| Seren was perfect. That much has always been clear. She was beautiful and lovely and others should respect her because of how much better she was than them. Perhaps if they were nice to her, they would learn something from her. Unfortunately, even perfect people couldn't be good at EVERYTHING. (Though for all intents and purposes, Seren was pretty close.) Because of this, it was with an ever-so-slightly less confident demeanor that Seren strode out onto the quidditch pitch, school broom clenched tightly in her hand. When she reached the center of the pitch, Seren took a shaky breath and made sure that she was alone (because making a fool of herself in front of anyone was an unbearable idea) before tentatively stepping a leg over the broom. Okay, you can do this, she told herself. Push off... NOW! Only for some reason, she just couldn't make her body listen to her brain. Five minutes later, she was still straddling her broom with her feet practically glued to the ground. With an angry sigh at herself, Seren flipped her unruly braid at her shoulder and made a determined attempt to make something of the walk over to the Quidditch Pitch. Taking a giant leap of faith, she pushed off of the ground hard, so that she couldn't take it back once she'd done it. And it worked! She was rising! Higher and higher and... TOO HIGH! Her heart caught in her chest as she made the mistake of looking down. The ground was only about six feet below her, but it looked like miles to Seren. With a slight gasp, she leaned forward, hoping to push the broom back to the ground. Unfortunately, it shot forward instead. With a shriek, she gripped it more tightly and closed her eyes. "STOP!" she shouted, though the broom couldn't hear her. "SLOW DOWN, YOU FILTHY PIECE OF PLYWOOD!" she exclaimed, once again to no avail. THIS WAS THE WORST IDEA WHY THE HELL HAD SHE EVER DONE THIS?! Just when she thought the situation couldn't get any worse, it did. She was slipping! She was going to fall off! WHAT WAS THE POINT OF A MAGIC FLYING BROOM IF IT WAS SO EASY TO FALL OFF? Wasn't there some kind of charm for that? Apparently, whoever had designed the broom wasn't smart like Seren. But it didn't matter how smart she was at the moment, because SHE WAS GOING TO DIE. It wasn't long before she lost her grip on the broom altogether, and she screamed as she hurtled through the air (all five feet on it) and landed in a heap on the ground. But something amazing had happened. SHE WASN'T DEAD! Well, that was a plus! But HER HAIR! It was a mess! And her knees and hands and back were covered with mud! Thank goodness nobody was there to see her in such a state. | |

| After a year and a half of practice, Hunter had finally decided to try out for the house Quidditch team - and amazingly, he had made it onto the team as chaser! He was more than happy with the position, since chasers were responsible for scoring goals. It was a bit like a mix of soccer and basketball, both of which Hunter was pretty good at, so he was relatively confident in his ability to bring something to the team. Amazingly, Aoife had gotten the position of beater! Secretly, Hunter thought that nobody else must have tried for it, because Aoife was far too small to but much force behind a magically powered flying ball meant to knock people off their brooms.
Anyway, he was headed to the Pitch to get in some extra practice before their first game. The last thing he wanted to do was ruin it for Gryffindor by not being up to par when the day came! So he shouldered his broom and jogged across the grounds toward his destination. When he arrived, he had planned on ducking into the locker rooms to find a quaffle to practice with, but a scream from the middle of the pitch caught his attention. That didn't sound good.
Changing direction, Hunter broke into a full-out run to see what was going on. Whoever was screaming definitely sounded like they were in trouble! He emerged onto the Pitch just in time to see a broom go shooting past him just a bit above his head with a dark-haired girl clinging to it as though her life depended on it - wait, that was Seren! "Seren, don't lean forward like that, it'll only go faster!" he shouted after the girl, though judging by the terrified state she was in, he wasn't sure if she would hear him. "Sit up and pull the handle toward you!" he tried again, but it was no good.
A minute or two later, the girl was sprawled on the ground. It was kind of funny to watch, honestly, and she hadn't fallen from high enough to do any terrible damage. But she could still be hurt enough to warrant a trip to the hospital wing, so Hunter decided to hold his laughter until he was sure that she was fine. She'd fallen going pretty fast, after all. Dropping his broom on the ground and running over to her, he slid to a stop a few feet away. "Seren, are you okay?" he questioned her, gazing down at the disheveled girl. It was strange to see her so - so dirty? She was usually - always, actually - well put together.
"Here," he said, offering her a hand to help pull her to her feet. She seemed to be alright, so Hunter could afford to be a little more easygoing now. "So how exactly did you manage to pass flying last year?" he asked her, a grin forming on his face. "I mean, no offense, but that was pretty horrendous."

| Oh no! Someone HAD seen her! And not just some stupid random first year that she could yell at and send on their way. It was Hunter! Staring up at him in shock, she quickly surveyed the area surrounding them. Where Hunter went, his monstrous little friend usually followed, and the last thing that Seren needed was that FREAK having something to hold over her head. But surprisingly, miss I'm-a-sheep O'Donnell was nowhere to be found.
Letting out a small breath of relief, Seren still had to deal with the problem that HUNTER had seen her fall. He probably thought she was a complete fool. He was wrong, of course, but Seren didn't want him to think that of her. But he didn't SEEM to be making fun of her (because he was SO MUCH NICER than his stupid red haired friend). He was trying to help her up! "I'm fine." Still flustered, Seren took his hand and let him help.
NOW he was making fun of her. Snatching her hand back, she shot him a glare. "I passed just fine, thank you very much!" she said, her eyes flashing. Hunter might be cute, but Seren didn't stand for ANYONE making fun of her. "I just haven't flown in a while, that's all. What are YOU doing here, anyway?" Well, that was one way to make herself look stupid. He was on the quidditch team, wasn't he? And top of their flying class last year. It made SENSE for him to be here. So she quickly turned the conversation around a bit. "And where's your creepy little shadow?" There. When all else fails, insult Aoife.
