New Job (Morgana) Empty
PostSubject: New Job (Morgana)   New Job (Morgana) EmptyWed Apr 30, 2014 6:07 pm

Her first day in her new JOB! Aoife was super mega excited! It was the greatest job ever in the history of all jobs ever. Ice-cream was on her top ten list of all the greatest things ever. The first thing, of course, was sheep, but it was quite high up. Along with family and friends and all that boring rubbish.

From what she knew, another student already worked there. But she didn't know who. As long as it wasn't Ryland or Jen or Seren, she was happy. However, Ryland worked in the Three Broomsticks, Jen had graduated (thank goodness!) and Seren was too snotty and stupid for a cool job like this. Aoife doubted she'd want it anyway.

The redhead skipped along the pretty streets of Hogsmeade before she came to the ice-cream parlour. Did she get free ice-cream working here? Or at least discounts? If not, she'd be outraged. Although she'd still spend all her money here and in Honeydukes. Oh, and on butterbeer. But if she was lucky, Hunter might keep supplying them with loads of it so she wouldn't have to spend money on it herself.

When she got inside and closed the door behind her, Aoife saw the girl behind the counter. Aha! Her colleague! So maybe it was that scary-looking Slytherin girl, but she only LOOKED scary. It was likely that she was actually very nice and friendly. Judging dictionaries by their covers was bad... that was the expression, was it not?

"Hello!" she beamed. "I'm Aoife!" She resisted the urge to add "and we're going to be BEST friends!" In case the pretty scary girl thought she was scary. "I work here now, by the way," she added, just in case she didn't know.

New Job (Morgana) Empty
PostSubject: Re: New Job (Morgana)   New Job (Morgana) EmptyThu May 01, 2014 7:40 pm

Morgana had risen early that saturday morning to get down to Hogsmeade a bit early, so she could stop by one of the shops to buy a new quill. Her old one had broken in the trunk on her way back to Hogwarts, something that had annoyed her immensely. One would have thought that being wizards and witches, one would actually take the time to add a spell, making it unbreakable. Well, if things were to be done right, they had to be done by her, wouldn't they.

So she walked into the shop and into the backroom, giving a nod at the shop-owner, who she was very thankful was still allowing her to work at the shop despite her seemingly constant displeased expression. He had mentioned that there would come a new worker, and Morgana was curious as to who it was. She hoped it wasn't someone obnoxious, and really didn't like the idea of more people behind the counter. Most people had a knack for talking too much…

She got behind the counter and put on her working face as the first customer entered the shop. "Hello, what can I help you with?" she asked, pleasantly, a very small, faint smile on her lips; her boss had told her not to smile to big, because it looked so fake. So she helped the customer out and kept a light tone, and the person seemed happy enough as she left with a cone and five scoops of ice.

She then started cleaning a bit around the desk, and looked up as a girl walked into the shop. She exclaimed a hello, and Morgana instantly deducted that this was the new worker. One of the Hogwarts students. Gryffindor. And bless her luck, it was the noisy one who was obsessed with sheep. Oh joy. Morgana gave a slight nod as the girl said her name was Aoife. She seemed to be wanting to say something else, but Morgana took to cleaning again as she said she was the new worker.

"Well, welcome," Morgana said, her voice calm. "Feel free to find your way around the counter," she said and finished the desk and cleaned the cloth. She turned to Aoife and leaned against the sink in the room. "And you're a … third year, right?" she asked trying to be as nice as possible. After all, it was only going to annoy Morgana more if she disliked the girl from the start.

New Job (Morgana) Empty
PostSubject: Re: New Job (Morgana)   New Job (Morgana) EmptySat May 03, 2014 11:11 am

Aoife had expected the older girl to be a little more evil and scary than this, but she actually seemed quite nice. She nodded in a very nice way, then said welcome, then was just... nice.

"Thanks!" she beamed, trying her best to be very sensible and not too loud and hyper. Apparently, she was loud and hyper a lot. But that wasn't true. She was totally normal. Everyone else was just quiet. Except when she had coffee that time, because then she was bouncing off the walls and screaming and dancing. Fun times.

What did find her way around the counter mean? A little bit hesitantly, Aoife walked slowly around the counter. Yep, she had found her way around it now. It was a good thing she'd just eaten, or else by now she would have leapt at the ice-cream and stuffed her face with every flavour she could find. That wouldn't be good.

