Everyone

Time: Christmastime, 2026

Ella had been up all night along with Aoife and Evan decorating the Great Hall for the form Christmas ball they were about to host.  As they finished the last little bit of decorations and set out the last table, they sighed and looked to each other. Smiling, they silently decided it was time for them all to go get dress and as they walked out the Great Hall, they parted directions.

The Great Hall shone and sparkled as light bounced off the icicles that hung from the ceiling. The main set up looked like a replica of Harry Potter's Yule Ball. The tables that were set out around the room held loads of food and decorations. White chandeliers hung over the tables causing to Hall to be lit but not too brightly.  As a finishing touch to the decked out Hall, Evan, Aoife and Ella had combined their powers and caused snow to endlessly fall from the ceiling but vaporize as it hit the ground.

A red carpet and velvet rope led through the entrance into the room to make the students and their guests feel special.  The huge tree at the front of the room shone and sparkled like small twinkling stars and presents littered the underneath part. The floor was adorned to look like ice, however, it did not hold the slippery effect that ice held.

Ella carefully applied a touch of make up to her face and began to get ready. She combed out her hair and curled it. She then painted her nails a wintry blue and silver colour and pulled out her dress. Her dress and heels  were a sparkly silver colour and it just happened to look great on her. Last but not least, the only piece of jewelry she put on, was the Dove pendant from her mother. As she looked herself over in the mirror, she raced out the common room and met Aoife and Evan.

As the time grew later, the students and professors began filing in, their chattering voices greeting Ella, Aoife and Evan as they managed to beat the crowd in order to welcome their guests. They turned on the stereo system and blasted music throughout the Great Hall.

PostSubject: Re: Term 6 - Winter Ball - Great Hall - Everyone   Term 6 - Winter Ball - Great Hall - Everyone EmptyTue Dec 24, 2013 9:50 pm

So there was going to be a Winter Ball. Aylee was looking forward to it just as much as she wasn't looking forward to it. Reason? The last proper party (as in the Halloween one) didn't go so well, as it ended up with her duelling with one of her best friends who was under the Imperius Curse and practically arguing with the Headmaster. She groaned as she thought of it. Nevertheless, she decided to go with a red theme, in order to be more Christmas-y. She found a red strapless dress with a matching red and black bracelet. Along with that, a black jacket in case it was cold and black ballerina shoes. And a tiny black bag which she had charmed to be big on the inside, to hold the presents that she'd be receiving. If she would receive anything, at least. She knew that her family had gotten her a gift but she was still unsure whether anyone else would waste time to get her a present. She let her hair down, in a normal way without any curling or straightening or styling. After Aylee got dressed, she walked down towards the Great Hall while looking around to see if she could spot her brother. She didn't. But Kynan was always late for everything so she figured that she'd meet up with him later.

At the entrance, Aylee literally held her breath. It was a red carpet with a red rope, so it actually felt like some kind of Hollywood premier. She let out a gasp as she entered, staring up at the beautiful ceiling and decorations. It was too beautiful. There was imaginary snow falling, and with the icicles and all it looked like it was freezing but the hall was surprisingly warm. Aylee let out a small laugh as the music came on. But as she saw everything, she felt alone. None of her friends were there at the moment. Then she saw Evan, Aoife and Ella nearby. According to rumours, those three were the ones to organize the ball. Without hesitating, she walked over to the trio and greeted them, "Hello! Great job on this place, it's amazing!"

After finishing the decorations, running upstairs to get changed as fast as she could and then running back down again, Aoife was ready for the party. Exhausted from all the time spent decorating and still panting from getting dressed so quickly, but ready. The hall did look great, but she did feel a bit like Ella and Evan had done all the real work. "It looks great, Ella...and you too!" she smiled. "You did it all really well." Even though she didn't really like the shoes. But she didn't point that out. SeriousAoife tonight.

She was standing next to the door, ready to jump out at any of her friends who turned up and be congratulated on her amazing party ball thing. Aoife hated her dress, since her mum had bribed her into wearing it, mainly because it was a white dress which was girly, pretty and boring. It could do with more pretty colours. Not pink. It was okay, though, since she'd picked her own shoes. Grey converse. Which looked great.

Aylee was the first one to come in, so she beamed at the girl who looked really nice. "Hi Aylee-la! You look pretty nice...you know...I couldn't pull off a pretty dress like that!" She genuinely meant that. Because she didn't do pretty dresses. No, she did jeans and hoodies and they were never white because she always got covered in mud. So it was admirable of Aylee, to risk that.

As she waited for anyone else she knew, Aoife wiggled a little bit to the music. The great dancer she was.

Darcy was very exited for this ball and had prepared her dress three days ago. She had changed the dress at least seven times before finally settling on one, though, and now she was dressed in it. She had decided on black, because she had been told by someone very reliable that black did dampen the Veela charm, though maybe not completely. She just hoped it was right and that she got to be talking to more people without being judged before even having uttered a word. She shook the thought away, got into her ballerina shoes and tripped out of the Gryffindor tower, her smile wide and happy.

As she reached the Great Hall, she entered through the doors. And her mouth fell open. It was so ... beautiful. Not to mention breathtaking. What on earth had they done to this hall? It was beyond words. The icicles, the chandeliers. Everything was perfect. She gave a short chuckle and took a few steps further in. She then beamed as her eyes landed on Aoife and Aylee. She didn't know the other girl there, but she gave them all a smile nonetheless.

"Hey there. You guys look really good!" she said happily and gave a nod to the girl she didn't know. "I'm Darcy," she introduced kindly. "And who arranged this? Because this is beyond amazing!"

Apparently there was a ball. A Christmas ball. Hunter wasn't too excited - a ball meant dancing and dressing in nice clothes and acting proper. He wasn't much for any of those. But, apparently Aoife had helped to plan it and some of his other friends would probably be there, so Hunter decided to go. Who knows. It could be fun... maybe... But honestly, what kind of eleven year old boy was excited for a ball?

