| Inés walked from her family home, with Julian by the hand, and carried Alice's Adventures in Wonderland on the other hand. Her nephew loved that book, and by love...it meant the read-it-everyday kind of love. It was a little boring now, but the smile on his face was worth reading the same chapter over and over again. So they walked through the busy Paris streets and made their way to the always busy Eiffel Tower. "Do you think we'll see a Jabberwocky, Néssy?" Her six-year-old nephew asked, his brown eyes lighting up like a Jabberwocky was the most exciting thing in the universe. Inés smiled, "I don't know. Maybe." Really, the chances of the fictional monster being anywhere near them were impossible, but there was no way she could say something like that to a child. "Actually..." she began, "Seeing as it's pretty warm today, the Jabberwocky may be too scared to be seen." Cars and buses passed too close for comfort, but Inés and Julian had gone through the same path many many times before that it was all too familiar for them. They arrived, and the tourists were worse this year than ever before. There were so many Americans, too. Inés frowned a little bit, not because she didn't like Americans but because they were often too rude and casual about everything. They walked through France like it was theirs for the taking, when in reality all they had was the lame excuse for a country they called home. America was once beautiful, it was indeed the land of opportunities, but now it was worse than ever, a land of broken dreams. Still holding Julian by his hand, she walked him over to the green areas so that they could pick a spot. "Remember, you promised me Chipotle after our book." Julian reminded her, and Inés chuckled. This little boy would be a very demanding man when he grew up, Inés could just tell. As of right now, Julian had showed very little signs of magical abilities, which was another reason why Inés found it easier to spend time with him. Julian could turn Inés' hair purple occasionally, and that was always fun. In fact, Inés was already training him, to an extent, but she had to be careful as Julian wasn't able to control any of his magic, and therefore she had to come up with a quick lie in case any non-magical folk saw him using it. After a few more minutes of walking, Julian finally picked a spot, they got comfortable and Inés began reading to him. Usually, it was fine until the third chapter, when Julian usually got hungry. "Néssy!" Julian shouted out suddenly, "I want a burrito!" He stood up and threw his little arms around her, making her fall back and throwing the book in the air with the spontaneity of the whole act. "Fine, but let's just finish this chapter, or this paragraph at least." Inés replied, trying to pull herself together and grabbing the book again, but Julian was not having it. He stomped his foot like a spoiled brat and said, "No, I'm hungry. I want food!" and just like that, when his foot made contact with the ground, Julian sent green sparks of all shades in practically every direction. Both, Inés and Julian realized what had happened, and the little boy's mouth turned into the biggest 'O' as he covered it with his hands. "Don't worry, Julian." she said as she looked around, seeing everyone was too into their own personal photos and vacations that she doubted anyone noticed them. "I'm sure nobody saw anything." However, she put the book down and began to stand up. - Julian D'aramitz:

| After a tiresome morning in front of the camera, inside a random building, Mo was happy to leave it behind. He was going to have to go back tomorrow, and then he would be there all day until his plane was scheduled to leave back to London. So today was his only chance at getting to see Paris at all. He'd never been to the place, and he was surprised at how a great deal of people were particularly rude. He'd been to France before, to Nice, and the people had been absolutely delightful. But it was different in Paris.
However, the lack of manners didn't much matter to Mo. It basically just meant that he got to walk around undisturbed. Seeing the Eiffel Tower was a nice treat, and he went all the way to the top, amazed at the view, taking quite a few pictures himself. A friendly, fellow tourist asked if he wanted her to take a picture of him, but the mere thought made him cringe. He enjoyed his job, he really did, but today, he was tired. So he'd gently declined and returned the question, winding up taking quite a few photos, first of her and then her group of friends, and then to be recognized by someone else, and then the group of girls had become quite ... persistent on taking a photo with him.
Having basically fled the Eiffel Tower, Mo sighed and started walking up to the green park a bit above the tower itself. It would make for a very nice picture. He was walking backwards, trying to find the best perspective and started wondering if maybe he should take up being a photographer, when he took a picture and something sparked. He turned and saw a kid looking angry and a woman around his own age. The anger washed away and was replaced with shock and somewhat worried. Mo instantly knew that he'd seen it correctly.
He smiled softly and walked over towards them, giving them a anxious look. "Sorry to interrupt, but what on earth was that?" he asked, adding something resembling worry in his tone, and hoping they knew how to speak English. Not to mention that when people were magical, the odds of being recognized were much larger. He hoped it would not be the case here. A lot of things to hope for, but even so, he did. | |