Aoife nodded. The most awesome third-year, obviously. But that didn't mean much, since there weren't many awesome third-years. Just her and Hunter, really. And she was clearly superior to the floppy haired dragon. Except in terms of incredible hair, because his was so much nicer than hers.

"So... what's your name?" That wouldn't offend her, would it? Asking her name? Unless she had a name she hated and it was a very touchy subject? No, probably not. Because Aoife was waiting anxiously for when she got annoyed with her and showed her evil scary side. But maybe she was wrong and there wasn't one. Still, she was going to tread carefully.

New Job (Morgana) Empty
PostSubject: Re: New Job (Morgana)   New Job (Morgana) EmptySat May 03, 2014 3:35 pm

Morgana kept quiet, watching the girl as she walked around the counter. She seemed to think she was stepping on thin ice. Morgana supposed it was due to the rumours on school that Morgana was easily annoyed. This was of course a fact, but unless people acted stupid and idiotic, she normally didn't mind them. Then again, with her standards, stupid and idiotic was probably average iQ.

Morgana was glad there was a rumour, because rumour had it that Aoife was a bit of a hyperactive teenager, and hyper didn't suit Morgana well. So if it hadn't been for Morgana's rumour, the girl might have jumped screamingly into the store.

"Morgana," she merely uttered and noted that Aoife seemed ready to devour the ice at any given time. This made Morgana think about a few things, like their rules and their discounts and similar stuff. So she wondered where her boss - well, their boss - was.

Morgana pushed off the sink and walked into the backroom, noting now that their boss had strolled off already. So, Morgana was in charge of teaching the girl? That could be interesting. "Aoife, please come here," she said in the girl's direction, adding the 'please' to make her monotone seem more bidding than unfriendly.

New Job (Morgana) Empty
PostSubject: BLAME LINDSEY LOHAN THAT THIS IS NOT A GOOD POST :P   New Job (Morgana) EmptySat May 03, 2014 5:07 pm

That name was a bit scary. It sounded a bit posh, or maybe old-fashioned. Different, anyway. But Aoife liked it, just like she liked the girl! "'Kay, nice to meet you Morgana!" she smiled. Being what might be called "normal" was actually not that bad. Just weird. She preferred to be her usual self, though. It was much cooler.

When Morgana told her to come to wherever she was a little bit weirdly, she followed obediently. Oooh, exciting! This was the start of her super cool, ice-cream making adventure! What was going to be in this magical room where Morgana lurked? Something cool, of course.

Hunter worked in Zonko's. Even though pranks could be cool, ice-cream and sort of scary sixth-years were SO much better! Once she told him about this, he'd be so jealous. Did he know Morgana? Probably not, she didn't seem like the type of person to make friends with younger students.

"Oooh, nice backroom!"

New Job (Morgana) Empty
PostSubject: Re: New Job (Morgana)   New Job (Morgana) EmptySun May 11, 2014 2:49 pm

Morgana looked at Aoife as she entered the backroom. She did seem pretty excited. For a moment, Morgana suddenly thought the idea of having another worker here wouldn't be so bad. Aoife could deal with plenty of the customers too, and her happy spirits would be much more real to the customers. Sure, they who didn't know Morgana would think she was a pleasant girl, who was simply slightly tired, and like her fine, but Aoife would be so happy she might give the customers more energy because of it. So that was a good thing.

She did, however, feel her eyebrow twitch at the comment of a nice backroom. Sure, it wasn't messy and stuff, like many backrooms were, but it wasn't abnormally cozy either. A lot of boxes were stacked along the walls, all of them with a freezing spell, keeping the ice cold. There was a ladder stretched along the side of the wall, not a very pretty thing, and in the middle of the room was an old, round table with four chairs. Quite plain and simple, really.

"Let's sit," she said calmly and took a chair. "I'm not sure what the boss has told you yet, but I'll just start with the normal routines." She looked to the door and waved her wand at it, and it closed itself. She then cast an easy spell to make the door become see-through from their side, while still being a normal door from the other side.

"So, the simple things, being nice to the customers. The customer is almost always right, the exceptions being if they complain that their ice has gone bad. The ice is never bad here. And if they say you've scooped up the wrong ice for them, that's impossible, because the boss has learned a spell from the manager of the equivalent parlour in Diagon Alley, where whenever a customer says a flavour, the rims holding the ice will glow a slight blue. Customers won't see it, but you will, once you've signed the contract. So if I were to say butterbeer flavour, you'd see the rims light up. Of course, if it's a nauseas man or woman who wants to make a scene, and you're alone, just give it to him. If I or the boss is there, go talk to us. You could probably handle it on your own, but we've got a lot more expertise, and once you've seen me or the boss and how we do it a couple of times, you'll be fine to do it on your own," Morgana said. This was more than she had talked all of last schoolyear put together.