Shortly before the festivities were supposed to start, Hunter changed into a more formal attire. He dawned a burgundy button-down and a pair of dress slacks, and - unfortunately - a red and black striped tie. He didn't own dress robes - he didn't even know what dress robes were supposed to look like - so he shrugged his usual Gryffindor robe on. At least it had red accents, so it sort of matched. He'd probably take it off as soon as he got there, anyway. He barely glanced in the mirror as he left the room. He looked alright.

He made it to the Great Hall without incident, and looked around in slight awe as he entered the great hall. It was hardly recognizable as the place where he ate his meals. He located where a small group of people was gathered and realized he was pretty early. Oh well. He approached the small group that seemed to consist of Aoife, Aylee, Evan, Darcy - the confusingly pretty girl - and an older girl that Hunter hadn't met before. "Hi!" he said brightly as he approached them. "Great job on the Great Hall, guys," he said to them. Unfortunately, his compliment included Evan, but that couldn't be helped.

Aoife was dressed in a white dress. It was... well, it wasn't really very... well, Aoife. Either way, it was proper to say that she looked good, even if he wasn't so sure what he thought of it, wasn't it? "Aoife, you look - " The words had almost escaped him when he remembered the Defense Party. He'd told her she looked nice there and she responded awkwardly. And he didn't even mean it completely this time. So he changed his mind halfway through his sentence and wound up saying, "You look plain," instead. It sounded much worse coming out of his mouth than he had anticipated. Well, good job, genius, he thought to himself. Could I be any less smooth?

Then Darcy came in. Aoife didn't really have anything against the girl. It was only that Hunter couldn't take his eyes off her. Which wasn't nice at all. "Hi Darcy," she smiled weakly. Her best friend hadn't come yet, so she was alright for the minute. Thinking about it, she was actually alright-looking. Not so much tonight, but at the dinner party- no, no, no. Stop thinking about how pretty Darcy is. "Ella arranged it mostly." ModestAoife. But she was ignoring Evan.

When she saw Hunter had arrived, she practically bounced towards him. BouncyAoife. Maybe if she positioned herself just right...he wouldn't see Darcy. "Hi!" she beamed. "And thanks!" How about they moved away from Evan now. She not-so-subtly shuffled a little bit further away from the Ravenclaw boy.

"I know. It was an invasion of my human rights. I was FORCED to wear this dress and- anyway, I think it needs to be more colourful. You look great, by the way!" It must have been so much harder for the boys to look fancy and Hunter had done it pretty well. Even if he was wearing his school robes over the top. Probably a cool thing.

PostSubject: Re: Term 6 - Winter Ball - Great Hall - Everyone   Term 6 - Winter Ball - Great Hall - Everyone EmptyWed Dec 25, 2013 1:21 pm

To be honest, she wasn't particularly looking forward to the Winter Ball. As far as she knew, nobody she actually liked or could have a good conversation with was going, other than Evan, so it would probably be really boring. The only reasons she was going were that there would probably be good food and someone may have gotten her a present. Oh, and she wanted to see Aoife and Hunter's faces when they got their empty boxes from her. But she wasn't going to make any effort.

It had taken Jen about five minutes to pick clothes for the party. To be honest, she didn't really care how she looked for a stupid Christmas Party. Nobody would even glance at her outfit. So a few minutes before the party started, she looked through her cupboard and picked out a red dress, white flats and a couple of Christmas-ish jewelry accessory things. After putting it on and messing with her hair, she was quite pleased with how she lookedd. Showed how she didn't even need effort to look amazing.

Feeling incredibly glamorous, she made her way up to the Great Hall. It seemed not that many people were here yet, so she wasn't embarrassingly late. Or early, either. Jennifer glared at Aoife and her weird little boyfriend, then walked over to Evan, whom nobody seemed to be talking to properly, which was good. "Hi," she smiled. "Happy Christmas! Did you help set this up? It looks great!" Really nice and sparkly and pretty.

PostSubject: Re: Term 6 - Winter Ball - Great Hall - Everyone   Term 6 - Winter Ball - Great Hall - Everyone EmptyWed Dec 25, 2013 3:57 pm

Aoife bounded toward him when Hunter greeted her. Thankfully, she didn't seem to want to stay near Evan. She must still be mad at him for the snowball fight incident. Serves him right. Hunter would be lying if he said he didn't feel some satisfaction that Aoife was staying away from the boy. She stopped right in front of him, in between him and the others. She seemed to be in a good mood.

Aoife didn't seem to be offended by his statement - actually, it looked like he'd said the right thing. Too bad he only said it because that's what that Evan did at the Defense Party. That was kind of cheating, but it was in the past, now. Hunter vaguely glanced toward the direction that Darcy was in, but her back was to him so he luckily didn't get that strange feeling that he got the other day.

His eyes easily turned back down toward his friend and he grinned. "It could be a little more colorful," he agreed. "Your shoes are good, though!" Hunter added. He couldn't insult the girl's appearance - even though Aoife didn't see it as an insult - and not follow up with some kind of compliment. Besides, the converse were the only thing Aoife had on that made sense. Then Aoife complimented him.

"Thanks, I guess," he shrugged. "I wish I didn't need the robe, though. Or the tie... Oh, look who it is." Hunter turned his attention toward the entrance as someone entered the great hall. It was the evil blonde Slytherin girl. She strolled in like she owned the place and glared right at him and Aoife. Suddenly, Hunter was more aware of the aching bruises on his arms and shoulder, and he sent her a dark look back. After the older girl was done glaring, she went straight to Evan. "Maybe we could shove a pumpkin pasty in her hair," Hunter suggested jokingly, glancing sideways toward Aoife.

Lucia smiled at the thought of a ball. She hadn't been to one of those since she was a student at Hogwarts. Also, having a job here, knowing she was an authoritative figure to the students, she thought it would be very much fun to be around them like this. She got into her dress and took on her shoes. Her hair she simply left loose.

She walked out of her chambers and made her way to the Great Hall. As she entered, she smiled, the place completely stunning. She saw a group of students standing nearby each other. She recognized all of them as students taking her class. She smiled at that. She loved that Potions was a rather popular subject. She really enjoyed teaching them.

