Shopping Trip (Jen) Empty
PostSubject: Shopping Trip (Jen)   Shopping Trip (Jen) EmptyFri May 09, 2014 7:10 pm

Although her day at work hadn't been so bad, Aisha was still in a bad mood. All she'd had to do was meet the new trainees from Hogwarts and basically talk to them a little bit, but it was her life out of work which was bugging her. Yesterday, she'd dropped the twins off to the platform, not to see them until the holidays. That reminded her, she'd need to owl them to check if they were coming home for Christmas.

After she finished at the Ministry, she decided a trip into muggle London might make her feel a little better. It had been a while since she'd gone shopping for pretty clothes, so the trip was in order. Maybe she could get the twins' Christmas presents while she was out. Wait... it was September. Maybe not.

True, she was still in her work clothes, but it was fine; it worked.

Covent Garden was her usual destination for shopping, since she could get pretty much whatever she wanted, with the wide range of shops there. Aisha could do with some more work clothes and maybe some casual stuff as well. For whatever trip she'd take the twins on at Christmas. That was SO happening.

Being the expert at shopping she was, the auror didn't take long to zoom through the shops and get all the stuff she wanted. And after she'd finished, since she had nobody to go home to and nothing better to do, she found herself in a cute little coffee shop ordering a skinny latte. Aisha took a seat at a table in the middle of the shop. People must envy her amazing hair and beautiful dress so much right now.

Looking very pretty in her cute little work outfit, Jen apparated to a quiet alleyway in London. Now that work was over for the week, she was going to pick up some food shopping and maybe get herself a pretty dress or something, just because she could.

Yesterday, she'd moved into her new apartment, which was amazing. A few weeks before that, she'd bought her car. Wow, she was so grown up. All this stuff, it was so weird but so cool. She wasn't little kid Hogwarts student Jen anymore, she was Unspeakable adult Jen. And so far, it was absolutely perfect.

After she'd wandered casually around a couple of clothing shops and dashed into the supermarket to get some food so she didn't starve over the next few weeks, Jennifer was ready to go home. But there was a little coffee shop in Convent Garden that she loved, so she decided on a little visit there first.

As it was quite warm, she ordered an iced tea and turned around to find a seat. A woman alone caught her eye. Her dress was so nice. Oh, and Jen was almost certain she worked at the Ministry. So she casually walked over and faked a bright smile. "Hi," she said cheerfully. "Am I wrong in thinking you're an Auror?"

It would be embarrassing if she was, but it wouldn't really matter. The muggle would just look at her like she was crazy and she'd walk away.

Aisha was amusing herself by people watching, the muggles walking outside the window and queueing for coffee. But then she saw a girl who definitely wasn't a muggle, since she worked at the Ministry. She stared at the blonde, who carried bags of groceries and, if she wasn't mistaken, something else.

It was certainly unexpected when she walked over to her. And for the first time, the Auror saw her smile. Obviously not real, what with how sullen she usually looked. Aisha pulled a similar face but it melted back into her usual smirk.

"No, that would be correct," she nodded. "Aisha Khan." She held her hand out for the girl to shake. From what she remembered, this was one of the recent Hogwarts graduates. And this one was an Unspeakable. There had been two new aurors this time around. Outside her department, she was pretty sure this girl was the only other graduate.

Jen wasn't sure exactly what to think of this woman. She was polite and friendly enough, but the smirk on her face said otherwise. It seemed Aisha was analysing her, as though trying to work out what to make of her. She took a seat without waiting for an invite, too curious to just walk away.

"Jennifer Moss," she said, gently shaking Aisha's hand and nodding politely. It seemed like a good idea to drop the fake cheerful act since it wasn't going to convince anyone, whether they knew her or not. "I'm an Unspeakable." Assistant. Jennifer guessed the woman already had some sort of idea of this already, but she felt it was the right thing to say.

Now, her manners. Good conversation starters. "How are you?" she began, her face straight since unrealistic smile was unnecessary at this point. The girl was trying to work out what kind of mood she was in by her facial expressions but they didn't reveal much. And this mood could be good or bad, depending on what type of person Aisha was.

"Nice to meet you," she smiled, still discreetly staring her down. Pretty, professional attitude, nice hair, expensive clothes. Aisha noticed all of this, even if most people didn't. She was the sort of person to care about what brand of clothes someone was wearing, however shallow it may seem.

Unspeakable, yes. Like usual, she'd been right. "Nice." It was a good job. Bit boring, though, compared to hers. "I'm an Auror," she added. But she probably knew that.

How was she? Unusual question, seeing as they'd only just met and that tended to be a question friends asked each other. "Not good," Aisha shrugged a little. "My daughters went off to Hogwarts yesterday." The expression she wore on her face showed how much she missed them already.

Feeling slightly more comfortable now that Aisha wasn't staring her down, Jen's small smile returned. "Likewise." She took a sip of her iced tea. It was nice, refreshing. This was a good little place and she'd been visiting for a long time. In fact, she had a vague memory of Leila taking her here when she was about seven to get her a milkshake and chocolate brownie. Cute.

Yes, an auror. Stupidly putting your life in danger just to fail at catching a few dark wizards. She heard very few auror success stories, but maybe that was just because she didn't read the news too often.

"Daughters?" she inquired, a little shocked. Wasn't she a bit young to have Hogwarts-age children? And she seemed sad that she'd managed to get rid of them. Why wasn't she celebrating? Did she not want a break from the brats? Jennifer could never understand why people wanted little monsters. She was not having children of her own anytime soon.

Yes, daughters. Aisha wasn't sure whether to be insulted or pleased. So her neutral expression stayed. "I adopted them at the start of summer," she said, slightly coldly. "Twins." Sarah and Nina, the two girls who she'd taken in and began to love as her own children. That was what they were now.

"I'll have to be going now," she added after a brief pause.

Her mother was coming over for dinner and she'd only just remembered. Before the scary woman arrived, she needed to get her house elf to cook something good up and find something nice to wear. Even at her age, her mother was absolutely terrifying. She was judgmental and mean towards Aisha. "Goodbye," she said as she stood up.