She then rose again, and went to get a piece of paper. "This is the contract," she said, giving it to Aoife. It wasn't a very full contract at all, simply a contract of behaviour and how to be nice to the customers. "Once you've signed this, you'll be an official worker here. You got all this?" she asked, studying the girl. It might be a lot of information, but Morgana was pretty sure the girl would be fine.

New Job (Morgana) Empty
PostSubject: Re: New Job (Morgana)   New Job (Morgana) EmptySun May 11, 2014 6:09 pm

Okay, now came the serious ice-cream making learning business. Aoife was going to be THE greatest ice-cream person in the entire world, even better than Morgana. And the older girl seemed to know exactly what she was talking about, so that actually meant something. Sit down? Sit down. She didn't like just sitting down and talking or listening. It was boring! She would rather be running around or doing cartwheels or something.  But this was part of the learning how to make ice-cream process so she sat down obediently.

The backroom wasn't anything totally magical but it wasn't anything bad! Ice-cream, chairs, a table. What more could she want? It was certainly sufficient for whatever period of time she spent working here. Hopefully, she could stay until she graduated Hogwarts, since it was going to be the best job ever.

The boss hadn't told her anything. But she didn't say this because if Morgana was going through all the stuff, it didn't matter. Wow, there was a lot to know. She tried to listen carefully in order to hear and understand it all. Aoife just nodded on occasion, unusually quiet since she was afraid she'd miss something vitally important, like what to do if ice-cream started exploding into flames. Unfortunately, that wasn't mentioned.

Mean, stupid and lying customers? Did they turn up often? Was she in danger of being shouted at for giving someone the wrong ice-cream? "Do you get many people like that?" she asked curiously. Even Aoife could admit the "customer is always right" thing would be difficult to keep up, but she was sure she'd manage. Maybe working here could teach her a few things about patience and being nice. No, it was too late for that now.

Contract. Scary, but she could manage it. She just nodded happily and grinned. It didn't look like there was anything interesting on the paper, so she signed it. Now she was an official ice-cream making awesomecool beautiful giraffe-friendly sheep. Her title was instantly ten times cooler. "Got it!"

New Job (Morgana) Empty
PostSubject: Re: New Job (Morgana)   New Job (Morgana) EmptyTue May 20, 2014 5:41 pm

Morgana watched Aoife as the girl was trying to swallow all the information. It was mere standard procedure that Morgana told her everything, it wasn't very necessary to remember it all. She'd be reminded by the customers all the time, so she'd get the hang of it pretty easily. Morgana did wonder how the girl would stand up against the horrible customers. Because they did exist, just as Aoife asked.

"Not very often, but it happens every now and again. I don't think I've had three whole shifts with no angry customers," she said with a shrug. She then looked on as the Gryffindor signed the contract. The minute the last letter was put down, Morgana took the paper and placed it on a shelf that read 'the Boss'. He regarded himself somewhat highly for Morgana's liking, but she didn't have to like him. She just had to respect him. Something that hadn't proved difficult.

She turned and looked at Aoife. "Now, the counter," she said walking outside again to stand behind the counter. She grabbed a hold of one of the many spoons. "When these get dirty, or you switch between flavours, just stick them in that cup over there by the sink. The water is always clean and will get the ice off instantly," Morgana said, pointing to the green, big papercup by the sink.

Morgana turned to Aoife again to make sure she was actually paying attention, and that she had indeed followed Morgana out to the counter and not having been glued to her seat in the backroom.

New Job (Morgana) Empty
PostSubject: Re: New Job (Morgana)   New Job (Morgana) EmptyFri May 23, 2014 8:27 pm

"Oh," she shrugged. "Well I'll be nice to all the customers! Promise!" It would be hard. But now she had promised Morgana so she had to keep the promise. That was the rules of promise. Being nice to all of the customers didn't mean free ice-cream for Blake, did it? No. He'd still have to pay, but she'd smile and not overcharge him. Because she was nice like that.

Aoife stared at where Morgana put the contract. "The boss" shelf? Was that how he regarded himself? That didn't sound like the Santa-Claus-style, happy, ice-cream and joy filled man that she'd imagined he'd be. Nevermind, it wasn't the sort of job where she had to talk to him much. She hoped, anyway.

