Longing for an Adventure (Open) Empty
PostSubject: Longing for an Adventure (Open)   Longing for an Adventure (Open) EmptyThu Sep 19, 2013 7:43 pm

Maya climbed the last few steps up to the clock tower puffing her cheeks. She wasn't too fond if the amount of steps it required to get to the clock tower, but  her resolve brought her to the top. She thought it was worth it though as she made her way over to the closest window and took in the breathtaking view of the grounds. She spotted the crystal clear lake and students lounging around it, their voices too muffled to make out their conversations. She averted her gaze past the whomping willow and rested her eyes on the quidditch pitch which was currently in use. She made out tiny specks zooming back and forth between the golden goalposts at top speeds. A smile spread across her face as she caught her breath. Maya loved adventuring and sometimes liked to have a peaceful and private moment to herself so she was glad that she had found somewhere to settle down and watch from afar with her own thoughts to accompany her.

She had been so consumed by the scenery she hadn't noticed what brought her here. As she stared out at the scenery that caught her gaze she realised that she would love to explore the grounds further. This was one of Maya's favourite places as she had a view of the entire grounds.  She loved new places and experiences, but some places where out of bonds. Unfortunately, this included the vast forest which stretched on past her eye line. Maya sighed to herself she had heard of some students who had been too close to the entrance and they got deducted house points. Maya began listing off the other places she could see and where she had been. It all came back to the forbidden forest which held her attention. She placed her hands on the large windowsill and rested her chin across her arms, as the sun began to set, causing yellow rays to stream in the window and reflect on the stone wall.

Longing for an Adventure (Open) Empty
PostSubject: Re: Longing for an Adventure (Open)   Longing for an Adventure (Open) EmptySun Sep 22, 2013 5:47 am

Deirdre took the last ten or so steps by jumping over them, and finally stopped to take a breath on the wooden landing. There were far too many stairs up the clock tower, but she was happy she made it to the top, so she could, with no further ado, enjoy the sunset as a nice way to relax after finishing a tiring day. Deirdre was on her own, no Marble with her, and she wanted to peacefully watch over the grounds and lake she liked coming to, from above, when the red and orange rays of the sun hit their surfaces. They were probably beautiful, at that time.

Deirdre could also just think when gazing at the grounds below, for many different things that had happened to her. Hogwarts was pretty new to the Hufflepuff, despite being a second year, and there were still a lot of places she hadn't explored and a lot of people she hadn't met. Every day, there was something new occurring. She could run those events over and over in her head, as she watched the day end and the sun go away.

She shook her head, hair falling gracefully on her shoulders and covering them, and looked around to find the closest window. As she did so, she found there was already another person there, a Slytherin, if she was not mistaken. When she made a few steps forward, Deirdre could see that it was Maya, a girl she'd met and, fortunately, made friends with. She walked towards her, as she had also noticed the Hufflepuff, and greeted, '' Hey, Maya."
Feel free to join in, and Maya, thanks for waiting.

Maya swiveled around when she heard someone else approaching her solitary spot. She didn't know if she was in the mood to be interrupted, but company always beat being alone, especially when she was borderline brooding.

Maya's face broke in to an easygoing smile when she spotted the student's face coming into view as they took the last remaining steps and stood over the threshold. "Hey, Deirdre." Maya greeted in turn, unsure of how to proceed the conversation. She had spent one sleepless night with Deirdre and was glad of the company, now with the hectic school schedule she had only glimpsed her a couple of times in passing up the corridors and bumped into her in some classes that they shared. Although, she had grown close to Deirdre in the one night they had spent by the lake together, it was unfortunate that they hadn't had time to spend more time together.

Deirdre stepped in the light of the window, careful not to block Maya's view, as she was clearly enjoying it before her showing up. The Hufflepuff looked out and to the Grounds, thinking of a way to start a conversation with the red-headed girl. The two of them had met on a starry night at the lake they were currently gazing at, and had had a great time there. Deirdre had really liked that, but they hadn't actually spoke for a longer duration as before since, only meeting in most classes and sometimes saying 'hi's while passing trough the corridors.

Maya was visibly having the same or, more or less, similar problems, so both went silent for a while. The sun was going down and hiding behind the trees, bathing them in its reddish glow and leaving the sky darker. It was quite the sight as it progressed, and Deirdre thought about it astonished. She smiled, and, after what had probably seemed like eternity to the other girl, and idea of a conversation formed in her head. Not original, maybe, but a nice topic. She turned to Maya," Beautiful, isn't it?"

Maya seen Deidre enjoying the view from the corner of her eye. She remained silent though as she let the skyline sink in. Maya didn't mind the silence, she wasn't an awkward girl and never felt imposed on easily. Maya paused for a moment, lost in thought when Deirdre began talking to her. She watched the last few rays of sunshine disappear behind the trees and the grounds were delved into darkness, soundless before the nocturnal creatures awoke. Twilight, this was Maya's favourite time of day. The sleepy silence hung in the air as daytime creatures scurried off to sleep, before the night animals awoke and disturbed the night.

"It is." Maya strongly agreed. "Come here often?" Maya mused, knowing that this place wasn't very popular due to the many steps on the winding, stone staircase.

Deirdre looked out again, waiting for Maya's answer. The sun went completely down, giving the forest and the grounds it's last rays of light and leaving them in the phase of a beautiful twilight for a time, before the sky became dark and the night took over.

"It is." the other girl spoke passionately, replying the question. She appeares to love it here, Deirdre thought with a smile. Maya asked a question and Deirdre answered quickly, not really having to think a lot about it," No. It's my first time, but it definitely won't be the last one." She motioned happily to the window, then opening her mouth to speak again, " How 'bout you? Is this your favourite spot in Hogwarts, besides the lake?" She let out a chuckle.

Maya looked over at Deirdre when she agreed with her, the passion clear in her voice. She smiled at her, glad that she could appreciate the view. "What brought you here then?" Maya couldn't help but ask her, she had accidentally stumbled upon the safe haven in a weird array of events in her first year at Hogwarts and she had returned religiously ever since. Most students didn't bother with the clock tower as it was too far away from most things they thought important, also the steps were likely to put anyone off. "Nah, been here before." Plenty of time before, but Maya didn't feel the need to bring her loneliness into the conversation. Not one of the best topics to bring up when someone had just joined you. Maya shrugged, a smile creeping onto her face. "The lake is pretty cool. See any merpeople lately?" A smile played at the edge of her lips, at the thought of their previous conversation down by the lake.

Deirdre shrugged at Maya's question," I don't know, actually. It seemed like a good place to relax from below." She supposed the clock tower hadn't many visitors because of, well, the lack of a short cut to its top, but the view and everything to the tower itself was worth the prize payed. Deirdre liked to explore around the castle when she had the time, to her it felt like solving a mystery every time she conquered a new place. This, at the moment, was too an end of yet another similar day of sorts.

Maya and Deirdre continued telling each other things they'd thought important, and the Slytherin asked the other girl a question jokingly," Seen any merpeople lately?" She was definitely referring to their last actual talk by the lake. " Hey," Deirdre laughed," I'll have you know I'm working on it." Both chuckled, though the black-haired one was pretty serious when saying that.