She walked over to them with a smile. "Well done on this prom," she said, giving a smile to Ella. She would compliment Evan and Aoife on this as well, if they didn't seem to be busy in their own conversations. She gave it a look around again, "It really brings back memories." She then grinned at herself. "Oh wow… That makes me feel old," she said jokingly.

Term 6 - Winter Ball - Great Hall - Everyone Empty
PostSubject: Re: Term 6 - Winter Ball - Great Hall - Everyone   Term 6 - Winter Ball - Great Hall - Everyone EmptyThu Dec 26, 2013 2:05 pm

Aylee couldn't help but blush a bit at Aoife's compliment. "Hi!" she greeted the girl. "Thanks. You look pretty, too." Of course, she was lying. In her opinion, Aoife's outfit was too plain and dull. Too dull. It didn't fit Aoife. Suddenly, there was Darcy. The two didn't have a great history, but what a better time to make it up than Christmas? "Hi Darcy!" Aylee turned around to greet the Gryffindor, and gasped. "Woah, you look stunning!" The dress was beautiful on Darcy. Then she could hear Hunter's voice telling Aoife how plain she looked. There were so much people then that Aylee couldn't keep track of things anymore. She decided to go over to the Christmas Tree and open her presents. "Hi Hunter," Aylee told the little first-year which she had sneaked out to Hogsmeade. "If Kynan asks about me, tell him I'm stealing his presents." She grinned, then walked over to the huge tree just as Professor Henley joined the group.

On the way, she bumped into a stereo and put in a song before pressing play.

To be honest, she had only expected one or two presents. Maybe from her family and Sydney. But as she saw the pile addressed to her, Aylee could count about seven, eight presents? Her eyes opened wide with surprise. Eight presents addressed to her! She sat down on the floor, next to the tree, with the pile of presents in front of her and started checking who the presents were from.

Kynan, Aoife, Morgana, Hunter, Darcy, Ryland, Lucy, and Ella. Woah. Just, woah. Without thinking about it, Aylee opened the present from Ryland. She looked at the note, "For the beautiful Aylee." and let out a soft laugh. Her face turned bright red as she opened the box with pretty wrapping paper. Then, for a moment she looked at the wrapping paper. Birds. That totally reminded her of Ryland's bird spell. Smiling to herself, she opened the box and took out the first thing she saw- the bird pin. Absolutely normal people would think, Oh what a pretty bird, I wonder what kind of bird it is. But absolute bookworms like Aylee would think, Mockingjay pin. Katniss Everdeen. The Hunger Games. Her eyes lit up. The Hunger Games had to be one of her favourite trilogies ever. How Ryland knew that she didn't care. She practically fell in love with the pin. Immediately she put it on her dress, somewhere where it could be hidden by her jacket or someone would probably think that she was mad. Aylee smiled and looked at what else was in the box. A tiny rose jewellery box and a Hakuna Matata bracelet. Honestly, she didn't care much about the jewellery box and the bracelet, but she still liked them. She put the bracelet into the jewellery box and set it on the floor next to her.

After that, Aylee decided to see what Lucy got her. Hopefully not a poisonous cupcake, which she had been scared of getting from Lucy. Ever since the little Care of Magical Creatures incident, she'd been trying to keep her distance. Slowly, she opened the present and looked at the note. "Merry Christmas Aylee! Hope you like the book!" Book? She opened the present and gasped at what she saw. There was some kind of perfume, a pretty denim jacket, some chocolate frogs and a book. Eleanor & Park. Aylee had never heard of the book. She looked at the back of the cover and quickly read what was on there. So it was a romance book. She raised her eyebrows, still grinning. Was Lucy making fun of her? "Just like Kynan," she muttered as she took one of the chocolate frogs and ate it. Okay, it wasn't poisonous. Smiling to herself, Aylee shook her head, packed Lucy's gift back into the box and set it next to the tiny jewellery box.

She looked at the remaining presents, and picked up Hunter's. It was a surprise, because she didn't know the boy very well. Aylee opened the present, picked up the note and laughed. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey DVD! Like Hunter had said, she had read the book, but she had never got round to seeing the movie. Then there was an eagle leather journal or notebook. But whatever. She smiled at the eagle (Ravenclaw!) and opened the book to skim through the pages. It was empty. Aylee was too surprised to wonder how everyone was so nice. Hogwarts was so much different than Primary School! She looked at the two quills, too, and made a mental note to thank Hunter later. Purple was her favourite colour. Quickly, she packed the things back into the box and set it down next to her. Then she decided to open Aoife's gift next. It was a white box with blue ribbon on it. Wondering what was inside, Aylee undid the ribbon and opened the box. A Hamtaru soft-toy, a Merry Christmas badge and a Rowena Ravenclaw Chocolate Frog Card. "Woah!" she muttered as she picked up the Chocolate Frog Card. The card was supposed to be really rare. She made a mental note to thank Aoife later, too. And to put the Hamtaru soft-toy on her pillow. It was too cute not to. She'd never watched Hamtaru before, but all she knew was that it was about hamsters. Packing the stuff back into the box, she set it aside.

She looked at the presents that were left. Kynan, Morgana, Darcy and Ella. Curiously, she opened Morgana's box. What Aylee saw really surprised her. A sparkly strapless dress with matching heels. Heels. Dress. They would be too uncomfortable for her to wear. She never wore such things. It was really nice of Morgana, though. Biting her lip, she quickly put the things back in the box and reached out for Kynan's gift. According to Kynan, it was from him, mum, dad and Ethan. It was a bit heavy. Aylee opened it and gasped. A brand-new Chronicles of Narnia book set, Queen Lucy's crown and flask which were used in the movies and a blue diary. "Oh my god!" she muttered as she picked up the fake crown. It looked so real. Then she read Kynan's note. After all this time, she never noticed how well her brother knew her. Lucy was her favourite character from Narnia. Aylee smiled and picked up the tiny flask. Juice. Slowly, she packed the things back into the box, too.

