| Juliette entered classroom 7D a little flustered, because she was a little late. Sighing, she looked around and saw that most of the class was there, including some of the new students.
"Welcome to your second lesson of Transfiguration," she began. "Since we have some new students, I would like a volunteer to demonstrate what we covered in our first lesson. Lucy, how about you? Lucy," she told the class, "correctly managed to Transfigure a match into a needle last lesson. I want to make sure that everyone is caught up, because we will be covering a far more difficult topic today." Juliette beckoned to Lucy to come forward, hoping that she wouldn't mind, and that Juliette didn't look like she was favorizing anyone. Seeing the eager and curious faces looking back at her, she relaxed and waited for Lucy to perform the spell. |

| Shah was sitting at the back of the classroom. She was new, yes. But she was always a back-bencher. This was her first lesson.
What if I don't perform well? What if I embarrass myself? What if.... Oh shut up Shah! You're going to do just fine.
She was internally arguing with herself. It was her first day at a class, she didn't really need to prove anything to anybody. If she was good at it, well and good. If she wasn't....then she would just have to hone her skills more. She was looking forward to what the girl named Lucy was going to do. She was also expecting to make more friends today. A match into a needle. That sounded easy. But the teacher said they were going to do something even more difficult. Shah would just have to wait and see what that was.

| Keith walked into the Transfiguration classroom, noticing the Professor hadn't arrived yet. He looked around the room to see that most of the students were there, and a new student, as well. He noticed she was wearing a red badge. Another Gryffindor. He smiled and sat down in the seat beside her. "I don't believe we've met, yet." He began, turning to her. "I'm Keith Parker." He introduced himself, holding at his hand. The Professor soon arrived, walking into the classroom and seeming a little flustered.
"Welcome to your second lesson of Transfiguration," she began. "Since we have some new students, I would like a volunteer to demonstrate what we covered in our first lesson. Lucy, how about you? | Isabella stepped into the classroom and sat down. She set down her book bag and awaited Professor Cyngeplume's arrival. When the professor walked in, she greeted them and said,
"Welcome to your second lesson of Transfiguration," she began. "Since we have some new students, I would like a volunteer to demonstrate what we covered in our first lesson. Lucy, how about you? Lucy correctly managed to Transfigure a match into a needle last lesson. I want to make sure that everyone is caught up, because we will be covering a far more difficult topic today." |

| Ella walked into the classroom and sat down. Looking up she noticed Lucy, Wade, Kaiden, Shah and a few others but she also noticed that the professor was not here yet. While waiting for the professor she decided to doddle on the back of her notebook and just allow herself to space off.
The Professor ran in as she knew she was late. She turned to the class and began speaking."Welcome to your second lesson of Transfiguration," she began. "Since we have some new students, I would like a volunteer to demonstrate what we covered in our first lesson. Lucy, how about you? Lucy," she continued, "correctly managed to Transfigure a match into a needle last lesson. | James was sitting in the back of classroom 7D, silently leafing through his textbook while waiting for the class to begin. After a couple of minutes, he began feeling a bit worried, as the teacher still hadn't arrived. Suddenly, the door swung and Professor Cygneplume hastily entered.
"Welcome to your second lesson of Transfiguration" she started, before choosing a student to perform the previous spell they had learned in Transfiguration. Then, she warned them that the charm they would be practicing next was far more difficult than turning a match into a needle. Having only met a partial success with his first transformation, James was awaiting to find out more about their task with apprehension. He then turned his attention to Lucy Malfoy, who was supposed to demonstrate the first spell as she was the only one who had managed to perform it perfectly.

| Aurora idly played with her quill pen. Professor Cygneplume was late, and almost everyone was at class. Then, looking harried, the professor entered and began the lesson immediately. She annonced that they would be performing a difficult spell today, then asked Lucy to demonstrate the match to needle Transfiguration. Aurora was disappointed, for she had finally managed to perform the spell herself, though of course Professor Cygneplume wouldn't know that. Maybe she's just worried I'll do what I did last time, Aurora mused, mulling over her disastrous fiery attempt to transform the match last lesson. |

| Shah grinned at the Gryffindor boy who sat beside her. She shook his hand and said, "Hi! I'm Shah Chelsea Hazel....or Zellie for short. You are?" She asked. Shah looked at everyone who entered. There were two Ravenclaws and two Slytherins one of which was Ella, her first friend.

| The Gryffindor girl smiled at him. "Hi! I'm Shah Chelsea Hazel....or Ellie for short. You are?" She replied happily. Keith smiled. "Keith Parker. It looks like we're in the same House. It's nice to see another face around here, especially another Gryffindor." He told her. |

| "Yeah, I was kind of worried. There were no other Gryffindor's around, thought maybe I was alone. But here you are! I' glad." Shah grinned as she shut herself up. She will keep talking if she finds someone. | |

| Wade entered the classroom and noticed that everyone was already there, except for him and Lucy, of course. He walked to his seat and opened his journal, ready to start his second lesson of Transfiguration.
"Welcome to your second lesson of Transfiguration," Professor Cygneplume began. "Since we have some new students, I would like a volunteer to demonstrate what we covered in our first lesson. Lucy, how about you? Lucy correctly managed to Transfigure a match into a needle last lesson. He smiled at her as she stood up, encouraging her.

