A New Year At Hogwarts [ALL First Years Invited]

Considering Ryland's lack of social skills, planning a party for the First Years seemed too far away from his plans for this new term, but seeing as most pf them had only a few friends, he thought introducing them to older students might make them feel more at home.
Following Wade's advice, Ryland placed a nicely sized banner that read WELCOME! next to a table with some goodies and various other muggle snacks, as he understood most of them were either muggle-borns or half-bloods.
He waited patiently by the table, waiting for the new students to arrive so they could get started with putting the fun part in a party; he knew now that he wasn't going to talk much, he was just a co-host, or whatever it was that Wade and Lucy called it.

Lucy walked into the Middle Courtyard wearing frosty blue shorts and a white tee. It seemed to her as if this was only a small get together or a small party, unlike the Christmas and end of term parties. Besides, she didn't want the younger students to think this was the biggest of the events, as that would come later in when Ryland, Wade and her threw the new Halloween party the had been planning.

"Ryland!" Lucy exclaimed as she saw him. "I see you followed my advice. Less is always better." She smiled as she wrapped her arms around her soon-to-be-brother.

Maya arrived in the middle courtyard eagerly anticipating the party ever since she had received an invitation by owl. She hadn't made much friends since she had started Hogwarts, only a few acquaintances. She glumly wondered how the event would play out considering she was a Slytherin and other people from different houses seemed to prefer to avoid her company due to that fact.

She was impressed with the effort put into the party as she was greeted by a large, colourful banner. She spotted snacks sitting on a table and made her way over for something to do as there wasn't much people here yet.

As she poured herself a drink she glanced up and noticed two older students already there. She decided that she may as well introduce herself as it was a socializing party. She approached the students feeling slightly intimidated. "Hey I'm Maya," she said with a friendly smile.

Grace heads to the Middle Courtyard to see who would also be there. When she arrived, she was pleasantly taken by surprise how much effort they put into it. There were people there. Two seems older and one she already knew from Magic of History classes. There were no Ravenclaws yet, but it wasn't shocking to her. Most Ravenclaws prefer to just read, not socialise. Grace was wanting to over come her lack of socialisation though, and this felt like a good place to start.

"Hello. I'm Grace. May I just say how extraordinary this place looks and how great of a job you did with the decorations." Grace felt like she may have gotten a bit carried away, but it was better than being shy and not speaking at all.

"First year, I suppose?" She asked as she raised her eyebrow slightly, not judging the girl that had just walked in, but trying to see how old she might be. "We've asked the older students to come too, so that they can introduce themselves to the new ones." she quickly explained.

Soon after, another girl walked into the Middle Courtyard. She seemed shy at first, but Lucy smiled at her nonetheless, trying to make her feel welcome. "Thank you Grace, but I'm afraid it was all Ryland's work." Lucy smiled at the Gryffindor boy next to her and then extended her arm. "I'm Lucy Malfoy, by the way. Nice to meet you both."

Grace nodded to Lucy when she had introduced herself. Grace looks over to see a girl standing by the doorway. She seemed familiar. Grace knows that she is in Ravenclaw, but not much else. She had seemed to just stay quiet. Was she waiting for someone? Grace just decided to be polite and wave back. Grace then went over and grabbed a drink. It was really hot and she needed to make sure that she was hydrated. The juice was delicious though.

Wade had arrived just in time to see Aylee standing by the door. He debated whether or not he should say something to her, but finally decided to do so, as the whole point of this little party Ryland and Lucy had planned was to get shy students to socialize.

"Hey Aylee." he greeted. "Waiting for someone?" he winked, but then realized that the girl was probably to shy to admit she liked a boy, if she liked anyone at all. Quickly dropping the subject, Wade motioned for her to walk towards the others, but predicted she would rather stay where she was.

Maya gave a friendly wave in Grace's direction as she entered. The way she seen it, it was a party to make friends and the rivalry between the houses could be ignored for the time being.

Maya looked up as more students entered. She recognised the over confident Slytherin from the grounds, but didn't know who the other Ravenclaw was. When she heard her being called Aylee, she registered with Maya. Kynan's older sister she thought to herself.

Maya started to wonder when the first years were going to arrive as it just appeared to be the older ones so far.

Wade shrugged as Aylee walked past him, clearly stunned by the girl's sudden acceptance to socialize. He walked past her and the other younger students and towards Lucy and Ryland.

"Wonderful day. Isn't that right, Luc?" He said as he took a cup of butterbeer, as it was one of the few non-muggle snacks available. "Ryland," he said as he rested against the table. "Do you know who her brother is?" He lifted his chin to motion towards Aylee. "Or does she even have a brother?"

Even thought he wanted to make some friends, Kynan had preferred not going to this first-year party he had heard of. That was until his sister had found him and begged him to come. He was almost going to pretend to be sick and not go but after an argument with Aylee, he decided to go. As long as she shuts up, he thought to himself, a bit jokingly.

After putting on a plain white t-shirt and black jeans, he made his was towards the Middle Courtyard, where he had heard that the party would be. Kynan had told Aylee that he'd meet her by the door but when he arrived, she wasn't there. He rolled his eyes and looked around. Only two from his year were here, Maya and a Ravenclaw girl he didn't know. He recognized Wade, though, and a Gryffindor boy and another Slytherin girl. Finally, he managed to locate Aylee who was chewing on some gummy bears.

He walked over to his sister from behind her. "Eating gummy bears, eh?" Kynan teased, watching Aylee's head whip around.