The next gift she opened was from Darcy. She read the note, grinned and picked up the jumper, actually hating the grey colour. It was a really dull colour. But it looked pretty comfortable. As she was about to but the jumper back in the box, she noticed the slogan- "Girl on Fire". Another Hunger Games moment. Aylee grinned and picked up the tiny snowflake ring. It was really cute. She put it on. Then she closed the box and pushed it aside. The only present left was Ella's. This was a really big surprise to her, because after meeting Elita in the Gardens, and hearing about Ella's betrayal, she was actually scared. Aylee snuck a glance at the group of students near the door, at Ella. Suspicion. That was what she felt at the moment. Turning back to her present, she opened it. It really wasn't what she had expected. More clothes. A white jumper with a pretty slogan, red leggings and a matching red scarf. Woah. She smiled at them and put them back in the box.

Now she really wanted to thank those who gave her gifts. Eight presents. That was way more than she had expected. Aylee slowly put her presents in her little bag, which luckily was charmed to have loads of space, and then stood up. Her idiot brother Kynan still wasn't here, so she decided to go bother Aoife and Hunter. She walked over to the two with a smile on her face. "Thank you for the gifts, you two!" she exclaimed, hugging Aoife and Hunter like they were little kids that looked so cute that they needed to be hugged for whatever reason. "They're really awesome!"

Aylee had said her dress was nice. She shrugged. “I don’t like it...plain and girly. But thanks, anyway.” Then the older girl had gone away. Probably embarrassed to be seen with uncool first-years. No, that wasn’t Aylee. She noticed that she’d gone towards the tree to open her presents. She’d put her gifts there earlier, so hoped Aylee liked hers.

“Thank you!” Aoife beamed. She loved those shoes. However old and wrecked they unarguably were. “I cleaned all the mud off them specially!” She didn’t have time to respond to Hunter’s next statement because he’d noticed the evil queen walking in. Looking great but she wasn’t about to say that. And glaring at them. Her friend glared back, so she did too. Then Jen went over to Evan. They’d be great friends, she had no doubt. Evil. The perfect partners in crime. And not in a good way. Bad crime. “Are you joking? I hope you’re not joking.” Seriously.

It seemed Aylee was making her way towards them. Aoife hoped that she wasn't going to get told off for being too loud or something. But no. The older girl was hugging them. Hugging them. Tightly. She hugged back. But, well. “Aylee...sorry...can’t really breathe…” she puffed. She hated to ruin the party. “And you’re welcome!” She’d put a lot of effort into her presents.

Aylee opening her presents had really inspired her to go and do the same. “Hunter...I’m going to go and see if there’s any presents for me. Do you want to come?” she smiled. She doubted there would even be one present for her, since other people probably hadn’t gone overboard like her, but it was worth a look, just in case. Hunter or someone may have gotten her something. Aoife rushed over to the presents. Everyone said Christmas wasn’t about the presents and stuff, but deep down they must have known it sort of was. It would be depressing without them. She digged through the huge amount for a couple of minutes and was really surprised to find SEVEN presents for herself. SEVEN. True, one of them was from Jen so probably couldn’t be classed as a present. And one of them was from Ryland so probably also couldn’t be classed as a present. But that left FIVE presents. For her!

This would be SO EXCITING! She decided to start with Jen's Gift to get it over with. Surprise, surprise, it was a completely empty box, from the label. And it actually was when she opened it. That really was very Jennifer-ish of her, but Aoife was still really pleased with it. All the games she could play with an empty box. It really was a very pretty box too. She hoped it hadn’t cost the older girl too much. But she probably had loads of money anyway, so it wouldn’t matter. She made up her mind to go and thank her later, just to infuriate her with how much fun she could have with the gift.

Next she moved on to Ryland's, once again to get it over with. Maybe it would be another empty box. That would be good. Better than what was probably coming. But she actually gasped when she opened it. IT WAS A MUSTACHIO MUG. Well, not Mustachio since Ryland couldn’t possibly know about that. BUT A UNICORN MUG. BEST PRESENT EVER! There was also a coat and a bracelet, but she really didn’t care about them. Ryland was getting a HUGE hug next time she saw him. She felt a bit bad now, since on the label for his, she’d called him a git and said she didn’t like him. But he did get a really good present from her, so that probably made up for it. The presents were going really well so far, so she was quite excited to get Evan’s over with as well. Aoife was quite surprised he’d gotten her a present, but it would probably be of a similar nature to Jen’s. She opened it and found that quill! A beautiful quill. Not really a quill but a fountain pen. She loved Evan so much. Wait...no she didn’t...he’d blinded her. He must have gotten her the present before the snowball fight and decided not to waste it, just as she had with his present.

Aylee and Kynan's presents looked quite interesting, so she picked those up next. According to the label, Aylee’s was jumpers and Kynan’s was sweets. That was great. Aylee’s first. They were very pretty and much better than the girly clothes some people had bought her in the past, so she was very pleased. But even better? Kynan’s. He knew her so well. She dug into the beans, saving the chocolate frogs until later. Aylee was getting the biggest hug ever in a bit, and Kynan was getting a high five. Awesome presents! Aoife probably wasn’t appreciating her presents enough, the way she rushed along, but she was just too excited to wait. Later, she’d think about them and thank people and all that rubbish. Hunter's present was guaranteed to be a good one...and she was right! Sheep and sweets combined. He was the BEST! She put on the sheep necklace straight away, wanting to show off what an awesome friend she had.

Last but not least, Darcy. This was quite odd since she hardly knew Darcy and it was sort of clear she wasn’t the girl’s biggest fan since Hunter couldn’t take his eyes off her. But she had got the girl a present and it was still really nice of her. The label was the sweetest thing she’d ever heard. That she was strong, that Darcy had got her a dress she thought would be nice and that the shoes were sort of Doctor Who related. Seriously, Aoife really didn’t mind about Hunter staring at her anymore, since she was so nice, despite being friends with Evan. All she’d written on Darcy’s label was “Happy Christmas!” and now she felt bad. Darcy was amazing.

Everyone had been so nice and got her really great presents (excluding Jen, of course) and she felt filled with Christmas spirit and all that rubbish. Now all she needed to do was go around and thank everybody (excluding Jen, of course) for how kind they’d been.