When the older girl stood up and moved again, she bounced up out of her seat and followed, filled with enthusiasm! The counter! This job just got more and more exciting! It didn't seem all that difficult, just scooping ice-cream and putting the dirty spoons in that mysterious green cup. "Is that magic?" she asked. "Or... science?" Sometimes it was hard to tell the difference. Especially since she was bad at muggle science.

All these ice-cream flavours, it was amazing! "Ooh, is that strawberry?" Aoife wandered aloud. Strawberry was her favourite ice-cream. Well, it was before she found out she was a witch and discovered all the amazing flavours at the parlour in Diagon Alley. "And butterbeer! Wait... how does that work? Is the ice-cream warm?" That was so weird!

New Job (Morgana) Empty
PostSubject: Re: New Job (Morgana)   New Job (Morgana) EmptySat May 31, 2014 2:45 pm

Morgana looked at the girl as she seemed to decide to be nice, but she seemed to regret those words as well. Perhaps she had enemies. Morgana almost snorted. Enemies. What was the point. Being annoyed all the time? Seriously, stupid teenage shit. She didn't get it at all, and she didn't want to get it. "Good," she merely said to Aoife's statement.

Morgana raised half an eyebrow. "Magic. If it was science, it would fail," she said calmly. Also, science was a thing for muggles. They could live in their medieval world until they realized how this all worked. Leave them to their hard lives. Magic did make things simpler. Practical things, at least.

Morgana looked at the girl again as she asked if it was strawberry. What had she expected? That there would be no strawberry? She looked so happy about it. This was an ice cream parlour, of course there would be strawberry. So, Morgana didn't bother replying and found the girl's next question a tad more intellectual.

"It's magic, again. It makes the ice cream taste as warm as a normal drink of butterbeer would be. It is very popular in the winter season. We also have some other warm flavours, like the tea over there and the coffee over there. As well as firewhiskey, though it's not directly warm. We only sell firewhiskey in the evening, though, and of course to only to off age people," she told Aoife.

She looked around the room. "And you clean the tables when a customer leaves it. Every time," Morgana specified, so the girl wouldn't be one of those who left the tables to become sticky and disgusting. "And what you do then, is simply point at the surface of the table and say tergeo. It's an easy spell. Try it on this table," she said and deliberately spilled some ice onto the table.

She looked at Aoife and waited for the girl to try the spell out.

New Job (Morgana) Empty
PostSubject: Re: New Job (Morgana)   New Job (Morgana) EmptyWed Jun 04, 2014 5:15 pm

Damn! Morgana could raise one eyebrow! Aoife still hadn't figured out the art to raising both! Unfair! She really needed it to go along with her sarcastic remarks at Seren, so they looked a bit flashier. Maybe one day, she would be able to do it and look just as scary and unamused as her co-worker managed. Probably not, Morgana had a real gift there. Was there a spell that could help her?

"Yes, science is stupid," Aoife nodded. Wizards could do without it, but her muggle friends and relatives were stuck with trying to dissolve salt into water. And stupid pointless experiments like that. Science could only solve small insignificant things like how sheep made babies. Ew gross. Magic, however, could do awesome stuff, like change a sheep's fur bright orange. Or make a sheep fly. Yay, not gross!

Oh, so there was strawberry? Or there wasn't? Was that a stupid question? Yes. But was it stupid because everywhere had strawberry? Or because wizards were "too cool" to have the amazing muggle traditional flavour? She hoped they had strawberry, it was the best. Well, the best in the muggle world. Wizards had much better ice-cream flavours, of course.

Like butterbeer! "That makes sense. And it's awesome!" Magic really was much better than science. Science would never be able to make weirdly warm ice-cream! "I love tea! I have to try that flavour at some point! Firewhiskey, that sounds stupid. But whatever the people want. Customer is always right," Aoife murmured. She would force herself to learn that eventually. Until then, she would just try to not voice her opinion or annoy them too much. Hopefully she wouldn't get any of those really mean customers for a while.

Of course she'd clean the tables! How unhygienic and unintelligent did Morgana thing she was? But oooh, she got to use a cool spell. Instead of the old fashioned muggle thing where you used a cloth. She grabbed her wand from her pocket and stared at the table. She had to get this right first time. Her reputation depended on it. Okay. "Tergeo!" she tried, and it worked! WORKED! Only like the first spell that she'd ever got right first time! Even if it was easy, according to Morgana.
