hopes that she wouldn’t feel terribly rotten (well, like Maddy would feel, surely, by the morning), but then Aeva was gone again, and then suddenly she was COVERED in water, hearing her sister panicking about having to call 911.
“AEVA! Stop! I’m fine! Wet, but FINE! I’m not on fire, I have red hair! Just like you do! You’re just drunk…”

| Aeva's body collided with the floor as she scrambled to find a phone. "We have to dial emergency! EMERGENCY" Aeva scrambled to stand up and shook the girl, not understanding why she was still sitting there. "EMERGENCY! EMERGENCY!" Her screams grew louder, the panic rising in her voice as she once again staggered across the room, this time to the empty door frame. "Emergency! Call emergency!! FIRE HAIR!" Her head poked back inside the door and stared at her sister and then suddenly, her sister grew another head.
Aeva screamed and shook her head, noticing it disappear causing a breath of relief to escape her lips before she remembered the problem at hand, the emergency. Aeva grabbed another bucket of water to douse her sisters hair and hopefully but she never made it to the sink before she puked. "mergency," she choked out, the bucket in front of her face. Suddenly she was on the floor but it was cold and white. "I'm in Antarctica!?!? Help me!!" the young woman exclaimed her face stuck to the ice that was actually just the cool wooden floor.
"No, fire!" she remembered again as Maddy tried to control her. "FIRE! EMERGENCY! HEEEEELP!!" The woman began to crawl to the door, using ice picks to keep a good grip on the ice. Drunk? No, her sister was a liar. She was always a liar and always will be. Aeva couldn't listen to anything the woman said. "LIAR! EMERGENCY!"

| Madeleine watched as Aeva collided with the floor, and though she felt as if she should know what she was supposed to do in a situation like this, she realized that she was frozen and soaking wet. The baby was making her feel sick again, and being chilled from the water wasn’t helping the red head. “Aeva! Stop!” she said to her sister, standing up as quickly as she dared (which honestly wasn’t all that fast). Aeva staggered across the room, screaming louder and louder still, which was making Maddy’s head hurt. Oh please… Stop screaming… she thought to herself, wishing that her sister would stop screaming, because right then, Maddy was fine, though if she didn’t get out of the wet clothes soon, she was almost sure that she wouldn’t be...
“AEVA!” Maddy shouted back, trying to get her sister to stop screaming. It didn’t seem to work so well either, however, and Aeva grabbed the bucket, likely to douse Madeleine in water again, but she didn’t make it that far. Throwing up there on the floor in the corridor, Maddy walked over to her and rubbed her back, glad that she’d finally stopped staggering. “Aeva… You’re not in Antarctica, we’re in your house, there’s no fire…”
Her sister kept shouting that there was fire and that they needed help, Maddy tried again to stop her sister, to no avail anymore. “Aeva… I’m not a liar, and I’m not on fire. I promise, I’m okay, you’re going to be okay…”

| Next thing she knew, Madeleine started yelling too and it was just a yell fest that Aeva didn't understand. She knew that Maddy's hair was on fire and that she was in Antarctica even though Maddy tried to tell her that none of it was true. It was cold, too cold and suddenly she wondered why she had chosen to move to Antarctica of all places. Surely there were warmer places right? Looking back to Maddy, she could see that it looked at though the fire had finally went out and Aeva breathed a sigh of relief. She was glad that her sister wasn't fire hair anymore and that she was normal and unburnt though she looked wet. "You're all wet, why?" Aeva's brow furrowed at the woman. "We're in Antarctica, it's dangerous to be wet here!" Aeva's voice grew a bit louder as she stared in awe at her sister. Did she not care that she was putting herself at danger of freezing solid?
"Stop yelling crazy lady!" Aeva shouted from the floor. She had been trying to sleep on the ice but it was near impossible with the yelling that was occurring. Why was her sister so loud? Surely she hadn't always been like this? Maybe THIS was the reason she always woke up with a killer headache and super exhausted. Soon, Aeva began to ignore her, ignore the yelling and focus on the penguins. "Hi my penguin friends! Long time no see!" She giggled while joining them as they slid across the ice on their bellies. It was like a slide, only flat and on ice and on your belly. It was quite fun, she really enjoyed it. Maybe, maybe she was actually a penguin.
The young woman lifted her hands and her eyes grew large. She WAS a penguin. There was no denying it. Her hands had now turned to flippers and they were black and soft and when she opened her mouth to say something, she tried making penguin noises instead. This was so cool!