Term 6 - Winter Ball - Great Hall - Everyone Empty
PostSubject: Re: Term 6 - Winter Ball - Great Hall - Everyone   Term 6 - Winter Ball - Great Hall - Everyone EmptyThu Dec 26, 2013 4:46 pm

Aylee stopped by and said hello, and said to let Kynan know she was stealing his presents. Hunter looked up at the girl with a smile - he actually really liked her - and nodded. "No problem!" Aoife seemed to actually want to shove a pumpkin pasty in Jen's hair. "Half-joking," he said to her. As in he was joking, but he wouldn't be opposed to actually doing it if they got the chance. After all, the girl deserved it.

Then Aylee was back, and she was giving them both hugs. Hunter hugged her back for a moment before wriggling out of the embrace - he was a boy after all. He had a reputation to protect - well, not really, but it would just be weird to hug her any longer. But he did grin at her and say, "I'm glad that you liked them." He really was glad - he hadn't known what to get the older girl, but he had to get her something for being so awesome and sneaking them out of the castle.

Aoife announced that she was going to go open her presents, and invited Hunter to join her. "Definitely!" he said, grinning like a... well, like a kid on Christmas! Because that's what he was. He didn't think he'd have many presents. He'd already gotten a bunch from home, but he didn't know anyone at Hogwarts well enough to get presents from them. Except Aoife maybe. Either way, he followed the girl to the huge Christmas tree and joined her in searching for presents. To his amazement, he had five!

He hadn't realized that he knew five people who would bother giving him presents. He grabbed the one nearest to him and opened it eagerly. It was from Aylee and Kynan! And it was actually two presents, sort of, because Kynan and Aylee had each gotten him something. Aylee had given him an awesome silver quill that was much cooler than the plain ones he'd been using. And Kynan had gotten him a map of the school. Hunter grinned as he read the note, which said that Kynan had heard Hunter got lost a lot. That's true. He was surprised that they had bothered to get him presents. It was nice of them!

He grabbed the next closest gift and saw that it had a tag on the outside. Oh, it was from Jen. He was almost surprised that she'd bothered to get him anything when he read the rest of the tag. Oh, an empty box. That was typical. He glanced over at Aoife to see that she had a similar one sitting next to her and couldn't help laughing. The Slytherin girl could been a little more original, surely. He pushed it aside. He'd think about a way to thank her later.

Next present! This one was from... Darcy? He'd only spoken to her once, and barely, so he was surprised by this one. He refrained from looking around to see if he could catch sight of her. Maybe she was doing the same thing as Aoife and getting everyone presents? He opened it and grinned. A pair of new shoes and a Gryffindor bow tie! They were actually really cool. He wished that he'd the bow tie earlier so he could have worn it to the party. Not everyone could pull off such a thing, but Hunter felt confident that he would look great in it!

Which one next? That one looked good! Oh, it was from Ryland! The boy who'd pulled him out of the stairs. It was a nice gift, too! A sweater, a pair of shoes, a Gryffindor scarf and another map! Hunter had already gotten a map from Kynan, but he was more than happy to have another one. Because he'd most likely lose at least one of them. And then it would be useless. But now he had two! He'd never get lost, ever again! Starting today, he would always know where he was going! Ryland wasn't there - he'd heard he was away - but Hunter decided he would be sure to get the older boy a present for when he got back. He should have thought of it before anyway!

One more present. It must be Aoife's, since he hadn't opened one from her yet. He opened it quickly and grinned at the contents. A teddy bear that said I love Aoife, a tub of some awesome Ben and Jerry's ice cream (which was still ice cold from some spell) and - he had to laugh at the last thing. It was a friendship bracelet - the one she'd promised him the first day they met. Better late than never, right? The colors weren't even that bad - well, except the pink and the purple, but there were also Gryffindor colors in there, so it balanced it out. She'd made it herself.

He was out of presents. He turned and waited for Aoife to finish opening hers (she had a few more than him) and saw that she was on his. He was glad to see that she put the necklace on immediately - he'd hoped she would like it. When she'd finished, he pulled her into a brief hug - but not too long because everyone seemed to think she was his girlfriend and he didn't want to make it look that way - and grinned.

"Thank you!" he said. "I loved my presents. Can you tie the bracelet on for me?" He held out the bracelet so that she could help him put it on. He wouldn't be able to do it himself. And he'd promised her that he'd wear it if she made it. "And thanks for not making it too many girl colors," he added teasingly. "You got an empty box from Jen, too?" he asked comically. He still thought it was kind of funny.

He glanced around the ball quickly to see who else he needed to thank. Kynan and Aylee, though Kynan wasn't there yet. Ryland wouldn't be there at all. Jen didn't deserve thanks. And Darcy. Maybe I'll just send her a thank you note. Hunter wasn't sure if it was smart to try to thank Darcy face to face. Besides, he didn't want to get hit again by Aoife for his odd behavior.

Term 6 - Winter Ball - Great Hall - Everyone Empty
PostSubject: Re: Term 6 - Winter Ball - Great Hall - Everyone   Term 6 - Winter Ball - Great Hall - Everyone EmptyThu Dec 26, 2013 4:52 pm

Evan went tho the Ravenclaw tower after finishing his work with decorations and soon came back, fashionable and stylish. Or at least he thought so. He managed to return to the great Hall before any of the guests showed up, so he had some time to look at his reflection is many icy mirrored surfaces.

His hair was gray-white because of 'Colorus Changus' spell that Evan cast before the party. He thought it would fit the Winter Ball theme well. Being a muggle military fan, Evan dressed up in a royal uniform, sky blue with silver. It made him feel ready to burn some bastards that could probably show up at this party. Or freeze them. Or just knock them out. Whatever.

Evan's uniform:

Aylee and Darcy were the first students who entered the Great Hall. They exchanged compliments and Aoife mentioned that this party was mostly arranged by Ella. Say for yourself, little one. If you did nothing useful, it doesn't matter I did so too. Despite Evan didn't contribute much to the decorations, he was offended by girl's words. If you want to start an informational war, I can tell everyone that you're dumb as a rock! Wait, that won't be so effective, I bet most people already noticed that. When Hunter appeared, Aoife ran towards him. Good. Keep your distance, midget. And keep your farm friend away from me too. Deep inside Evan still liked his little ex-friend, but now, when she gave him a reason to be angry, he couldn't resist hating her.

