Lucas was sitting in the clock tower which had become his refuge as of late. He still wasn't having any luck making friends even though he was trying. It just seemedalways went wrong with him so at least here in the tower he could be alone and to himself.

He was glad he was at school because then he didn't have to at least put up with the orphanage and the mean people that lived there. He had gathered around him a lot of books. Mostly fiction but that was fine with him as it let him escape into a world which he didn't have any responsibilities in. He had a series which he had grabbed hold of when he could. Mazerunner.

He was thoroughly engrossed in the book. He felt like he was growing fond of the characters...could even feel for them and he saw a bit of them in himself.
