Meeting another professor [Closed to Saherra]

Lucia walked from the greenhouses after a long day. She was rather happy with her day, though, and the students she had taught that day seemed to have enjoyed the lessons. Not all of them, though. After all, she couldn't hope that all her students would love her class.

She walked into the staff room upon reaching it, and sat down in one of the chairs. The room was empty and quiet, and she smiled, leaning back in the chair, looking up into the roof. She was so happy that she had managed to get the job of Herbology here at Hogwarts. During her time as a student, Hogwarts had grown to become her home, and she had missed it much more than she imagined she would.

She was torn from her thoughts when the door to the staff room opened and a woman walked in.

Saherra Prue opened the door to the staff room, hoping it would be empty, as it usually was during that time of the day. As she walked in and looked around to check that, she spotted another woman, comfortably seated in one of the chairs. She looked at Prue for a moment, and the newly come in was able to tell the woman had quite the feminine beauty.
   She was quite young, younger than her maybe, and the look on her face said she was, too, genuinely surprised of seeing another professor in the room at this hour.
   Saherra fixed her blue dress and sat on the chair, which opposited the other teacher.
Prue streched her hand out as she did so. " Hello, my name is Saherra Prue."

Lucia smiled softly at the professor. Her dress was extremely pretty. Not like in ball fashion, of course, but just a epic blue dress. Lucia really loved that color. And green. A herbologist had to love green, though...

Lucia leaned a bit forward and took the woman's hand and her smile widened slightly. "It's nice to meet you. I'm Lucia Henley, the new professor of Herbology," she said with a smile and leaned back into her chair.

"So, Saherra - may I call you Saherra? - What subject do you teach?" Lucia asked, hoping that calling the woman by her first name was all right. Honestly, the formality these days... She could just eat it...

Saherra smiled kindly at the the Herbology professor. " I teach Muggle Studies. And, yes, yes you may." Her fingers played some with covers of the book she had brought with her. " It is really sad though, that I don't have many students."
It was, truly, sad, but Prue was finally getting to meat someone, and- who knows- maybe make a new friend? Mopping around, as people called it, wouldn't help, would it?
" So, um...Lucia," she assumed she could call her that." would you tell me about yourself?"

Lucia blinked. "Really? I never took Muggle Studies myself, and now I regret it. I mean, I knew a lot myself given the fact that my mother is a muggle, but still," she said with a shrug. And then she frowned. "There's few? Well, if it gives you some consolation, there aren't all that many that takes Herbology either," she said softly.

She smiled. "Tell you about myself? Hmm... It's all a sad story really. Well, I'm half-blood, born and raised in Wales, but I live in Scotland now, when I'm not here of course. I never knew my father, but I know he was a wizard, in Slytherin. My mother is very ill, and she became incapacitated when I was thirteen, so I've pretty much had to take care of myself ever since," she said softly.

"But I think I've turned out all right," she joked happily. She was happy. Of course, there were the days when she didn't feel all that great and wished that her mother was all right again, but she, on her own, was happy.

"How about you? Will you tell me more about yourself?" she asked, curious as to what kinds of backgrounds the professors could have.

Saherra smiled."Really? How many take your class? I've only got two students." The other woman replied.
As Saherra listened to Lucia's story, it occurred to her how similar their lives appeared to be. She felt sad for the Herbology Professor-her survival wasn't easy.
" Oh, you see, my story is pretty sad, as well. I'm a half-blood too! My mother was a muggle and is kind of...dead right now, and it's all because of my father, really." She paused for a moment."He is a wizard and used to be in Gryffindor. My grandparents raised me. They are muggles and tried sending me to study in a muggles' public school but in India such a thing is expensive, so I was home schooled until Hogwarts. Now I live in London, when I don't teach here." Saherra blurted out the last sentences a little bit too fast for her usual rhythm.
Prue then drifted off in her thoughts, seeing as how Lucia also started thinking.
She wondered what kind of a life she would've had if her mother was alive....

Lucia gave a smile. "I have a bit more than that. I'm not quite sure how many, though. I just know them by their faces when I actually am in class," she said with a shrug. She didn't have all too many students, but she was rather content with having the ones she did. After all, though most of the students remained silent during class, she was happy that she had two or three students that spoke up and tried to give an answer.

She frowned. "Your father's ... fault? Do you mean...? Did he... er ... kill her?" Lucia asked, somewhat incredulous. At least her father wasn't all that bad. That she knew of, of course. She really hoped he wasn't all that bad...

"Do you like it here? As a professor I mean, even though you don't have many students?" she asked.

"Oh, that's good. Herbology was one of my favourite classes when I was in Hogwarts." Of course, being a Ravenclaw back then, Prue loved pretty much all subjects. But Herbology was truly genius as it was." It is very sad, though, that my class is so empty, you see. There must be some wizards to take interest in the world around them, aren't I right?" She waited for Lucia's answer.
"Your father's ... fault? Do you mean...? Did he... er ... kill her?" Professor Henley asked, sounding at all confused. " Oh, no! You see, my mother was a very fragile creature. What she wanted to see in people was honesty." Lucia looked as if she didn't get where Saherra was going." And my father forgot to mention to her he was a wizard in all their years of marriage. And so..." Saherra's accent became stronger with her emotion overflowing in her.
Lucia tactically coughed and asked another question. "Any-who,..."
Prue answered," Yes, I guess. It's always been my dream. And one of my students is actually very interested in the subject." She smiled and chuckled.

Lucia grinned. "Mine as well. Of course. I don't think I could teach a subject I hated," she added as an afterthought, an innocent smile on her face. Then she sighed, her face turning more serious. "I don't get it either. I mean, I get that muggle-borns don't take the subject, since they were raised in the environment, but I agree with you. Does people really not care? I mean, honestly, after Voldemort, people really should start caring. There will always be a new Voldemort. Not necessarily as powerful or as thirsty for power. But if people do not understand one another, what do we really have in the end?" she asked, looking down at her hands.

Lucia sighed and gave a nod. "I see," she said softly, letting the subject hang a bit in the air before clearing her throat. She then gave a smile at the professor. "Well, I'm glad to hear that. I only realized about two years ago that I wanted to become a professor. I had never imagined it for myself, but then, one day, I woke up and thought that teaching others the way of herbology isn't the worst thing a person could do with her life. And so, I started educating myself more on the subject, and the more I did, the more interesting it got. And I winded up here, just as I wanted to," she said with a smile, "I couldn't be more happy about that."

Saherra smiled as well," You're probably right with that thought." Lucia sighed, and, getting more serious by the minute, she talked out her idea of Saherra's previous sayings. After she finished doing that, the darker-haired woman replied sheepishly," I appreciate your concern, but so it is, you see, that my students are...a muggle-born and a half blood." Both professors chuckled. "But you truly are correct, people should understand each other. And with the muggles having no possibility of that, why won't the wizards try?"

"Really? I fell dumb now.." Saherra smiled, listening to Lucia." I guess... bearing the fact that in India education is not payed easily, I just wanted to be sure I'd get and give one, so people could know about the world. And then, along came Hogwarts. When I saw this magnificent castle, and everything in it, I decided I didn't just want to be a teacher, I wanted to be a teacher in Hogwarts."