Then Jennifer joined the party. Sweet pretty Jennifer in a pretty dress. She walked to Evan and asked him if he helped with the decorations. "Hi Jen! Thanks. I helped a lot with all this party stuff, even if Aoife  runs around and tells people the opposite," he sighed. "Losers always spread lies about the better ones, you know." Evan glanced at Jen's pink dress from time to time during this conversation."I like your dress. Really. It's so pretty and sparkly."

He leaned very close to Jennifer and whispered, "When I was working with chairs, I did some funny things with legs of some. Don't sit on ones with small silvery hearts drawn on them." Evan smiled. "You can also try to make a particular person sit on one. Oh. And don't eat chocolate wafers. You probably won't notice the effect in the following day though. The effect is delayed so no one could suspect the party food." He smiled again. "You can offer these wafers to someone you don't like though."

"So, now you have all the necessary safety instructions," he said in a usual voice. Now Jen was safe, and Evan's only duty was to prevent Darcy from unfortunate eating and sitting. He wasn't going to tell her about the traps, because she wouldn't approve it. But he also didn't want her to get hurt, despite they had some uneasy moments at the DaDA party.

Nervous about the Ball, Elita sat in the dorm room, her long curly hair flowing down her back. She wasn't sure whether or not she should go since she barely spoke to anyone these days. However, she decided to waterfall her hair and add a little more curl to it. She pulled out a pretty light blue dress with matching shoes and earrings, as well as a little purse.

As she put the dress, shoes, earrings and her Dove necklace, she admired herself in the mirror. Leaning closer, she added some eyeliner and mascara and a dab of blush to give her pale cheeks a dash of colour. Smiling, she looked over herself once more before heading out the door.

The fourth year girl marched up the stairs and into the Great Hall. There weren't an increible amount of people there but she did see new faces. Smiling as she walked in, she admired the place. They did a fantastic job on the decorations.

Aislinn was unsure about going to the Winter Ball as she was new and knew no one. However, deciding that it would be a good time to make friends, she sat at her vanity in the Common Room and got ready. She brushed on some blush and combed her silky blonde hair. Her curly blonde hair fell over her shoulders as she clipped a white flower clip in it.

Getting up, she walked over to her wardrobe and pulled out some silver flats and a pretty yellow dress, appropriate for an eleven year old. Giving herself the once-over, she walked throught the kitchens into the Great Hall.

The Hall was a breath-taking site. Beautiful icicles hung everywhere and everything looked to be iced over, except it was surprisingly quite toasty. She looked around and saw students of all ages chatting in small groups. In the front of the room, was a huge tree with presents. Maybe one year, she'd get a present for once. She smiled at the thought.

Term 6 - Winter Ball - Great Hall - Everyone Empty
PostSubject: Re: Term 6 - Winter Ball - Great Hall - Everyone   Term 6 - Winter Ball - Great Hall - Everyone EmptyThu Dec 26, 2013 5:58 pm

"Well, she would," Jen smirked. Apparently those two weren't big friends anymore. "What happened? Was it the blinding thing?" Because it would be stupid not to be friends with someone anymore over that. It was only temporary blindness. But it was the sort of thing angry, mad little Aoife would get all het up about. Psychopath. "Thank you! You look nice too!" The hair was a bit weird, but he didn't exactly look bad.

And the chair thing was very clever. Rather than ask Evan their exact nature, she decided to get someone sitting down on one to see what they did. And the wafers too, for that matter. There was something odd about the word wafer. Like she had some sort of memory associated with it, but that wasn't the case. Although she wasn't the biggest fan of wafers. She was more curious about the chocolate wafers. "What might happen if I was to accidentally shove one in Aoife's mouth?" she smirked. Aoife and Hunter certainly wouldn't be easy targets to give out wafers to, but there was always force if they didn't take one themselves.

"I think I'm going to go and open my presents. Come with me if you want." When she'd put her presents there on the way in, she'd seen one with her name on and there may have been more. At least that meant she wouldn't be humiliated while going over there and coming straight back. Then again, the present she'd noticed was from Aoife, which meant it would probably be worse than her empty box.

When she got to the tree, she noticed three presents for herself, which was more than she'd expected. Wade had gotten her one. That was odd. Jennifer picked up Wade's first and carefully and delicately opened it. It was a ring. A pretty snake ring. It was odd. That seemed to be the word she was using most in her mind recently. Odd. But it was nice odd. She slipped it onto her finger with the red ring she was already wearing. The label made her smile. She didn't do karaoke. Playing music, but no karaoke. So that wasn't happening.

Evan's gift would probably be a nice one, since he was a good kid. Useful. Yes, it was. A Sneakoscope. She used to have one but it got broken, so this was a nice gift. She'd thank him later. After she'd opened her last present, whatever that was.

Last and definitely least, dear Aoife's present. It really didn't surprise her when she saw the picture of the girl. Flashing it quickly at Evan, she marched over to where Hunter and Aoife were standing and smirked at them. Then she took the picture of Aoife and ripped it in half. Then in half again. And again. Then she poured the pieces over the Gryffindor's head. Without any words, she left. Jen was keeping the frame, though. It would be good to put a picture of herself in.

"Yes, that was the blinding thing. Some people just don't like to lose, you know. And Aoife also likes to overreact," Evan replied with a bitterness in his voice. That snowball fight was definitely a black day in his personal history. However, he felt a little better when Jen complimented his appearance. "Thanks."

"Sickness, itch, possibly diarrhea. You don't have to do anything, Aoife likes sweets too much, so she has decent chance to eat some wafers by herself." Evan was too angry with all the "Gryffindor Team" right now, and wafers were the perfect weapon. Aoife liked sweets, Kynan liked all kinds of food. Evan didn't know Hunter well, but he expected him to do things that his little sheep friend did.

