Following Orders

Wade's stomach felt tingly as he approached Professor Vega's office. He had gotten lost the first time he attempted to look for it, but now he was sure of where it was. Despite the fact that he wasn't sure why she wanted to talk to him, he wanted to find out. The note she had left for him only mentioned his behavior and the annual project. Once he reached the door, he built up the courage to knock.
Professor Vega, with hair a bit curlier than he ever noticed, opened the door and he smiled at her.
"Professor, I believe you wanted to see me?"

After speaking to James Riddle, her Ravenclaw student, Selene continued her lesson plans, when suddenly someone knocked on the door again. It was Wade Malfoy.
"Professor, I believe you wanted to see me?" he asked. Much unlike James, who had been shy and awkward, Wade was confident and strong.
"Yes, I do. Please come on in Mr. Malfoy. Are you okay with me calling you Wade?" she asked him, leading him to her desk and offering him a seat.
"Wade, I want to discuss your comment. The one you whispered to your cousin in my class." she began,
"I may have forgotten to say this, but I do not like it when people talk behind my back. It's rude, and it says that you really don't know what you signed up for when you registered for my class. Also, I know that you, as a growing boy, have many feelings inside of you. Most of them are probably still unknown to you, but I want you to know that I am here to help you, not only in class, but also in life. Lucy has contacted me about your recent mood swings. She sent an owl a couple days ago, mentioning her concern, and suggesting that I talk to you, as you seemed to like my class. Is there something bothering you Wade?" she asked, the way she would ask her own kid.

"Yes, I do. Please come on in Mr. Malfoy. Are you okay with me calling you Wade?"
"Of course." Wade responded, walking in and taking a seat.
"Wade, I want to discuss your comment. The one you whispered to your cousin in my class." she began,
"I may have forgotten to say this, but I do not like it when people talk behind my back. It's rude, and it says that you really don't know what you signed up for when you registered for my class."
"Professor, I am very sorry. I have been quite....moody, recently. I know I shouldn't have done that, and feel free to take points off if you'd like." he apologized, but later regretted adding the last bit, as she may listen and take points off Slytherin, who was already in second place.
" Also, I know that you, as a growing boy, have many feelings inside of you. Most of them are probably still unknown to you, but I want you to know that I am here to help you, not only in class, but also in life. Lucy has contacted me about your recent mood swings. Wade was unsure of what to say; he thought Lucy hadn't noticed, and it surprised him that she had talked about it to Professor Vega.
"Umm, well. The thing is, I recently got a letter from my mom." He began, but hesitated a little. "Please, don't tell Gray about this, it's kind of personal...I don't care if it may involve Death Eaters."
Lowering his gaze, he noticed his palms starting to sweat, and he wasn't sure why he wanted to talk to Professor Vega about it, to her out of all people, but he wanted to.
"My mom sent me an owl recently. Apparently, she found some news about my father." he said, looking up at
his teacher, who seemed to have a puzzled look on her young face.
"You see, I haven't seen my dad since....Well, in fact, I haven't even met him." he trailed off, a bit embarrassed , "But, I think deep down, I knew he wasn't dead like everyone else said he was. There were some rumors that when he was younger, he joined....other Death Eaters...." Wade admitted, shameful, hurt, and most of all, angry.
"I thought they weren't real, that they were just rumors. But I'm starting to think otherwise. I really, really do think my father is alive. But he's with them."
His voice sounded angry but numb at the same time. He saw the expression on Professor Vega's face, and despite the fact that he just said his father may be a Death Eater, she looked at him with kind eyes, not pity nor fear. Just kindness.

She listened carefully to the Slyther boy as he spoke of his father. It was a tragic thing for an eleven year old boy to say, that his father was a Death Eater. Selene didn't know what to answer to him, but she suddenly remembered a young Malfoy boy who was around four years above her during Hogwarts. She wondered if that could be Wade's father. She had never talked to the guy before, but she had heard of him...and his bad reputation.
"Wade, what's your father's name?" She asked, curiously.

"Wade, what's your father's name?" Professor Vega asked him.
"Kellin Malfoy, Professor." he confessed.
At the sound of his father's name, Wade realized that this was really the only time he had ever said it. Of course, he had heard it form other people's mouths, and he had seen it in print on past Daily Prophet articles, but he had never dared to say it out loud, not even to himself. I was a strange sound, and he didn't like it.

The name echoed on the back of her head.

Selene was eleven at the time, and it was the first time she had wandered off alone into the Castle grounds. Normally, she wouldn't do such a thing, but her mother's words upon leaving were more hurtful than anything else she could imagine. She walked along the lake's shore as she watched the night sky fall upon her eyes. It was then that she saw two boys much older than her. One of them had dark hair and the other had blonde hair. From the crest on their sweaters, she knew they belonged to Slytherin. The dark-haired boy sat on a nearby tree, writing something on a piece of parchment, while the blonde one performed magic nearby. She didn't stop to watch them, she knew where she wanted to go. Quietly, she passed them, unnoticed, and ventured into the forest for the first time. Slowly, the sky grew darker and it got to the point where she couldn't find the way out. Scared, she moved quickly, unsure of where to go. Suddenly, she bumped into what she thought was a tree, but when she felt a hand on her shoulder, she knew it was someone. She was close to screaming, when the person holding her shoulder said "Lumos" and a bright light glowed on his face. It was the dark haired boy from the lake.
"You're too young to be out here. Don't you know the forest is forbidden? It's right in the name." he said with a harsh voice, and although his voice scared her, she saw a joke in his blue eyes, as though if that was all an act to scare a First Year.
"Kellin, she's a First-Year. Let's just take her back to the Common Room." said a voice from behind. This one was as loud and confident as the first, but much more softer. The boy came closer to the light, and she noticed his blonde hair. He took Kellin's hand from the girl, and with his wand, motioned for her to move forward.
"We won't tell, if you won't tell." said the blonde.
"Okay." was all Selene could managed to say.

Selene realized that the first memory she had of Hogwarts was of Wade's father and his friend. She had met him, but they never became friends. If anything, he and the other boy had saved her. It was strange to think that that same boy was the one most claimed was wicked. Throughout her years, she had heard about him and about how much he liked Voldemort.

As she looked into the Wade's eyes, she knew he was different form his father. Something in their eyes set them apart.

Professor Vega seemed to be thinking of something, and for a moment Wade wondered is she wasn't okay with him telling all of this.
"Professor, are you okay?" he asked.

"Professor, are you okay?" the boy asked.
"Yes, I'm sorry, Wade. Is there something else that you wish to share with me?" she asked him.

"Yes, I'm sorry, Wade. Is there something else that you wish to share with me?" She asked him.
Wade hesitated, wondering if he should continue or not.
"Well, not really...is there anything else you need from me?" he asked, hopeful that she needed help with anything, as he liked spending time with her.

"Well, not really...is there anything else you need from me?" The boy asked.
Selene shook her head, "No, Wade. You can go then." she told him.
As the boy was getting ready to leave, she gathered her papers and looked at him.
"Wade?" she began, "Take care, and enjoy your day."
After that, the boy left, and Selene was alone to think about what she had just been informed of.