| When Aeva asked her why she was all wet, Madeleine actually laughed. “Uhm… little sister, you doused me with water… And we’re not in Antarctica… We’re in London, at your house. And it’s cold because you kicked the door down, see?” Maddy pointed towards the now broken door, as Aeva’s voice grew louder and louder. The elder sister wanted to fix all of this, and she tried very hard to come up with some way to help, but it clearly wasn’t working...
Once Aeva shouted at her to stop shouting, but there had only been once that she’d shouted, only a single time, and it was just her sister’s name that she’d yelled. The worry had taken over, as she figured that it would, but when Aeva started talking to supposed penguins, Madeleine was both confused and terrified at the same time.
“Aeva…” Maddy said again, “Aeva, please, look at me… You have to believe me, you’re not a penguin, you’re sliding across the corridor on your sick…” Maddy had no idea what to do anymore, her sister was more than drunk, and she had no idea even how to deal with all of this any longer. She was cold and wet, and watching her sister slide down the corridor, seemingly thinking that she was a penguin?

| Aeva scoffed. As if. "I'd never do a such thing," she said, rolling her eyes as she came to a resting position laying on the floor. "I think you just went for a swim which is really silly considering the temperature is like below 0 and you're now going to freeze." Aeva shook her head, she wasn't strong enough. She couldn't harm a fly, she couldn't bust the door down, no way, not her. "I'm not that strong," she stated, her eyes growing tired. She yawned and stretched her arms, her penguin arms, her flippers.
Aeva didn't know why her sister was still here because Aeva was sure she told her to go away or maybe that was in her head or even in her dreams because Aeva wasn't mean. Or at least she wasn't mean on the outside. On the inside she maybe was harsh to her sister but on the outside she stuck it out, knowing that as the days went on all of this would diminish.
Aeva looked her sister in the eye, her mind sobering up for only a moment. "Why would I believe you?" Aeva couldn't, never again. Finally, she'd managed to scrambled to her feet so she was standing in front of her sister, her body bigger, stronger than Madeleine's. Aeva was always stronger, always bigger, always older - but not age wise. "It's bed time," the red head said before turning on her heel and making her way to her bedroom upstairs.

| Madeleine watched her sister roll her eyes and tell her that she’d never do such a thing, that apparently Maddy had gone for a swim, and the elder of the two red headed women shook her head and sighed. She wasn’t feeling so well, that was the truth, and she was starting to get a headache from all the noise going on. “It’s chilly, Aeva, but it’s not freezing… I promise you that…” she said to her sister, trying to calm herself down as much as she could. “And you may not think that you’re strong enough, but Aeva, you are… You did it, nobody was with you…”
Aeva looked up at her, asking why she would believe her, and Maddy couldn't help but sigh again. “Why should you believe me? How about because I’m your sister… And I’m worried about you…” Maddy hastened to her sister’s side, as she scrambled to her feet, trying hard to avoid the sick on the floor. She supposed that she’d have to clean that up eventually, but just the sight and smell of it was making her feel sick to her stomach…
When Aeva said that it was bedtime, and turned on her heel, Maddy wasn’t sure if she should watch her sister go up the stairs or what she should do, but Aeva was to the stairs before Maddy had made up her mind, which she took as the fact that so long as her sister didn’t fall down the stairs, maybe the door should be fixed and this sick should be cleaned up…
And so Maddy walked to the kitchen and got some things to clean it up with, taking in some deep breaths before she walked back into the corridor again, first lifting up the door as best as she could, setting a chair underneath the doorknob in the hopes that people would stay out of the house. Madeleine turned around again, away from the door and took in another deep breath through her mouth and not her nose, letting it out slowly. She really didn’t want to get sick, but she surely felt as if it was possible… Especially since now the sick was not just in one place…
Thanks Penguins… she thought to herself as she went back into the corridor and cleaned up her sister’s sick. Her stomach churned as she did it, but she knew that she had to clean it up, or it would get literally stuck there, and she wasn’t going to let that happen…
Finally she finished cleaning up, tossed the trash out into the rubbish bin and brought herself upstairs and took a warm bath before going to sleep herself, poking her head into her sister’s bedroom first, to be sure that she was okay.
“Good night, Aeva…” she said, with a sigh, and headed to her own room. “Goodnight…” she said and as her head hit the pillow, she fell into a deep sleep.
