Write a two-inch essay concerning anything that has a connection in Quidditch. (For additional rules, refer to Homework Two in History of Magic).
Assignments will be posted here. I am aware that there are a lot of topics about Quidditch so I do not expect that there will be duplicate answers (if one essay is about the snitch, pick another topic).

Deadline of submission will be November 26.

The Golden Snidget

Before the existence of the Golden Snitch came about, the Golden Snidget was used in the same way instead. The Golden Snidget is a tiny, fragile bird with wings that are fully functional. Its use in Quidditch first began in 1269. Barberus Barge, the new Chief of the Wizard's Concil at the time, released one during a match. He informed everyone that he would pay 150 Galleons to the player that was able to catch it.

A witch by the name of Madam Modesty Rabnott, appalled at the way the Snidget was being treated, Summoned the bird to her, left the pitch and released it into the wild before a player could catch it. However, the idea of using a Snidget in Quidditch was adopted from then on, and the players changed the stakes to 150 points in honor of the 150 Galleon bet in the beginning. Because Snidgets were so fragile, they died every time they were caught. Because of this (as well as the sport of Snidget-hunting, which was popular at the time), the Snidgets became close to extinction, and were declared a protected species by Elfrida Clagg, the Chief of the Wizard's Council a century later. To protect the Snidgets and to keep the game of Quidditch alive, metal-charmer Bowman Wright invented the Golden Snitch at around the same time.

Quidditch Pitch

The Quidditch Pitch is very important, without its shape the game itself would probably be too different from what we know it to be as today. Because of this importance, it is necessary to inform ourselves, as students, about the basics of architecture and uses of the Quidditch Pitch.
When the Golden Snitch was first introduced, the regular Quidditch Pitch consisted of an oval-shaped arena of 500 meters long and 180 feet wide with a small circle in the middle of about 2 meter in diameter from which all the balls are released and which also shows the mid-field. To mark the scoring area, and the Keepers’ boundaries, a white shaded area is around the goal posts. By the late 1800s, scoring arenas were added to each end of the Quidditch Pitch and a new rule, called Stooging was added.
The size of the baskets was reduced considerably in 1650 and regulations were finally introduced in 1883, replacing the baskets for hoops at a fixed size. These hoops at each end mark the goal posts and each is at a different height. The tallest one, and middle one, is 50 feet high, followed by two of 30 and 40 feet.
The seating, which is perfect for an aerial sport, is at high vantage points. For example, apart from the usual seating around the pitch, there are additional spots in towers or the top box, which is considered to be the best spot. Sometimes the floor is made of grass, which now that I think about it resembles a football field, is for whenever people fall off their brooms, softening their fall.

Players

The game of quidditch is made up of seven players enumerating into: three Chasers, two Beaters, one Keeper and one Seeker. These players are the ones who will play the whole event, without any substitute. They are expected to have the skill of a flyer and should have a broom with them. If one player is missing, the team is obligated to fill the missing person with another one or they will be forfeited. Each player title have their own jobs.

The Chasers are the ones who has mainly in control of the ball. They pass it to each other, avoiding the opponents. Their main goal is to shoot the ball into the hoops in the field to earn points for their team. The Beaters have an extra equipment, which is the wooden clubs. These clubs are used to control the moving ball and hit the other players, mainly their opponents. The Keeper has a certain place to stay. Their job is to protect the team's hoops so that the other team can't shoot their balls in it, thus, not earning any point. The last one will be the Seeker. It's job is to locate for a particular ball, called the Snitch and catch it in any way he/she can. Catching the snitch will indicate the end of the game and when the points are added up, it will also indicate the winner.