| Lucy came into the Transfiguration classroom feeling very good about herself, as this was the class that she was very good at. "Welcome to your second lesson of Transfiguration," Professor Cygneplume began. "Since we have some new students, I would like a volunteer to demonstrate what we covered in our first lesson. Lucy, how about you? Lucy, correctly managed to Transfigure a match into a needle last lesson. I want to make sure that everyone is caught up, because we will be covering a far more difficult topic today." Professor Cygneplume motioned for her to walk forward, and she did, happily.
Concentrating on the match in front of her, she began imagining the match turning into a needle. The silver color, the sharp tip, the slim figure... Slowly, the match finally took its form and transformed into a perfect needle. Lucy looked up at Professor Cygneplume and smiled, secretly hoping that was all she would have to do in front of the classroom.

"Well, it's a good thing you came in early, otherwise you would have had a lot to catch up on. I think you'll like this class, most students do, in fact." He said. |

| "Yeah, I'm sure I'll like it!" Shah smiled at Keith. She saw the girl named Lucy transform the match into the needle and she was amazed. It didn't look that tough. But she knew better than to believe that. She smiled at Lucy.
"What do you think we're gonna do today Keith?" Shah asked Keith as she turned back to him.

| As Lucy walked to the center of the classroom, Juliette saw the other students whispering to each other. She hoped they weren't displeased with her teaching. Lucy Transfigured the match very well, then smiled tentatively. Juliette smiled back, then said, "Thank you, Lucy. You may sit down." Lucy seemed relieved to be out of the limelight, and hurried back to her seat.
"Now," Juliette began, "today's lesson will not be so difficult as you may have thought. The Transfiguration will be harder, yes, but the element, the actual core of the spell is the same. Let your energy flow through your wand until the first object becomes the second. We will begin with a feather." Juliette waved her wand and feathers flew from her desktop to each of the students'. "We will be turning it into a flowering branch. An interesting quirk of this spell is that it tends to turn into the wood the caster is most attracted to; in other words your wand wood. Do not be disappointed if it takes the whole hour to succeed. Begin." |

Keith looked from the Professor to Shah. "Would you like to try first?" He asked. |

| "Okay!" Shah said happily, "I'll try" She pulled out her wand from her cloak and pointed it at the feather which was placed in front of her. This was going to be the first time that she used her wand, she had her hopes high.
Now, Zellie. Calm down and don't embarrass yourself in front of Keith. She told herself.
She took a deep breath and concentrated on transfiguring the feather into a flowering branch. She could feel the energy flow through her veins. She saw the feather turning into a flowering branch, she smiled, but didn't get over-confident. The feather was turning slowly and then it stopped. She was more than happy to see that the feather was turned into a branch but it was not flowering. She sighed. At least it had turned into a branch.
"Your turn Keith!" She said happily as she turned towards him.

| "Okay! I'll try!" Shah said, pulling out her wand to perform the spell. Keith smiled. "Good luck." He told her. He watched her point it at the feather and speak the incantation. The feather slowly turned into a branch, although it didn't complete turn over. He smiled. "Don't worry, it's your first try. It's rare to get a Transfiguration spell down on the first try." He assured her. "Your turn Keith!" Shah smiled. Keith grinned. "I doubt I'll get as far as you did. I'm not good at Transfiguration as much as any of our other classes." He said.
He took a deep breath and took out his wand, pointing it towards the feather. He focused every inch of his mind on turning the feather into a branch. He watched the feather begin to transform itself, but stop only a few seconds after it started. Keith sighed. "Well, it was worth a try. Great job, by the way." He said, smiling at Shah. |

| "It's okay, Keith. Have another go." Shah urged him. "Sure." He said, slightly grinning. He pointed his wand at the feather that was nearly transformed to a branch. As long as I don't lose focus, I won't mess this up. He thought. He concentrated on the feather-like-branch again. As his focus grew, the feather transformed itself into a branch, finally turning all the way. He smiled. "It took two tries, but it's fine." He said, before looking at Shah. "Do you want another go?" He asked. |

| "Niiiice!" Shah commented. He'd done it. "Yes, I'll try again. You know, I'm one of those people who believe in 'Try try till you succeed.' So, I'm gonna see if that works." She shut herself up, and turned to the feather. She closed her eyes and put all her power in it. She forced herself to think of nothing other than the feather and how it will become a flowering branch. She knew the magic was working. When she opened her eyes, the feather was no more to be seen. Instead there was a flowering branch in it's place. It had bright blue flowers on. She grinned. | |