When Jennifer mentioned presents, Evan was glad to follow her. This way he could know  people who kept contact with Jen. "Tell me who your friends are, and I will tell you who you are," told some popular saying.

The two reached the Christmas tree and started opening their presents. Jennifer opened the first present, took a ring out of the box, and put it on her finger. Now Evan knew some more things about her: she had a rich friend that she liked, because the ring was obviously expensive and this present was opened first.

In the meantime Evan opened present from Jennifer. He hoped it would show that her present was the most important for him. This could just display Evan as a suck-up, but he didn't thought about it. There were a CD, a miniature action figure, and a watch in the box. The note explained that the figure and the watch were some muggle cartoon themed, but Evan hadn't watched it before. "Thanks," he said to Jen quietly.

Evan opened Darcy's present next. Quill, notebook, and another watch. Now Evan had two different watched to wear, and he could't wear them both at the same time. Evan's plan was simple: he was going to wear Jen's watch when he had good chances to meet Jen, and Darcy's watch when he had good chances to meet Darcy. Simple and foolproof. The words "Hugs, Darcy" made Evan feel a little better. He was sure, however, that she wasn't going to hug him for real anytime soon. If ever. With her social skills and Veela blood she was probably hanging out with some 'cool' guys now. Like Ryland. Except Ryland wasn't even remotely cool. Nevertheless, Evan took the note and put it in his pocket. Hugs, Darcy.

Evan's present was the second one opened by Jennifer. He didn't managed to get any information from Jen's mimics and gestures. But hey, who wouldn't like a Sneakoscope?

After opening Ella's present Evan discovered some pencils and a sketchbook. It was a good and useful gift from his chief editor. Evan was a bit sorry for not giving anything to Ella, but he could definitely compensate it with good articles and illustrations one day.

When Evan looked at the next present, he couldn't believe his eyes. It was from Walters siblings! At first Evan wanted to borrow Jennifer's (previously his) Sneakoscope to check this one. But then he decided just to open it. And this present was great: beautiful sketchbook, color pencils, and a cool Doctor Who themed t-shirt. They obviously knew him well and wanted to make him happy. Evan felt like he needed to apologize to them for his a bit hostile behavior.

And at the end Jen and Evan opened their presents from Aoife together. Evan's present was an excellent one. Aoife probably bought all these things before she got mad at him. Jennifer got Aoife's framed picture. Suddenly she stood up and walked towards the little Gryffindor. That could obviously lead to no good.

Maya huffed to herself as she brushed the slight curls from her face as she emerged from the dungeons.  She was greeted with the sound of loud Christmas music emanating from the Great Hall and instead of a smile forming on her face her eyebrows creased into a frown. Great, here we go. Maya usually enjoyed Christmas, but it had been a hard year on her and she didn't feel especially like celebrating.  She had promised her mother that she would go and try and become more sociable once more.  It definitely felt like she had been slipping off the radar recently.  Sure where was a better place to get started than the Christmas Ball she repeated continuously in her head, trying to convince herself that she was going to have a great time.  She could already get a sense of the Christmas spirit from the Entrance Hall as the Grand staircase was covered in tinsel the whole way up and the stone statues all bore Christmas hats, but the decorations did little to lift her own kindred spirit.

Maya forced her feet to move forward and she slowly shuffled closer to the Great Hall.. where everyone would be, chirpy and merrily celebrating Christmas.  Maya's thoughts continued down this route as she nearly doubled back and made a beeline for the dungeons.  Ugh, why must she be so moody? It had been like this since she had turned 13 a few weeks back when she had started third year Maya sighed once more to herself and firmly plastered a smile onto her face, but she remained outside the door, deliberating about what to do.

No. That was Kynan's first thought as soon as he saw the invitation to the Christmas Ball. He put the invitation under his pillow and didn't think about it. He didn't feel like going. Not at all. But then Aylee turned up during breakfast and bribed him into going with the idea of food and presents. And that, if she was right, most presents would be food. Could Kynan say no at that? No. So that evening, he didn't spend much time in deciding what to wear. All he did was wear his school uniform, minus the robes, and try to arrive early without any diversions. That didn't happen, because Peeves had set a bunch of rats loose in one of the corridors so Kynan had to go the long way round. Damn you, Peeves, I'm hungry.

Finally, Kynan managed to get to the Entrance Hall and was about to go inside to the Winter Ball until he noticed a familiar figure waiting near the doors. "Maya?" he asked, frowning. Slowly, he stepped closer and realized that it was Maya. "Maya!" Okay, now he was freaking out. He ran towards Maya and, without thinking about it, he hugged her. "Oh my god, where have you been? I haven't seen you in ages!"

"I love my present Hunter! You are a beautiful person!" Aoife beamed, leaning forward to hug Hunter. "You don't have to wear the bracelet, though. But if you insist..." She took the bracelet and tied it loosely around her friend's wrist. He was so nice. Most people in this situation wouldn't wear the bracelet.

Oh, Hunter had got the empty box too. It was nice to know she wasn't the only one. "Yeah, it's absolutely brilliant! I have to thank her later!" she said happily. "Think of all the games I can play with this! I can be an astronaut, it can be a bed for my kitten, I can cut it up to make puzzles, the possibilities are endless! And it's very pretty too! Can't have been cheap!" ResourcefulAoife.

Her opportunity came to thank the girl too! Because Jen was coming over! But unfortunately, she wasn't able to say thank you because she was too busy watching in confusion as Jennifer ripped up the picture (which would be very valuable in the future) and sprinkled the pieces over her head. "Ungrateful moron," Aoife murmured, more to herself than anyone else. "Enjoy the frame! And thanks for the box! I'll have so much fun with that!" Even though she'd shouted, she hoped the older girl could hear.

"I thought you'd like the necklace," Hunter said to Aoife, grinning. It looked nice on her, too, but he supposed he was a bit biased since he bought it. She said he didn't really have to wear the bracelet. "I told you I'd wear it if you made it," he said, shrugging good-naturedly. "And like I said, the colors aren't bad." Plus, now he had a bracelet that Aoife took the time to make for him, and Evan didn't. That was a good reason to wear it, right?

