Aoife wandered along the corridor to dinner, too lost in thought to realise that she was going the wrong way, and bumping into just about every single person who passed her. She was mainly thinking about Phin, but also Hunter slightly. Not that the latter meant anything. She was just sad, because she had liked Phin's company, and having a dorky Hufflepuff outcast as a best friend. But after the match when he'd stormed off dramatically, when she was trying to defend him, she'd been really annoyed. Even more so when he had shown up to the party shitfaced and not wearing shoes. She'd wanted to yell at him and punch him in the face. Breaking the long string of days when she hadn't used violence once, which was a new record for her, being naturally angry and violently inclined. After a moment of walking down the corridor leading towards the main staircase, she realised that she was going in the wrong direction, and sighed at her own stupidity. Then she had to pull off a clever act of looking interestedly at a portrait, then casually going back on herself, so nobody would see what she had done. It worked pretty well, and she sped towards the great hall, suddenly feeling really hungry, and craving something chocolately. Like that awesome chocolate mousse thing she'd had the other night.

When she got there, she was one of the first, because of how fast she'd walked, so she just took a seat at the Gryffindor table by herself and started to pile her plate up with bacon. The good thing about Hogwarts was that her parents couldn't stop her from eating whatever she wanted, which was usually a lot of bacon, potatoes and chocolate, with no vegetables. She didn't mind being alone eating. With nobody there to make conversation, she could focus on eating the awesome food.

Ari was hungry. And when Ari was hungry, nobody was happy because Ari wasn't happy. So, to risk not getting everybody angry because Ari wasn't happy, Ari decided to head to the great hall for some food. Because food was delicious. When she arrived she didn't see anybody she knew at the Slytherin table, as it was a little early so she figured they were doing more important things.

But what could be more important than gracing them with their presence because Ari was just such a wonderful person. Even Derek agreed to that. Speaking of...Ari skimmed the Ravenclaw table and found no Derek. She sighed. She looked at the Gryffindor table to at least see if Hunter was there, maybe she could let him down softly that she wasn't in love with him anymore, but he wasn't there either. But Assfarts was, or what ever her name was. The one she met in Ireland when she was at the outing with her Aunt.

Ari sighed and decided it was better than sitting by herself. She put a fake Ari smile on her face and skipped over and plopped herself at the Gryffindor table. The girl was loading her plate with potatoes, bacon, and everything that wasn't vegetables Ari soon realized. Ari said, "I noticed you didn't have any friends, and all of my friends are not here, so I figured I would grace you with my presence since you have no friends." Ari actually didn't know if she didn't have any friends, but she would pretend to be her friend if she had to just so the girl could say that she had one.

Ari said, "How's it going? Oh I forgot your name because It's probably not better than mine or my best friend Matthew's, though he's been getting on my nerves lately. Do you have a best friend? If you do it's probably a fish. And you should name her Ari because Ari is such a better name than what you named it." Ari felt bad about what she said, but not by much. Mainly because Ari was so much better than everybody else, and particularly this girl with the weird name that she couldn't remember.

Aoife always enjoyed her food. There wasn't reason not to, and she was lucky being able to eat all the time when some people starved and all that stuff. But some people could still manage to put her off it. Like Ariadne. She really, really hoped that the girl wasn't like a past version of herself, ginger and Irish and self-centered. Because if she'd been like that in third-year, or was still like that now, she hated herself with a passion. The demon child, the perfect example of why people hated gingers, was completely unbearable. She was spoiled, stuck-up and an embarrassment to herself. And for some reason, she didn't like Aoife. So the Gryffindor didn't understand why she was walking towards this table. Deciding it didn't matter as long as she didn't sit anywhere near, she continued stabbing some bacon with a fork.

