There is veela blood in the Grunewald kids via their mother’s side. Estella Godard is originally french, a descendent of the Delacour family, though they have no relations to Fleur Delacour aside from possibly a great-great-great-great-grandparent or something. Somewhere in Scotland, Liesel and Falke know they have distant relatives, who also come from their same family line.
History: Most twins are known for being, more or less, alike. But, despite their similarity in appearance, Falke and Liesel had always been too stubborn to just go with the flow. In fact, from the very moment of their birth, they made a stand against the massively popular stereotype that twins
had to have the same birthday. Their mother had gone into labor rather early in the morning, but almost as if they were determined to be different from the start, Falke rudely waited until exactly 11:58 PM on February second to finally be born. Several minutes later, on February
third, his twin sister Liesel made an appearance. And of course, once they were old enough to understand, Falke and Liesel made sure that their birthdays were celebrated properly, and not crammed all into one day like most twins. Because no matter how close you were to someone, who wanted to actually share a birthday?
The city of Kaiserslautern was hardly a small one, but some edges of it
did border the Pfälzerwald forest. Being of a middle class family, the Grunewalds lived in a moderately comfortable home in the slightly more rural area of the city, with a large backyard and the forest within walking distance of their home. Which was a good thing, because the Grunewald family had far too many animals to ever comfortably live deeper in the city. Falke's family were intense animal lovers. That meant that they had a grand total of six dogs, two cats, and an oversized aquarium that housed a large array of colorful fish.
The twins' parents were good people, and were kind, but were very strict with their children. Which almost always ruined all of their fun - but, overall, their family was a loving one. Falke and Liesel were always very close siblings, and normally preferred to spend most of their free time together. Despite their different personalities, and their somewhat-constant bickering, they got along incredibly well, and missed each other's company when they were apart. For their ninth birthday, Falke and Liesel's parents got them a pair of Great Dane puppies, upping the family dog count from four to six. Falke's was a brindle colored puppy that he named Kasper, and Falke had never been more excited about a present in his life! Throughout the next few years, Kasper grew to follow Falke wherever he went.
At the young age of nine and a half, Falke showed his first sign of magic! He and Liesel were fighting more seriously than usual, and Falke was so done with her shit. And then the next thing he knew, all of her hair had fallen off of her head, and she was even more angry and he was laughing and his parents were incredibly pleased. Even though they were a pureblood family, and the twins always knew that they would go to a magical school, it was always reassuring to see a sign of magic that proved one wasn't a squib. After Falke and Liesel's eleventh birthdays, they received their invitation to attend Durmstrang Institute. In September of that year, they were off for school.
Appearance: Being one quarter veela, and possessing extremely fair features, Falke is a particularly angelic, innocent looking child. He stands only an inch taller than his sister, currently at 4'6", and at the present time has a generally lean, lanky build. He has pale skin like his sister, but unlike her has a head of very fair, almost white-blonde hair. His nose is broad and straight, and his jawline is sharp - both traits stolen from the heavy German bloodlines of his father. His eyes, inherited from his mother's side, are a soft grayish-blue, and match those of his twin sister almost exactly.
Personality: Despite being twins, Falke and Liesel have incredibly diverse personalities. While they do have similar interests and tendencies, they go about these things in very different ways. While Liesel tends to be outgoing and dramatic, Falke is generally calm, with a lot of control over his emotions. He's strongly opinionated, like his sister, but doesn't always
share her opinions. Since neither of them are afraid of saying how they feel, they often end up in friendly - and sometimes not so friendly - debates.
Falke, being far more objective in comparison to Liesel, takes a calmer, logical approach to confrontation than his sister - and than most people. He doesn't shy away from confrontation, but views it more as either a learning opportunity or a source of his own entertainment, depending on who he's talking to. Despite his opinions being rather difficult to sway, Falke is actually very interested in hearing other people's thoughts on things, and rarely gets offended when someone else's line of thinking doesn't align with his own. He likes to understand people, and the though process behind their beliefs. However, that doesn't mean that he isn't judgmental. For example, he
still thinks his sister is overly dramatic for all of her strange
activist thoughts.
Falke isn't incredibly athletic, but isn't the type of person to relax and do nothing in his spare time. He likes to constantly have something to keep his mind occupied, and tends to spend his free time drawing or listening to music, or learning something new. He's a very artistic person and knows how to play several instruments instruments, though piano and guitar are his favorites. He is also fluent in three languages - Norwegian, German, and English - and is beginning to learn French. He's an incredibly fast learner, and gets a lot of satisfaction out of his accomplishments. While he isn't necessarily cocky, he loves being able to demonstrate his unique talents whenever possible -
practicing his instruments when his friends are meant to show up at the door, or
accidentally breaking into some newly-learned french in the middle of a family meal.
In everyday life, Falke is on the quieter side. He isn't antisocial, or shy, and likes to be around people, but prefers to listen before speaking. While he has a lot of irrelevant talents, Falke's greatest strength is his eloquence. He's a very controlled person, even at such a young age, and his mind is always interpreting the people around him. He is innocent when listening, and lethal when speaking. Falke's strength has always been words, and he's impressively skilled at using them to his advantage. Between his calm demeanor, his charming presence that comes from being a quarter Veela, and his ability to always know just exactly what to say, Falke can be quite influential when he wants to be, and isn't afraid to manipulate people.
Despite his calculating and slightly manipulating demeanor, Falke is actually quite friendly in general and likes to be around people. Though he is good at manipulation, he also wants to be genuinely liked for who he is, and is makes an effort to be genuine with potential friends and his family. He likes to help people and make them happy,
if he thinks they deserve it. He's very loyal to those that he's close to, and can grow to become very protective in some cases - his twin sister being one. Knowing that Liesel can be hard on herself, and tended to take on blame that should belong to other people, Falke is quick to come to her defense.
Falke likes flying somewhat, but isn't particularly good at it an has no dreams of becoming a professional quidditch player - or even being on the house team. Although he loves to learn new things, his schoolwork occasionally suffers because he loves to learn new things on his
own terms. He invests a lot of effort into classes that interest him, but turns his efforts elsewhere when he deems a topic unimportant. His favorite food is bacon, like almost everyone else in the world. Falke loves animals, especially his dog Kasper, and dreams of one day becoming an animagus.