Apparently Aoife liked her empty box. Hunter listened in amusement to her rambling off all the things she could do with it. "Always the optimist, aren't you?" he laughed, trying to picture Aoife running around with the box on her head pretending to be an astronaut. Hunter looked up to see Jen making her way in their direction with a - a picture of Aoife in her hand? It only took Hunter a minute to put two and two together, and he laughed as he figured it out. Aoife had given Jen a picture of herself as a Christmas present.

Suddenly, Hunter realized that Jen seeking them out probably wouldn't lead to anything good. Before he could say anything, the older girl reached them, ripped up the picture and dumped the pieces on Aoife. Then she just walked away. "What a - " Hunter cut off his sentence because his mother had told him never to say that word. But he was thinking it. Aoife called a thank you after the Slytherin, and Hunter knew it was just to irk the girl. "Okay, we're definitely shoving a pumpkin pasty in her hair."

Morgana gave a sigh. There seemed to be a ball or a party on every corner on this school. She supposed she could simply refrain from going, but she would need food. She could always just go to the kitchens, though. That would save her from having to take on a dress and stuff. However, as always, she knew she'd wind up going. She wasn't a very social person, but she did miss having loads of people around sometimes.

So, despite what she wanted, she got into her outfit. She might not want to go, but she knew that she needed to be around people. She had locked herself up a lot lately. And she guessed that Elita might be rather impatient with the fact that whenever she went into the girls' dormitory, Morgana was there, doing homework, or reading.

Morgana rolled her eyes at herself; she really needed to do more stuff. Her life was getting boring. Maybe she should take herself a trip into the forest soon? The incident with the previous Divination professor and her loss of 20 points had been gruesome, but over the years, Morgana had cared less and less for house points. They meant nothing, really. So long as her grades were high, what did house points really matter?

She shook her head and walked up from the dungeons, and into the entrance hall. There, she met two people, one of which was Kynan, another someone Morgana had not seen in ages. Maya. Morgana felt something tug her lips and, though it felt extremely weird, she started to smile. Not a big smile, not something of a normal smile either, but it was a smile, and to everyone who knew Morgana, they would see how much it changed her otherwise very serious face into one of a normal fourteen year old who was friendly to everyone.

"Maya," she said, and was sort of relieved, though a bit disappointed, that her voice was the same as always. Not happy or giddy or anything of the like. It was the same voice as she usually had. Sort of monotone, sort of careless. "How are you?" she asked and gave a nod to Kynan, glad to see him as well. Or … more glad than indifferent, at least. And that really was an improvement.

Maya had made her mind up and was in the process of turning on her heel and returning as quickly as possible to the dungeons when someone called out her name.  She looked up quickly, wondering if she had ruined her chance of escape.  "Kynan!" Maya exclaimed, the fake smile plastered on her face was replaced with a beaming smile as Maya was greeted by her close friend.  She burst out laughing at the disgruntled look on Kynan's face.  She didn't appear to be the only one who didn't want to attend the ball.  Maya guessed that Kynan's older sister had encouraged him to come, which Maya was now feeling grateful for.

Maya looked up at Kynan's large figure running towards her (he had grown a lot since she had last seen him), but before she had time to even ask what he was doing he had wrapped his arms around her.  Maya immediately stiffened with the shock, but melted into his arms as she felt comforted by Kynan's embrace.  Maya sighed contentedly and held onto Kynan tightly. How was it that he never failed to brighten her day? He had this uncanny knack of appearing and cheering her up when she needed it most.

Maya pulled away from Kynan immediatley when she heard someone interrupting their overlong embrace.  She blushed slightly, but was relieved to see Morgana standing before her.  By the look on her face she didn't give the pair of them a second thought and Maya didn't think Morgana was one for gossip.  Maya also figured that Morgana wasn't keen on a Christmas Ball as she too seemed to shy away from large companies recently.  Not that Maya was judging, she was nowhere to be seen lately.  Maya's spirits were lifted so much she almost went over and hugged Morgana, but the thought of how Morgana might react stopped Maya in her tracks.  Instead Maya smiled warmly in the Slytherin's direction.  "Hey Morgana, how have you been? Having a good Christmas?" Maya added, hoping she wasn't touching a nerve as she knew that Morgana's mother had passed and her father was busy at the ministry, which resulted in Morgana not being able to return home for the holidays often.

She was glad to have company before she even entered the hall to the ball and better yet, she didn't have to face it alone.

Rhys has been sitting in on a Care of Magical Creatures class earlier that morning when Professor Vega told him there was a party tonight. Having just graduated Hogwarts not long ago, he smiled as she told him he was welcome to come.

As day turned to night, he found the boys lavatory and decided to freshen up a little. There wasn't much he could do with his hair, it was always hard to keep perfect. However, he waved his wand over himself and changed into some nice dress clothes.

As he walked the familiar halls, he found the old Great Hall, the place he had all his meals, the place he too his OWL's, NEWT's and graduated from, the place that held his dearest memories. He smiled to the group gathered outside the door, then slowly entered. He was shocked at the look of it. It looked like a picture from his History of Magic book...the Yule Ball. "Excuse me," he asked to a nearby student, "who is responsible for these decorations?"

Morgana was actually happy to see Maya, but she was worried for a second when it looked as though Maya was about to hug her or something. Morgana was beyond relieved when the girl seemed to choose not to. Morgana really wasn't the type who hugged others, or who was hugged. She liked it that way. She also noticed how Maya asked the question of how her Christmas was, almost as if she tiptoed.

Morgana gave a slight shrug, her smile faltering a bit, not because Christmas was a touchy subject, but because it was only so long Morgana could keep a smile without it seeming fake. And she knew that most people preferred no smile over fake smiles. She was pretty certain that Maya did, in the least. "I'm good. Christmas was never much to me, really. But you know me, I can't really wrap my head around the whole giving and receiving things-business," she said, her voice letting in a hint of a joke. "But I'm good," she said calmly, "And you?" Then she looked at Kynan and added: "Both of you, of course."