A boy was seeming to be chatting to the other Ravenclaw girl. That must be her brother. They do look alike. Grace decided to leave them. It would be rude to interrupt their conversation. Instead, she decided to eat some gummy bears herself. The gummy bears remind her of when she thought that she wasn't a witch.

Grace was starting to feel uncomfortable with more people arriving. All she wanted to do was leave and curl in a ball in the Ravenclaw Common room. She couldn't do that though. It would be awkward to leave without speaking. Or even to speak and ask to go. No. She needed to stay and start getting used to talking.

Grace finally recognised the Ravenclaw girl. It was Aylee. She was introduced to her earlier on in the Ravenclaw Common Room. She could tell that Aylee didn't mind her joining in, so Grace didn't see a reason why she shouldn't go over. Grace slowly walks over to Aylee and her brother.

"Hello. Aylee is it?" Grace was sure it was Aylee but she wanted to make sure. "Things are going good so far. I'm getting settled in. I just needed to be here to be introduced to more people." Grace was now starting to feel more relaxed. It could have been worse.

His sister's reaction amused him and he wondered how did she stop being so shy outside the house and even funny. But before Kynan even had a chance to answer, Aylee was already calling over another Ravenclaw girl. He really wanted to leave, being his quiet self but also really wanted to make new friends. So he stayed and watched the girl come over. All he did was nod a greeting at Grace, as Aylee had called her, knowing that she was in his year. He didn't recognize her from any classes, though.

Grace spoke and then Kynan found the chance to answer Aylee. "I'm good," he said simply, looking at his sister and, rather rudely, ignoring Grace. "And I've met a few people, including two girls I think you know. Morgana and Auden, I think. And I've met that Slytherin boy, Wade, I think it was and that girl Maya over there." He nodded in Maya's direction, not wanting to be rude and point. Thinking of being rude made Kynan turn to Grace. "I'm Kynan," he introduced himself.

Ryland shook his head and was about to say he had no idea if Aylee had a brother, but he then spotted a Gryffindor boy he had seen around only briefly walk up to her. After inspecting the boy's looks and comparing them to Aylee, he turned to Wade to say, "Maybe that's him. They do look alike, and they seem to act just like brother and sister." 

Three seconds later, the other Ravenclaw girl, Grace, had approached them. He questioned whether or not it would be okay to approach the boy considering his small talk with Wade only days before. "Do we talk to him?" Ryland asked, curiously glancing at Lucy and Wade.

Lucy had only talked to Aylee a couple of times, but then she realized that this might be a nice way to start to know the Ravenclaw better. Taking Ryland by the hand, she pulled him towards them, knowing he'd be too shy to do it himself. 
"We'll be back." she said to Wade as she and Ryland walked towards the small group. "Hey Aylee." she greeted her with a hug. Turning to the others, she simply smiled and introduced herself to the boy, who she thought was Aylee's brother.
"Hey, I'm Lucy Malfoy." she said, taking out her hand to shake the boy's.

Darcy had heard of a small gathering on the school grounds for first years. She couldn't be more relieved about that. Honestly, she'd probably manage fairly well to get new friends. That job was like a natural part of her. But still, it was really nice of the people who had arranged this to do so. She reached the courtyard, wearing a white, cute tee, a black, sweet skirt and a pair white tights to match. She loved white and black together.

She looked around and saw a lot of people standing around. She took a second to take them all in. She wondered who they all were, what houses they were in. She looked at three people standing over by some snacks that she had never seen before in her life. She saw some standing near what had to be butterbeer. She smiled softly. Butterbeer. There were two guys there and one girl. And they looked older than her. She felt a bit intimidated by their presence, so she stood rooted to the spot, between the two groups of people, hoping they would welcome her. She frowned. Ah, courage had failed her today...

After taking a gummy bear himself, Kynan hesitated before answering Aylee's question. "Um... Flying, Herbology, Defence Against the Dark Arts, Potions, Divination... I'm pretty sure that's it..." He shrugged and turned to Grace, wondering what subjects the Ravenclaw girl took.

Suddenly, the Slytherin girl he saw earlier came and hugged Aylee without warning. Kynan felt like laughing because his sister looked surprised. The girl then turned to him and introduced herself as Lucy Malfoy. "I'm Kynan Walters," he replied, taking Lucy's hand and shaking it. He noticed that Lucy brought someone, too, as there was another Gryffindor with her. Kynan had seen the boy a few times in the common room but didn't know his name. He nodded a greeting at the boy.

Kynan was very different than Grace. She could tell by his subjects. The only one they were in together was flying and that was mandatory. Unfortunately. "I took Transfiguration, Charms, History of Magic, Care of Magical Creatures and I had to take flying." Grace then looks over to see someone else join. Grace leaves Aylee and Kynan and she starts walking over to the girl. She was a Gryffindor and by looking at her Grace believe that she was a first year.

"Hello. I'm Grace. I'm first year as well." Grace said. Grace was glad to not be around as many people now.

Wade watched in amazement as he was left alone. That normally didn't happen, but maybe Lucy needed a break from family members. But then why did she take Ryland with her? He thought, seeing as Ryland had been recently adopted by Phoenix, therefore making him Lucy's brother.
 
He saw another Ravenclaw leave as soon as Ryland and Lucy approached Aylee and her brother. How rude, he thought as he frowned her way. Too good to talk to anyone else?

Simply looking around, he soon found himself thinking of Shah and how much he missed her. Letting out a sigh, he wondered if anyone he knew would come around. He stood quietly by the snack table, wondering what to do next as he was usually not left alone.