Only, then she heard the high, unpleasant voice echoing in her ears, and she inwardly groaned. "I have plenty of friends," she said, sounding defensive, but stopped, deciding she didn't need to rise to the bait that this little piece of shit was trying to provide. "Doesn't look like you're very popular today, though," she couldn't resist adding. "Your presence isn't so appealing, really. In fact I'd really rather be sitting next to anyone else. Instead of a stuck-up Slytherin brat with no friends." She hated to be so harsh, but she had always been easily provoked, and she was not in the mood to deal with this child. She was never in the mood to deal with this child. She reached out to pour herself some nice pumpkin juice, looking around the hall to see if anyone she knew was here, so that she could leave and sit by them, instead of Ariadne.

"My name is Aoife," she said, managing to sound vaguely calm. "And it's a hell of a lot better than 'Ariadne'. I mean, what sort of shit name is that?" She doubted the girl was listening, with how quickly she was talking and then moving on to a new subject. She couldn't believe that nice kid Matthew was friends with this girl. "For the record, I do have a best friend. He's called Phin. Nicer name than Ari, don't you think?" If her and Phin could still be called best friends.

Touché. Ari didn't know where Matthew or DEREK where. Ari shrugged and said, " touché. But they will come and find me here pretty soon. I plan to go with DEREK and Matthew to hogsmeade later. I originally just wanted to go with DEREK, but Matthew was standing right there and it would've been rude of me not to invite my best friend." But what she said next was a big blow in the stomach. "Stuck up Slytherin brat" very stereotypical.

But Ari wasn't any of those things. Ari mainly talked to others about all the wonderful things she did or was going to do just so they wouldn't have anything bad to say about her. But considering that Ari we being horrible to her, Ari figured she deserved it. Aoife was pretty. The name, not the actual human being Aoife because Ari was actually way prettier than the human Aoife. Aoife should be a name for a pretty person. And not her. Ari said, "Duh Ariadne is a stupid name, why do you think I go by Ari? Ari is wayyyyy better than Ariadne."

But then Ari realized she was doing it again. Making herself feel better about herself by judging this person who was actually much like Ari. For one they both had red hair and where both IRISH. But Ari figured that those Where just two things they had in common. If ARI actually sat down and had a decent conversation with the girl, Ari might figure out that they had more in common than being red headed and IRISH.

But Ari didn't have the time, nor the care to do such things. Ari just wanted to be ARI. And if she didn't like Ari, then it was her loss. And Aoife was right. Phin was a much better name than Ari. Even ARI would admit that. Curse this Phin. She needed to know who he was and why he would be friends with such an evil red headed freak.

Lost in Thought (Open) Empty
PostSubject: Short and shite, on my phone :(   Lost in Thought (Open) EmptySat Feb 07, 2015 1:10 pm

For once, Aoife actually wanted Hunter to be here. Or anyone else who she might be able to call at least "acquaintance". Anyone but this little shit, Ariadne. "I really, genuinely don't care about your life, or your plans for the day," she said, before returning to shoving bacon and potatoes into her mouth. When she'd finished the pile of food on her plate, she moved on to get some of that nice chocolate mousse thing from the middle of the table. She was hungry today. Even more hungry than usual. It would probably result in her getting seconds, and thirds, and fourths, of everything on the table. Minus the vegetables, of course. They were gross.

Feeling very uncomfortable, she often glanced up and around the room in search of anyone else. But then she remembered, it being a Hogsmeade weekend, a lot of people would be there. And she was pretty sure Hunter would be working. Great. She was stuck with AnnoyingAri. She had never been tolerant of people she didn't like in the slightest. Her mother had often told her she should be more tactful and less straight-forward about disliking someone, but that wasn't going to happen.

Unsurprisingly, the girl kept talking. Gosh, she was even worse than Aoife herself. "Yeah, why the hell did your parents try and name you that?" she said with a smile, inner facepalming when she realised that she sounded like she actually cared about ARI as a friend, or whatever. Oh, who cared? It wasn't the end of the world. It wasn't like she usually had to have much contact with the Slytherin, and she doubted that their encounters in her last two years at Hogwarts would be plentiful. And maybe she should try and be a bit nicer. Gingers had to stick together here, of course. There was no point in trying to make enemies when she was practically an adult. Sixteen and a half. In less than six months, she'd be a real legal adult. Which would be awesome and suck at the same time. At least it meant she was past the worst years of teenagerdom.
